Oh and here's a good one too:
How does that stop a brick bat substitution or a doppleman substitution?
tsk this is a pointless poll cause obviously he is not dead nor alive, he has joined the ranks of the undead! o_o
@Zik:
How does that stop a brick bat substitution or a doppleman substitution?
Simple. GANGBANG!
But seriously, your asking this? Just to be clear, its stopping Moria from escaping not his brick bat substitution or doppleman.
@Zik:
How does that stop a brick bat substitution or a doppleman substitution?
A doppleman substitution can be stopped by finishing both of them at the same time.
@Zik:
How does that stop a brick bat substitution or a doppleman substitution?
That doesn't, but the fact the news said he dies when it wouldn't make sense for them to say he is if he wasn't should tip you off

The substitution leads to the escape. If you can't stop the sub he can can get out of the gangbang and escape.
@cooldud_21:

Doppleman can't be hurt. It's a fucking intangible shadow. How do you "finish" doppleman? Shine some light on him? Illuminate the entire area?
@SGRaaize:

Tip me off at what? I asked how does Dofla and a pack of kumabots stop Moria from subbing out of danger and escaping not whether or not the news releasing to the public tips the reader off of his death.
I'm merely saying that its obvious that Moria is dead because of the news
@Zik:
Doppleman can't be hurt. It's a fucking intangible shadow. How do you "finish" doppleman? Shine some light on him? Illuminate entire area?
Get a hold of both and perform a finishing move on both. Robin did perform a clutch on doppleman. Were she to perform a clutch on both Moria and his shadow, the real Moria would be screwed, even if he swapped.

So you mean hold down doppleman and then capture Moria, right?
What's stopping doppleman from brick batting and escaping this hold? Trap him in an inescapable sphere?
@Zik:

Gangbang covers everything. Attacking both Doppelman and Moria at the same time cancels out his substitution. He will receive damage wherever point he chooses to remain. Did I mention Lazers hurt.

You don't need to hold anyone per se. I just meant perform a finishing move on both simultaneously. Like a synchronized laser through both Moria and his shadow at the same time.
@Zik:

Nope, just firing those lazers. No need to hold him.
Who cares about Doppelman, you aim for Moria. Duh.
@cooldud_21:

Oh Okay. Not sold on simultaneous attacks since Moria could prolong that by just subbing parts of his body out.
@Renegadesoul:
Who cares about Doppelman, you aim for Moria. Duh.
And that's when he subs out. It happened several times in TB.
I'm merely saying that its obvious that Moria is dead because of the news
If your argument is: "because the news said so", then Robin really sank the ships at Ohara.
Because the news said so.
@Renegadesoul:
Throwing this in the ring as one of the many, many ways that prevents Moria from escaping.
Try to come up with a more compelling argument because this one is meaningless.
Who cares about Doppelman, you aim for Moria. Duh.
He can switch places with him at any time. They could be shooting at the wrong target 50% of the time.
The difference being that the World Government wins by lying about Robin but couldn't win anything by saying Moria is dead if he actually isn't
@Zik:

Pacifistas. Plural means many. Not to mention a maniac slicer laughing in the corner waiting to add some loving asswhooping to your beloved Moria.

Meaningless, they brought him to his knees. Look who's talking about meaningless arguments.
Pacifistas. Plural means many. Not to mention a maniac slicer laughing in the corner waiting to add some loving asswhooping to your beloved Moria.
You'd think I didn't say a pack of kumabots.
Beloved Moria? You must be a dumbass.

What part of simultaneous attack don't you comprehend?
The difference being that the World Government wins by lying about Robin but couldn't win anything by saying Moria is dead if he actually isn't
That makes perfect sense IMO. To publish an unverified death would be pretty lame on the WG's part. And doesn't suit any purpose as well. It's not like Moria has a huge fan following in the OP world (unlike people like WB and Dragon, whose deaths would change a lot of things). It's also not like they are publishing Moria's death as a warning of weakness or insubordination, they said he died in the war fighting for their cause.
He can switch places with him at any time. They could be shooting at the wrong target 50% of the time.
I don't know, the last panel where Moria was in, clearly shows he was hit. Yeah right on the 50%.
@Zik:
So you mean hold down doppleman and then capture Moria, right?
What's stopping doppleman from brick batting and escaping this hold? Trap him in an inescapable sphere?
What was his excuse for not doing it to avoid one of the Pacifistas' cannons?
What part of simultaneous attack don't you comprehend?
You ignored the part where I replied to that too. If you gonna use someone else's argument use it right. You're saying focus on Moria not Doppleman and then contradict yourself by talking about simultaneous attacks.
@S.C.:
What was his excuse for not doing it to avoid one of the Pacifistas' cannons?
You mean when they first attacked him? Well it was most likely a surprise attack/behind his back since his next question was what's the meaning of this. If he saw it coming of course he would've used that technique or try to evade in another way.
Unfortunately for him, Moria's subbing out ability isn't automatic like Croc's intangibility.
Yeah, I think Moria is Dead.
The difference being that the World Government wins by lying about Robin but couldn't win anything by saying Moria is dead if he actually isn't
That's not entirely true.
The newspaper says he died during a war. It's far more acceptable to tell the world that he died during a battle where the strongest powers in the world were involved than to say he was defeated by a single pirate. It's to prevent an uproar similar to the one when Crocodile was defeated.
Mihawk also says that he isn't sure if he's dead or alive. He's holding the newspaper so I think it's safe to presume a photo of his corpse isn't included.
@Renegadesoul:
I don't know, the last panel where Moria was in, clearly shows he was hit. Yeah right on the 50%.
I'm not saying he's impossible to hit. He was punched in the face by Nightmare Luffy when he was distracted. Could've easily happened here considering Doflamingo is an "ally".
As much as i want him dead i don't think Oda would kill off a comic relief villain. I can see him getting his own cover story arc where he wanders around picking fights and losing until he gives up and lives life as a simple farmer…
@Zik:

No, I don't think it's it's not strong, it's just his reflexes are now crap. Look at him getting socked by Jinbei, who he obviously saw dashing towards him.

That makes no sense. Why would they need to cover up his defeat by Luffy when no one knows about it in the first place. It would be better to report nothing at all than to claim he died when he wasn't dead.
He's dead.
@Joel:

The Rolling Pirates were witness to the entire fight and got away because Kuma didn't stop them.
And if it's the word of a group of pirates against the World Goverment, the majority of the civillians will take side with the WG.
That sounds rather far fetched that the government would be so worried about pirates spreading gossip that Luffy defeated Moria.
@Joel:

Why did they send out Kuma to kill everyone on Thriller Bark then?
Edit: Got a page to back this up
Yeah. That was then. They have far more pressing matters than a defeat there after the war, don't they?
So why claim that he is DEAD when they can just claim he was "defeated" in the war if that is their motivation?
@Joel:

During that scene, nobody had any idea that there was gonna be an outbreak at Impel Down and what shennanigans Black Beard was up to.
At the time their most pressing matter was to uphold the "glory" of the Shichibukai to present them as an all-powerful force during the war. They knew war was gonna be inevitable when Ace was captured by BB.
They wouldn't gain anything from saying he was defeated.
Just one question needs to be asked to address the newspaper issue. What would the Goverment gain by claiming Moria was dead if he was in fact alive?
@Zik:
You ignored the part where I replied to that too. If you gonna use someone else's argument use it right. You're saying focus on Moria not Doppleman and then contradict yourself by talking about simultaneous attacks.
Your the one mixing up my responses to favor your argument. I meant they should aim for Moria and not care for Doppelman. Attacking simultaneously is focusing on Moria. You don't care if he switch or not because either way Moria goes, he will still face a nice breeze of lazers.
I'm not saying he's impossible to hit.
Good. Now tell me how he would fair against an army of pacifistas attacking him.
@Herr:
Just one question needs to be asked to address the newspaper issue. What would the Goverment gain by claiming Moria was dead if he was in fact alive?
Absolutely nothing.
They might not know if he's alive. Nobody does.
The newspaper is under discussion to dispel the argument of: "he dead cuz news said so."

So you're assuming that doppleman will stay in place for these simultaneous attacks instead of obviously using brick bat to distance itself creating enough space for when Moria subs out away from them.
It just sounds even easier to escape in your surround and ganbang scenario.
@Herr:

I thought the whole argument on that side is the WG thinks he's dead and everything went according to plan.

That doesn't make sense. Moria and Doppleman can be treated as separate entities that can switch at any given time. Doppleman is impervious to every attack we've seen so far.
Good. Now tell me how he would fair against an army of pacifistas attacking him.
Dunno.
They are hundreds of possibilities that could happen. Nobody can give a definitive answer to this besides Oda.
Also, the number of Pascifista's seen is 4. Not much of an army.
@Zik:

Are you assuming Moria's fast enough to do all that?
Are you assuming that Doflamingo and the rest of those pacifistas can't match Moria's or Doppelman's speed?
Are you assuming that brick bat is fast enough to reconstruct Doppelman?
Did you forget the range of those lazer attacks?
Its getting much more clearer now that Moria stand no chance escaping against the Gang Bang.
Dunno.
They are hundreds of possibilities that could happen. Nobody can give a definitive answer to this besides Oda.
He already gave the answer.
He already gave the answer.
What is your basis that you assume this is the ending of the battle? Why isn't it the beginning or the middle?
What is your basis that you assume this is the ending of the battle? Why isn't it the beginning or the middle?
THE NEWS .
THE NEWS .
There is plenty of evidence to support the news isn't credible.
Besides that? Something in the panel itself?
Absolutely nothing.
They might not know if he's alive. Nobody does.
The newspaper is under discussion to dispel the argument of: "he dead cuz news said so."
That's exactly the point, they wouldn't report he was dead to the entire world unless he was. The only other option is if they had him locked up and guaranteed he couldn't ever see the outside world again. But after seeing Impel Down inccident they may not want to risk it.
Are you assuming Moria's fast enough to do all that?
Fast enough to do what? It doesn't take any physical speed to sub out with doppleman. Doppleman would be doing all the moving to create distance. Or are you saying doppleman(a shadow mind you)'s speed depends on Moria's speed? or that the sub out speed from Moria to Doppleman is slow or not fast or isn't fast enough despite it being shown to be instantaneous upon the opponent's attack?
Are you assuming that Doflamingo and the rest of those pacifistas can't match Moria's or Doppelman's speed?
There is no Moria speed involved really. I didn't say or assume Doflamingo can't match the speed of Doppleman and I'm not sure the speed of pacifstas is anything worth mentioning (definitely isn't Kuma fast). Regardless this gangbang is focused on Moria where he would sub out with Doppleman who would then brickbat away as the pacifista look to surround Moria again and shoot lasers at him. The longer that continues the higher the probability he escapes, especially if you throw in him or Doppleman attacking the pacifstas to slow them down.
Are you assuming that brick bat is fast enough to reconstruct Doppelman?
Fast enough for what? you already said they'd mainly be focusing on Moria so are they shooting lasers at the bats as well trying to hit them? The speed for reforming in to doppleman from brickbat doesn't need to be insanely fast since brick bat would be moving away as it reformed for Moria to sub in.
@Zik:

Are you saying Doppelman is much more faster than Moria? anyways, He won't create any distance if Doppelman is relentlessly pursued.
Speed is the key. If brick bat can't even materialize that fast to Doppelman for Moria to sub then it would be a useless run. Moria would still be rape wherever he is. If he can't substitute fully with Doppelman, a foot or a head will fall into the ground.
@Herr:

I agree that it isn't the wisest announcement to make, but they have said things that came back to bite them in the ass before. Like saying they had Dorry and Broggy imprisoned to blackmail those two Giants at Enies Lobby to work for them.
And covering up the escape of the Level 6 Prisoners. Those people certainly aren't going to stay put and it'll definitely come back to haunt them.
