Word. The flintstones beat the pants off the Jetsons.

I laugh at the jokes till this day , even if not all eps are equaly good , but even the great gazoo era was tolerable .
What he should hate on is the era where Fred and Barney were cops , teamed together with the Shmoo , or the Flinstone Kids era .
Btw can't watch , what exactly did he say about it ?
-
@NC:
I sort of respect it for being the first weekly animated show in prime time; that's pretty impressive.
But the animation is bad, the jokes are cheap, the stories are forgettable and the characters just aren't that interesting. They're boring as hell. The only cool thing about it was those household appliances that were used from prehistoric animals. That was it. I've heard of lamer gimmicks to base a movie on!
I haven't really watched the original Flintstones that much, so can't comment on it too much. The movie really is fuckin' terrible.
Loved the "Monkey!" - bit.
-
the flintstones was good for it's time. It is hard to watch now. I wonder who that movie was trying to target?
-
Meh .It was a sitcom (sort of) , I don't see people complaining King of Queens had forgettable storylines :/
-
the series was actually as a young kid enjoyable..
now looking again at the film..uhh yeah it sucks! (sadly not Halle Berry)
but isn`t even a second Flintstone movie around somehwere..

Honestly he barely even reviewed it. If i had to say anything he seemed like he really didnt give a rats ass about the movie, he brought up two gigantit plot holes and those were fair, but the rest bar 1 or t2 exceptions were him calling out a childrens movie based off a childrens cartoon.
I watched the movie when i was little and loved it, now, not so much. But For some reason the critic seems to have forgotten the movie wasnt made for young adults, it was made for preteens.
-
That's his style . Just saying many many people loved the Flinstones in the past four decades . While a lot of worse shit out there - the sequels - is deserving of that flack .

No i mean he reviewed less of the movie than usual. You know how he usually stops at some scenes of the movie, lets them play and gives commentary on them? He didnt do any of that here. Just clips of the movie going uninterrupted, which is sad because there were alot of good scenes he could have made actual jokes about.
-
Well that's kinda …...sad . Worst is when he reviewes a movie cause a hundred people say "he's gotta" even when he has nothing decent to make fun off .
-
Maybe you're just letting your personal affection towards the movie / series to affect your opinion. I thought it was a similar review like his earlier ones.

You might be right because I have no problem saying I did not enjoy his review. I'm not a big fan of the original series but I do have a fondness for the movie and I definitely felt it deserved a better review. It might be that the movie just didnt lend itself to alot of big jokes like some other ones such as battlefield earth. But I digress, is anyone else kinda suprised there has been almost no mention of scott pilgrim on TGWTG? With all the comicbook, videogame, and anime reviewers on the site I would have thought the movie would get a fair bit of coverage but aside from OL doing a top 15 and Cinema Snob doing something that I REFUSE to call a review, more like him saying "It wasnt in my taste" for 8 minutes (Seriously he says that like 12 times) there has been no mention of it. In comparison, both spoony and Cinema snob reviewed the expendables and there was a Chester Bum review as well.
-
Spoony has posted a VLog about Scott Pilgrim, and he thought it was really, really good. He even calls out CinemaSnob and Angry Joe out for not liking it and explains in quite a lot of detail his thoughts and differences on why he thinks Brad didn't like it. I think it's one of Spoony's best reviews, he gives a lot of insight into why he viewed Scott Pilgrim a good movie and like I said, he also ponders on why some people might not like it that much.
Even though I'm a huge fan of Scott Pilgrim comics and will go see the movie (and probably like it), I still like to see reviewers I like to give an opposite opinion. Not to go and yell OMG HOW DARE U SAY THAT but just to have a different point of view. But I have to agree with Spoony, I mean, judging from CinemaSnob's movie/pop culture knowledge, I expected he would've liked it. But ofc his opinion is his own.
And Familiar Faces is featuring Dr. Insano. http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/teamt/cr/ff/27514-dr-insano

I think that you should give him some slack, after the mamoth of nostalgia that was the Animaniacs special. That was beautiful. I'll give him a month to get back in shape though.
-
Damn! I thought for sure Pulse 3 was going to be the last one for Phelous!
Anyway, as for the Flintstones review. Personally, I believe The Flintstones was always my favorite Hanna Barbara cartoon. However, that's not to say it was anything spectacular. Yeah, I watched a good number of episodes and I do remember some particular ones, but it never really stuck with me. I remember being really bored watching it at times. But it was still a good show overall.
As for the movie itself, I remember watching it when I was a kid or in my early teens, and I thought it was okay (I haven't seen it since). But still, based on my memory and the Critic's review, yeah, it was pretty shitty. I'm actually surprised the NC didn't comment on the Pteradactyl poop scene. Oh, and I thought for sure he was gonna bring up Viva Rock Vegas at the end.
-
My favorite Hanna Barbera cartoon was always Yogi Bear. Flinstones I didn't care about as much.

Holy shit. ThatChickWithTheGoggles is a One Piece fan?!
That Chick With The Goggles? Wait…are you talking about Lobster?

Just let you all know that Linkara said on Rangerboard, that the Time Force Review will be up before he goes to Power Morphicon. I just want to pass that along to you all.

Yeah. When I discovered that TGWTG site only hosted a fraction of Spoony's stuff, I started to follow his own site more closely. Plus like you said VLogs don't get updated on the main site.

JesuOtaku has begun her Digimon retrospective. Here's part one of her look at Digimon Adventure.

I should see that , probably .
Coments on other videos :
Brad's Caligula . The review was good and it was nice for him to do something extra for the 100th episode , as with TGWTG showing up . However he went way overboard with the fake Caligulas , as not one of the guys made a funny performance there .
A diferent problem with the recent Linkara review . I love his reviews (even though I wish he would to more serials to follow through a plot he starts to elaborate on and I found his releasing the three parts of the DK2 review several months apart each to be a big mistake) but I got kind of anoyed over time how all his side characters are literaly just him , with barely any costume . I can take that singer person guy (though I disliked his actual review) , love 90's kid , but this week was just too much . Linkara , Linkara pretending to be the guy from the Star Trekk comic/game he was reviewing and then mecha Linkara at the end . A little too much Lewis if you ask me .

You obviously haven't seen the new cartoon.
-
I guess the Batman crossover is so bad it's good from the reviews I read . God wouldn't it be funny if the NC reviewed it ?
Incidently this is the only review of his I am not too eager to watch . Any reasons why I should ?
Oh and about the Flinstones having forgettable plots : what did he want Fred to go battle aliens ? Bad enough when the execs at HB actualy produced a movie about that with Yogi , called "Yogi and the invasion of the Space Bears" . That would make a great review , however it's a made for TV movie and unlike "The Jetsons meet the Flinstones" isn't all that liked , for obvious reasons so I doubt it will be availible . Basicly the plot is the same as that old short with Fred getting clones of his made by that blubbering alien : except made into a 90 minute film .
And without the awesome bubbly voicework to boot .
By the way : I never knew till I visited TV tropes that Mel Blank - aka Buggsy Bunny - was the voice of Barney .
-
Mel also voiced Dino. So I take it he'll never review the Flintstones first full length film "The Man Called Flintstone" then.
-
JesuOtaku has begun her Digimon retrospective. Here's part one of her look at Digimon Adventure.
http://jesuotaku.blip.tv/file/4023004/Finally. I've been waiting for that all month.
Watches
…Wow, this thing turned out to be over an hour and a half long! Well, that certainly explains why it took her so long to get it done, though I now have to wonder... Will she even be able to get through all series before the end of the month, like she said she was going to?In any case, great review. When she mentioned a while back that only two of the series would get rated above average, I figured this would be one of them. (And I'm assuming the other one is Tamers.) And while I can't say I like the Digimon-dub very much, she had a good point when she said that it was much better than most other dubs of the time. Sure, the music was pretty lame and there were a lot of bad puns, but at least they didn't censor it too badly or change the overall story.

Y Ruler of Time does something different. A review of the Soulja Boy song Anime.
http://blip.tv/file/4028844 Beware. -
The thing that's been troubling me lately is the obnoxious amounts of bitching and moaning on Spoony's comments. It doesn't seem to be exactly clear to many people how long putting together a review can take, especially if it's an elaborate one like many Spoony has done lately (such as Ultima series). People should learn to appreciate free entertainment and not behave like morons.
Ugh, I have spoken.
-
I can't believe that Spoony didnt like the expendables.

http://blip.tv/file/4028844 Beware.lol. I like the little cameo by Toddintheshadows (and that other guy, don't know him).
But yeah, wow. What a BAD song. He is endearing himself to no otaku.

The other guy is Skitch, he does a lot of music for the site. Notably 8-Bit renditions of theme songs (like 8-Bit Break Me for Spoony, 8-Bit Gunslinger Theme for Linkara, etc.) He doesn't have his own show but he makes a lot of appearances.
As for the song, yeah it's wretched. How the hell can he look like Death Note? It would make sense if he said "Looking like Ryuk" or "Looking like L", but looking like the book or series?
Also, how is an Xbox anime? Both versions of the Xbox are made in America, that's not where anime comes from. Maybe if he said Playstation it wouldn't be as… no it would still be stupid because he uses anime as an adjective. -
I couldn't make it through YRoT's review, myself. The guy talks too damn fast and in a droning monotone… Gotta be the worst delivery on the site...
-

Honestly I don't see why people get so worked up over the cameos.
I see Channel Awesome as a big family, willing to do each other favors. If Brad wanted to celebrate his 100th episode of "The Cinema Snob" with cameos from Spoony, Angry Joe, LordKat, Ask That Guy, his various characters (including his wife) then that's his choice. As for the review, I have to fucking see this movie. I heard the original workprint was 3 1/2 hours long, and there's a rumor it was shown at a French film festival but that's never been confirmed.

Boy that was good Time Force is imo the best show of PR to be more Sentai then PR but I do hate that they did not kill off Eric I know kids show but Sentai is a kids show.
