Solution
It's not as easy as I said it would be, just downloaded both the raw and .as file but somehow i can combine the two to play. I need a program to merge the two files….
AGH!
I have to admit that the .ass subtitle type is exactly what it is, an ass of a type.
First I recommend using VLC Player to view the movie.
All you have to do is download and install VOBSUB (Click ME!) and run the Subresync program that it installs.
In that program choose OPEN and pick the stupid .ass file. Then click the first subtitle line so that it's highlighted (easiest to click the timestamp of the first line) and press SHIFT + END to select all the subtitle lines. Then click edit.
In the edit window, I recommend you change the colors to PRIMARY YELLOW. SECONDARY WHITE. OUTLINE AND BACK TO BLACK. SHADOW DEPTH TO 4. The click SAVE AS and make sure the file type is set to SUB STATION ALPHA (.ssa).
I recommend naming the movie and the subtitle (.ssa) file the same name.
Once done open VLC Player and open the RAW. Once the RAW is playing, click on VIDEO and go to SUBTITLES TRACK > OPEN FILE and choose the .ssa file you just created.
This will make the text Yellow with black outline and definitive shadow which I feel is readable best throughout the whole movie.
The default is white and it is quite annoying.
I have watched the movie already and I must say it was pretty friggin good.
The subtitles are MEH imo. They put the English and Japanese words for moves. Nakama is used.
Hope this helps and ENJOY!
