One Manga closing

As much as I hated that OneManga translations it is one of the very rare sites where you have all chapters from the very beginning... And if I looked for an old chapter than alwaays there.

I hope someone will right click and save all the chapters and zip them in a one big ass data and than publish it for download... in that way the files won't be lost forever.

Maybe we should make an alliance for that... My idea for everyone who would help out...

Let us say we have 20 people who would help and we are currently near 600 chapters... That would be 30 chapters for each one... Including the color spreads...

We should make a list which chapters everyone will save and than at the end put all together^^

e g.

Me: Chapter 1 - 30
X: 31 - 60
Y: 61 - 90

and so on^^

The whole damn fan coloring at OneManga shouldn't be included. Only the relevant chapter pages^^

onemanga wasnt forced to take down their site. they were not sued or issued a cease and desist letter. they are taking it down cuz they don't want to disobey the manga publishers. easiest way to fix this is to issue a monthly/yearly fee to access an extensive manga website and the revenue would be shared with the publishers.

Publishers would make a killing if they put them online themselves. If they had the right ads on their sites, and had good translations. They wouldn't even need to charge the people money to view them lol.

They may be available some other way, onemanga.com doesn't make the scanlations after all. You can also send requests to manga publishers to pick up those series and release them in English.

Yeah if it's not available in your country I don't blame you. You can try importing them, or ask publishers in your country to pick up the manga you want. As far as being up-to-date, well I don't mind waiting, I'm still gonna read the manga eventually at some point. Although fans in North America demanded a "One Piece" speed-up, and we got it.

One manga was a site that would drop series pretty easily, while other sites didn't. So them backing out already doesn't seem that shocking. Manga fox has like 4 times the number of series on its site and is still going strong lol.

There are other manga readers, and I always have a tab open for mangaupdates(.com/releases.html), so even if a series that is only available at one of the many manga reader sites (or none, and only available on an individual group's site), I can still find it.

My stance on this whole deal is I'm not surprised this is happening. Several of their series already received cease and desist orders from the obscure Urusei Yatsura to the popular Berserk. I'm surprised the Shonen Trinity and stuff like FMA, HunterXHunter, and Dragonball were still on there. After most of the issues of simulcasting with anime streams was streamlined and dealt with the focus shifted on how to deal with illegal scanlations so of course Onemanga would make a decision to bail before the heat turned up. Viz is already doing this by releasing Rumiko Takahashi's Rin-ne on a weekly basis online therefore keeping up pretty well with the Japanese release. Something they attempted to do with Inuyasha but ultimately failed because (at the time) no matter how close you release a manga to when it came out in Japan and weekly schedule vs. monthly just wouldn't work out. I wouldn't be surprised it Viz decided to put out their "currently running" Shonen Jump line online but the only issue is how could they make a profit from it? In the end official companies are trying to "Crunchyroll" the manga industry so Onemanga closing is simply a sign of the times.

I'm freakin' out. I F*in love one piece! If these closure of manga sites continues I'm afraid that I'm not gonna be able to finish one piece.

I live in the Philippines and you don't know how much this country suck. If all of the scanlations gets banned, there is no way for me to read one piece. Manga is rare and expensive here and i believe that it is delayed by a couple of years.

I don't know anyone from any scanlation group. Can anyone reassure me that there is a way to see this through? or is this really the end for guys like me? Guys who live in f*in 3rd world crappers.

A friend of mine lived there for 6 years and translated manga for a certain scan group. He used IRC and torrents.
