I'm saying in this specific case where Blackbeard blatantly said Luffy's Haki has improved in connection to his strength that Luffy did display some Haki. Lol, what's the point of Blackbeard even mentioning Haki if it had nothing to do with the situation?

Back in Jaya(also the first use of Ambition as a term), when Luffy's $100,000,000 bounty was revealed to Teach, he mentioned how only "$30,000,000 was odd for a kid with such Ambition" and they never fought. It was simply a statement comparing Luffy's overall growth between the past and their current time at Impel Down. That also coincides with Rayleigh's explanation of how the Overlord Aspect only strengthens with all-around improvement.

So an actual usage of Ambition isn't necessary.

The way that Fluffy described the two, their bounties are only high because they killed many Marines, and there's probably a good amount of civilians mixed in there. Yes, they have made it to this point in the Grand Line, but some routes are less dangerous than others, and our lovely Mugiwaras faced some very unique challenges that they would not have.

Are these brothers strong? Probably, but only on the level of someone from one of the Blues, not truly Grand Line strong. Which, in my mind, means they're gonna get stomped. So, by your thoughts, all the other Supernovas are weak because they didn't follow the same route as the Straw Hats? Besides, Kidd's main claim to fame was plenty of civilian kills, too.

u have to answer the question of when did he ever see luffy perform haki then. Blackbeard understood the fact that Luffy was iron-tight, as well as BB being experienced on the topic of haki. the fact that mastering/learning haki /CoC is something done by the strenght of will, which BB saw in him, that only led BB to presume that luffy understood haki too, however we know that not until rayleigh explained what haki was that luffy connected the dots. You forget that haki itself is a general term, which then splits up into several factions. Haki is found in ALL living beings, and BB certianly had not seen once where luffy used haki in any form. the only logical explaination is that Blackbeard is SPECIAL, such as Gol D. Roger being able to hear all things type of thing.

and a situation we can all agree using CoA was Zoro dodging rocks when vsing against Das Bones

How in any way did this answer my question, "If Haki wasn't used why would Blackbeard even mention it?" Nor did you disprove that Luffy unintentionally used Haki against Blackbeard. If you're talking about the theory of Blackbeard sensing Luffy as a potential Haki user when they first met at the pub I see no other explanation. Haki is basically spirit and it can be emitted from the body. By Impel Down Blackbeard knew of Luffy's Haki because he said it had "improved", not awakened, so he knew he could already use it. Technically everyone is a potential Haki user. Anyway, they didn't meet again in between Jaya and Impel Down so by Jaya Blackbeard must have known of Luffy's Haki ability.

True, and if you look at Sentoumoru's panel closer, you'll notice Ussop objecting to Nami's usual "let's go do some shopping" or whatever. By them wondering off like that it sure adds to the possibility of Oda creating chaos, making some SH fight impostors and some others fight Pacifistas, or wichever way he may want to go.

Either way, what ever happens I prefer the Straw Hats coming out of this fight without displaying all they've learn, keeping some surprises for battles in the New World.

it seems u have already answered ur own question, jsut too stupid/blind to see it. just to open ur eyes, ur question is "If Haki wasn't used why would Blackbeard even mention it?". Haki wasn't used by Luffy in Jaya (with BB in view), which was the only other time before that Luffy and BB met. by the fact that he used "improving" meant that he must have seen the level of luffy's Haki before to measure it against this "punch" in impel down. so unless u can find an example of BB seeing luffy using haki in Jaya, then this ultimately disproves Luffy punching BB with CoA for BB to say that his haki is IMPROVING (-ING is key here.)

Not enough of it to think he's a invincible master of it. If Luffy, who mastered the basics of Haki in one year when Rayleigh thought it would take two, and showed even more prowess for Rayleigh to leave him to his own devices, can't beat him, then this time skip has been utterly pointless.

Basically Blackbeard and Luffy met twice. The first time they didn't fight as you have previously pointed out. The second time Blackbeard and Luffy met they exchanged blows and Blackbeard said said his Haki had improved. I'm guessing Blackbeard knew about Luffy's Haki on Jaya then when they first met.

As an Asian whose language has the equivalent of Haki, I would say that Teach sensed a strong "aura" from Luffy when he first met Luffy. That aura/charisma/presence is exactly what Haki is about, just not in technique/skill form, but rather a potential form. Even so, it was, as BB noticed, unusually strong.

As Sea is saying above I believe Blackbeard sensed an "aura" from Luffy while they were in Jaya. I've said previously that's how Blackbeard knew of Luffy's Haki ability. We all know they've never fought before Impel Down.

Haki here mean the aura/charisma/will power emitted from Luffy, most likely the potential form of CoC, which has increased over life experience. The more rough things in life you go through, the stronger your Haki is. This applied perfectly in Luffy's case.

I say he did use Haki in Impel Down but if you can point out to me where I said he "might" have used it then you can have a cookie. Your favorite kind a warm glass of milk. :)

I know "improved" and "improving" wind up to the same conclusion of improvement after a certain length of time, but one implies certain improvement and the other continuing improvement, thus the difference. Besides, I like to quote manga directly but this is all relative.

okay so ur fighting for Haki was used. i'm saying that the fact he can sense haki without seeing it is definitive proof that haki wasn't used against him in impel down or even shown to him. a strong punch is a strong punch, its not like its the first time we've seen luffy throw a strong punch. ur almost assuming that luffy hasn't gotten any stronger in terms of physical strength since the beginning of OP. and AGAIN, haki is just force, improving an inner force is different from improving CoA. CoC is something that can become stronger through life experience. The more dangerous situations you are in, the tougher your mind is. Fighting spirit increased through battles of life and death. Reread what Rayleigh said.

Luffy, after Jaya, obviously had gone through hell many time. Hence his COC (in potential form) increased. To some point it can explode outside and made fodders faint, which he has not been able to do before Duval arc.

Nah, my argument isn't empty. It's just arguing one point from a line that can be interpreted in two different ways. One that his Haki which was improved contributed to the damage done to Blackbeard. The other his general fighting spirit just improved.

Luffy, after Jaya, obviously had gone through hell many time. Hence his COC (in potential form) increased. To some point it can explode outside and made fodders faint, which he has not been able to do before Duval arc.

Ah~ back home, no more school for the week, time to give my review.

Firstly, I like how Oda is now starting to accept requests for his cover pages. If I had to pick one for him to draw, I would like a double spread cover page of the straw hats attempting to carve Jack-O-Lantern's.

Zoro would accidentally slice his pumpkin in two while trying to carve a face with his sword, Sanji's Jack-O-Lantern would be in the shape of Nami & Robin, while Nami's Jack-O-Lantern would have Beli eyes, Ussop's would have a perfectly carved/sculpted one, Brook would be terrified of his, Franky's Jack-O-Lantern would have a "SUPER~" Pose, Robin's Jack-O-Lantern would have a flower design, and Luffy would eat his. (Chopper would imitate him too.) Eh, just my idea.

My top two favorite panels in this chapter would be Hancock describing everything she stuffed into his bag & Fluffy poking Luffy with his pistol while threatening Luffy with his own bounty. Priceless!

Although I am a Boa Hancock fan and believe that it would be awesome if she could join, I am not upset in the slightest over her not accompanying Luffy to the Archipelago. I would like to think that perhaps later on Hancock, her sisters, & the Kuja would get captured by Hancock's former Tenryuubito Master (he was never confirmed dead) and brought back to the New World where Luffy and his crew would rescue her because of all she did for him during Impel Down & the War, but I know that such an event is unlikely to occur but nevertheless trust Oda to take the story in the right direction regardless of who joins.

Btw, did Luffy get taller? Hacock is about 6'3'' and in the panel where she is adjusting Luffy's cloak the two look to almost about the same height….

Anyway, we definitely will see more of Hancock in the future, so I'm fine with that.

Next, The scene where Fluffy & the Gang (that sounds like a TV Sitcom, lol) were intimidating Luffy was ironically hilarious and thought that CoO Haki outburst at the end was well-deserved.

Franky's new look doesn't bother me at all & I love how his chest scars trace the shape of a Cola Bottle. Absolutely bad ass sitting in that lawn chair drinking a keg of Cola. I'm expecting great things from him and know that he'll live up to my expectations.

Of course Brook will re-join the crew! Who the hell said he wouldn't? 'Nuff said.

Now... About the Chopper Scene.......

It's really the only thing in this chapter that I have negative feelings toward. I understand that Chopper's young naivete is always a running gag in the series (such as not distinguishing the difference between Sogeking & Ussop), and that's fine within limits but this is not one of them. Really Chopper? Did Luffy give up on rescuing Robin after Galley-La and the entire town of Water 7 turned against him? NO. Did Luffy give up on rescuing Robin after CP9 became involved and were obviously stronger than him? NO. Did Luffy give up on rescuing Robin after she was taken away on the Sea Train headed towards one of the World Government's mightiest Strongholds? OH HELL NO. Luffy and the rest of the crew, Chopper included, raided Enies Lobby, Declared war on the World Government, and trashed the CP9. What I mean to say is, after all this, if Chopper really thinks that Luffy would abandon robin to her fate from mere kidnappers, then Chopper didn't have must trust in his captain to begin with. Like I said, it's all fine & dandy if Chopper acts all naive and whatnot, but when Fluffy said to abandon Frobin, that by all accounts should have sent up a Red Warning Flag. Chopper should KNOW that Luffy would NEVER act like that, no matter what.

Getting back to the Chapter, I am eager to see a Sentoumaru vs. Luffy rematch and just how stronger the Pacifista models have gotten in the last two years. As other forum members have already predicted, I'll also say that the upcoming cards on the Archipelago Battle will be:

Luffy vs. Sentoumaru

Zolo vs. PX 5

Sanji vs. PX 7

Rest of the Straw Hats vs. Marine Fodder, Rookie Pirate Brothers & Straw Hat Impostors

I think this would be a nice lineup because if Zolo & Sanji each single handedly took out a Pacifista then it would showcase just how far the crew has come in the last past 2 years where before it took the entire crew all 120% of their strength to take out just one pacifista. Luffy by all accounts should be able to beat Sentoumaru if you place the latter's power around top-tier VA level. It's The Straw Hat Impostors that are the wild cards, though. They could either face the rest of the SH or quickly get brushed aside by Sentoumaru and the Pacifistas. Whatever the match-up, I'm sure that Oda will handle it well. :happy:

Lastly, Zoro's entrance was pretty decent and very reminiscent of what Mihawk had done to The Dreadnaught Sabre. I didn't particularly care for Zoro's philosophical spouting, but Meh, whatever.

i really dont think bounties matter too much now in terms of certain players such as luffy/zoro/trafalgar law/kid. i mean, kid got his bounty by severely hurting civilians, doesnt' show hes any strong, whereas luffy's bounty is based on all the action he has taken against the government. trafalgar law has been imo getting such a huge build up that his 200 mil bounty might as well be 400+ as well.

i really think luffy can take admirals now, mb not kill them, but allow his crew to escape at the very least without dying himself. his only problem before has been not finding anyway to defend himself, and not being able to hit logia, which now he can do both.

No biggie, i think i might take it seriously too, the 4 weeks without one piece has made me a true odatard, im hoping there are no more breaks not even 2 weeks so i can get back to my steady fix of one piece.
