Just like the Sony Hit & Misses thread is the PS3/PSP thread.
There should be a RROD or something thread for the 360/PC (Microsoft) thread, haha.

So, how about that Microsoft Zune?
….Wait a minute...
Yeah, the whole Hit/Miss thing was relevant for Sony at the time. Now, not so much.

I'm busy listening to music and browsing the web on my iPod Touch, you know.. the one everyone has.
(I apologize for the shitty Family Guy reference)
Someone "in the know" has leaked what they claim to be the 3DS' specs. This stuff is total gibberish to me.
CPU:2 x 266MHz ARM11
GPU:PICA200 133MHz GPU by DMP
RAM:64MB
Video RAM:4MB
Storage:1.5GB Flash-based
Looks believable for something that needs good battery life with those low clocked arm11's(this will be 2 separate processors as opposed to being dual core - may help with backwards compatibility).
But we really need architectural info on the pica 200 to have a handle on how powerful it'll be.
With that amount of RAM I guess the device wont be doing much multitasking. Well it is a dedicated game device not an Iphone. 1.5 GB of internal storage is nice but hopefully the thing ships with an SD or microSD card reader.
The stats are much better than PSP.

3DS rumored pricing: $200
I think they later admitted they pulled that price out of their arse.
looks at link URL
VGChartz. Yeah, they definitely pulled that out of their asses. The site's well known for being unreliable when it comes to numbers.
That reminds me, there have been some Japanese game-peripheral sites and a German magazine suggesting a November 11th release date in Japan. I think the latter is mentioned on Joystiq.
Dates have been announced today in a press conference.
February 26 2011 in Japan
March 2011 in Europe and America
Some new videos of games and new functions.

Loving the new functions.
Warning: Third video is perv stuff
P.S: Cant a mod just change the title to 3DS Discussion or something?

I'm liking the function with the card and 3D effects (and yes, I know some developers have already beaten Nintendo to the punch with it, but eh.). I'm glad they improved Tag Mode significantly, it was hard enough to get lucky to walk by someone who had a DS AND had the same game as you AND who was also in tag mode :P Darn small town Iowa!
With Megaman Legends 3 announced for it I now HAVE to get this. Dammit…
Looks like the 3DS will have it's own virtual console for Game Boy and GBA games.
Y'know, if the DS printed money, the 3DS looks set to shit solid bricks of gold. In 3D, of course.
Yea I'll be dropping whatever they want for this beastly beauty. Which at the moment I heard is $300.
Holy shit. That VC for 3DS is going to ruin me, financially speaking. All the good games I missed out on as a kid, Immature sense of gaming and all, I can get… though, knowing Nintendo, they'll only release one or two crappy games a fortnight, and one good one a month, or something. But you take what you can get.
@The:

$300 is the Japanese asking price.
The big speculation right now is that $250 is gonna be the USA price.

First glimpse of Resident Evil Revelations is already better than RE5, even though they unfortunately kept the awful new character design. Hopefully it's just as dark throughout and perhaps brings back non-linear gameplay+puzzles :ninja:
Recycling and selling RE: Mercenaries as a separate game is unnecessary though…
Glad to finally see Paper Mario 3, although I was hoping for a home console release (while handhelds keep getting Mario&Luigi...).
I have some saddening news to people who can't get a Japanese 3ds and uses keyhole to watch Fuji TV.
Wifine and Fuji TV complatible (Japan only)
The Japanese 3ds will have Fuji TV which I think airs One Piece so that is kind of sad, at least to me

There's no speculation to be had here. First off, it's not $300 in Japan, it's 250,000 Yen, the conversation rate of Yen to dollar has no weight in the matter, unless you're importing it. Second, it WILL be $250 in the US.
Wii in Japan: 250,000 yen
Wii in US: $250
The numbers are the same for other consoles as well. If the 3DS starting price isn't $249.99 in the US, then I won't post on this forum for a whole month.
Can't wait. It's a shame you can't see the 3D effects in the videos, though.
Can't wait, either
I apologize for the horrible title.
Dearest Nintendo.
I love you.
That is all.
I love them when it comes to the handheld/nostalgia department.
Will I even be able to see the 3D effect? I lack stereoscopic vision.
Some 3ds in-game images I found on sites, don't know if some was already posted but whatever.
No they haven't, thanks
OoT remake and Paper Mario look amazing. Can't fucking wait.
This is pretty epic.

So many possibilities.
$250? Really?
I was honestly expecting them to price it under $200, at the very least. It'll probably be $300 here in Canada too :getlost: (Our dollar has been pretty much equal to the USD for a number of years, but the gaming companies never seem to notice)
Ah well, I can't say its not worth the money. The selection of games looks great so far.
Will I even be able to see the 3D effect? I lack stereoscopic vision.
Here's what wiki says:
Not everyone has the same ability to see using stereopsis. One study shows that 97.3% are able to distinguish depth at horizontal disparities of 2.3 minutes of arc or smaller, and at least 80% could distinguish depth at horizontal differences of 30 seconds of arc.
You might be able to somewhat tell a difference when playing with the slider but I'm not sure if you'd be seeing much at all. It may be a case of you needing to try it out at the store beforehand to see if you can tell.
So that means all 3d gaming is out of the picture for you then?
More pics and also according to Capcom, people are too pussy for Resident Evil for the 3ds, A boy and his blob has been de-confirmed for the 3ds, and sakuari said the aiming in kid icarus is a bit on the hard side so they might add a assist feature to combat it.
http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/31600 A video of someone using the auto mii maker.
And if you haven't known the new tag mode now is called street pass for miis and exchanging game data which I like.
Wait what? No resident evil for the 3ds?

All things being equal it probably would, but the yen is ridicuously strong at the moment. Nintendo had to slash 1 billion dollars off their profit projections because of currency conversion.
I am sooooo excited about this and will buy it no matter what the price is. Its definately worth it, a lot more than other "3d" gaming technology. Plus the software lineup is a major attraction!

Yep, as well as movies and TV. So you can understand why I'm unhappy with the direction media is going at the moment. I was born with a lazy eye and it has always been weak, but I went to a Spongebob 3D show at Kings Island back when I was like 14 and I saw it just fine. I haven't seen anything major in 3D since, but I know I can no longer see the red&blue glasses (which is what the Spongebob thing was) technique. I can't see the 3D effect in my DVD copy of Coraline, nor can I see it in any 3D pictures. I only see red (which is my good eye).
I can't see the 3D effect in my DVD copy of Coraline.
Don't you need to have a 3D TV to play these 3D DVDs? Or is what people say not true? I know it was the case for a couple of them since I tried it.
There's also the Toshiba 3DTV that works without glasses.

No, it was the traditional red&blue effect. It came with the cheap cardboard glasses.
Wait what? No resident evil for the 3ds?
There is one but Capcom is saying it's really scary, I don't know if it's with or without the 3D on but whatever. Also to go on the whole "250 DOLLARS?! NOES?!" The 3ds has so much shit plus a lot of the shit Nintendo of Japan (We don't know if NOA and NOE is gonna do this) is doing to people able to download their software or whatever at a fucking McDonalds makes it well worth the cost. If you're telling me people would play $600 for a system then they would pay around $250 for a handheld with so much content and games then you've got to be shitting me.
Wait what? No resident evil for the 3ds?
There's two Resident Evil 3DS games announced so far, actually. Resident Evil: Relevations, a full fledged RE game, and Resident Evil: Mercenaries, which is the Mercenaries mode from RE4/RE5 as a standalone title.
I will get this eventually. The only question is when. I might wait for the inevitable SP/Lite/XL/whatever to come out in 18 months, or the temptation of Paper Mario and the rest will be too great. Gotta remember the ol' caveat emptor…
There is one but Capcom is saying it's really scary, I don't know if it's with or without the 3D on but whatever.
So what is its really scary, thats the point! Plus im sure its gonna be T so its not like 4 year olds are gonna play it.
I really hope they dont hold back and at least make it on par with RE4.

Are you kidding? Do you know why soccer moms complaint about violent video games? They buy their little Susie or Jimmy a violent game that they want and the moms don't even look at the rating, they just buy it. Also from what I've seen the game will tend to your needs, maybe more if you use the 3d.

I feel the 3DS is actually worth the $ 200 - 250, not like the Wii.
I can already see the 3ds and its vast amount of games fucking up my wallet.
I also have a lazy eye and trouble with 3D crap. I can gauge perspective, and both eyes work fine individually, but not in tandem, and as I result I have no actual depth perception.)
May be why I'm not terribly thrilled by this system, despite the interesting sounding stuff on it.
Sssh, you hear that? It's the sounds of several hundred pirates RAGEing.
The 3DS will have automatic updates, as in you can't decide when to download them, you either have your 3DS connected to the net and take the updates, or you keep it disconnected. Titles will also come with updates built in, ala PSP, which will automatically be downloaded and installed in order to run the game. Bad news for pirates, bad news if you just want to turn your 3DS on and game but have to wait on an update, but good news if you don't care and are just lazy as hell.

I'm almost the same way, but it sounds like I'm worse off. When I cover my good eye I can see through my bad eye, but it's blurry and I only see that half. While my left is just fine and can see my entire field of vision. My left eye takes dominance.

Quick question, glasses or contacts?
Glasses. Since I was 10.
Glasses since 6, but I stopped wearing them when I was 12. Big mistake. My vision was improving greatly and I took that as I sign that I could get rid of them. My eyesight deteriorated back to the point it can no longer be improved. The Doc said no glasses or surgery will do me any good, and that all I can do is protect my left eye as if anything were to happen to it I'd be a mess. I now wear protective lenses when I go to work to protect it.
So yeah, if any of you ever have kids with vision problems and they need corrective glasses, make sure they never get in the habit of not wearing them.

Won't matter if it gets hacked. As a rule of thumb most hacked devices block automatic updates as soon as they get the system hacked.
I don't know if I really support automatic updates, though. Updates can really screw your system up if something goes wrong so that may be a major downside.
