Good chapter, wish that whole melding power could have been used more effectively its a cool concept…
Fairy Tail

-
"If your power is to make things soft, how are you flying?"
"I dunno"Nice way to write yourself out of a corner there, Mashima
-
It worked on me.
After he explained that he didn't know I just fucking accepted it.
-
Sugerboy has some awesome expressions. He and Knightwalker are my favorites of Edo's villains so far. Now I'm hoping Faust lives up and does not end up being a crazed generic madman(Zero).
-

was he ever shown flying before?
it was obviously just supposed to be funny and not a oh shit i drew 3 pages of him flying and then had someone ask how he is doing it and didn't have an answer. no author is that stupid
-
Wow the "I dunno" thing worked on me, I kind of accepted it without a second thought
Gotta give props to Mashima for that one, skiped an entire explanation but had readers (or maybe just me) accept it..Takes some balls to just cop out of something like that
-
Wasn't he sliding on his armor though?
-
when i was reading and first saw him i was sitting there thinking "what is his power again, cause i don't recall some flying thing" and hten when it was asked i just laughed and couldn't care less how it is explained or if not (since it wasn't)
then i remembered his power when he did it.
but also got a laugh at gray's key. Made me realize how pathetic of a key the key was to begin with. DId they really need a key? I mean seriously its like the most generic looking key ever, with just a square at end. looks like be easiest lock to pick ever.
otherwise nice to see him using something as simple as ice make to do something big in the arc. its like mr. 2 and his key, or buggy running through lvl 1 hell and so on. I like when they use their UNIQUE power for somethign other than just battle.
-
that chapter was meh this made me go wtf :
!
-
What's WTF about that? He used Ice Make to freeze his hand into a sword shape and slice the crap outta Sugarboy, like how Ed uses Alchemy to turn the top of his Automail into a blade.
-

he didn't create the sword before the attack and he wasn't holding a sword after the attack, So i'm sticking to its a WTF
-
I thought it looked SUPER lame compared to when he used it back in the Tower of Paradise.
-

my thought.
man, those fights just suck IMO.
-
The shape of that key is so damn complicated that any iron bar would do really…
Sugarboys "power" matches his character. No man would call it a power to make things go limp!
Meh, Fariy Tail, really meh!
-
Really liked this week's chapter. Can't wait for next week's. I've been waiting for a Gajeel one on one since he joined.
By the way I saw the trailer for the ds game. Looks fun. It's a fighting game but it looks really average. I might import it with portable guild.
-

No, I didn't say he created a sword. Look at his arm in the panel after the spread. He created Ice blades on his arm, exactly like how ed transmutates the top of his Automail hand into a blade. Even if that's just a motion blur, he could've frozen his fingertips into Ice claws or something. Either way, it's not that implausible.
-
yea he can make ice appear and ice also does what breaks/melts or who knows what gray can do.
he obviously got rid of the ice or it broke during his attack and thus he has none at the end. and he has made swords before, not surprising he could make a edward elric type blade, or claws or wolverine style or who knows
maybe the last attack nicked the weapon of that guy and turned it to water then, or maybe gray can turn his ice into water when done, like unbend it or whatever you want to say.
-
Damn. Am I to assume that I was one of the few people that enjoyed this week's chapter? Even so, even if you hated it, there seems to be an excess of negativity. It wasn't that bad, guys.
-
Chapter was fine for me. I didn't have any issue with Sugarboy's mysterious flying or the way he was beaten. In all honesty, I'd also like to see Sugarboy make a return later on.
The episode was good as well. Erza "punishing" that one guy was hilariously risque.
-
Technically, Sugarboy wasn't flying, he was sliding on his armor, which is why Gray's classic "Ice on the Floor Trick" worked on him. Since the Edolas Weapons each person wields seem to reflect the Magic their Earthland counterparts have, I'm gonna go on a limb and say that Sugarboy is Hoteye. Rosa Espada and Hoteye's magic are both extremely similar.
-
well i'm going to be like the characters and just go "who cares" it was funny how tehy both were wondering as well how it works.
but i liked the chapter too, though woudl ahve wished hiro made a bit of a more complex looking key.
-
Who cares? The key is just a simple MacGuffin for the current storyline. If Mr. 3 can make keys out of wax, then it's fine that Gray can make one out of ice.
Besides, I'm still assuming that the dragonslayers will somehow save the day anyway.
-
Good chapter. I love how this fight balanced it's struggle with this little bit of plot development. It was a nice change of pace from other fights, and the suspense through the danger of losing the Guild was decent. Last of all, the twist at the end was great.
I don't trust the author to keep this up though, but at least this is an author you can trust to be passable, unlike certain others.
-
I liked this chapter, the flying thing was dumb yeah.
SugarBoy sucks and is just another fodder like i though lets see Panther Lilly, the Edoras Erza and Faust now.
But it was a cool chapter.
-
A chapter I liked from start to finished…
-
Am i losing it or have you guys lowered your standards?
I mean, it certainly wasn't a bad chapter, but i wasn't a good one either.
…the form of that key alone is just ridiculous! No one, except the very first key builders, would ever create a key like that, the keyhole screams put a stick and a waffle into me and i may open! -
Maybe the key has some special unique magical properties to compensate for it's design, meaning that Gray has just screwed everyone over by breaking the thing?
Though to be honest I don't really expect Mashima to go that root.
-
With Mr. 3 he molds the wax inside the locks as far as I remember . Gray just materialised the key , head and all after not even looking at it .
@ Crossword : I thought about it , but realy , when was the last time Mashima did a twist like that .
-
@No:

mr. 3 makes keys before entereing into lock. he did in arabasta and also in the war for sure. remember him throwing the key to luffy and luffy unlocks it.
but yea only thing bad recently i have thought was just shape of this key. i mean really, how hard would i tbe to make even ONE dent in it to make it not seem like a 5 year old could pick the lock with no skill
-
I remember him doing that back in Alabasta when Sanji forced him to open the cage I believe .
Stil I guess he could stil mold the hot wax somehow .
Also , what if Faust has a reserve key ? Like a smart person ?
-

do you mean like goldmember in austin powers
-
Huh ? I saw the movie but don't recall what you mean .
-
Lol, Faust having a Goldmember would be the best twist ever! EVER EVER!!
-
@No:
Huh ? I saw the movie but don't recall what you mean .
austin and them stole the golden key that will shoot the lazer or whatever it is they are doing in the movie, but goldmember reaches into his pants and unscrews his dong, which happens to be a golden shaped key just like the one to use the lazer
you know cause he loves gold, so obviously he would turn his winky into gold

-
You know, I'm surprised no one has considered that the key's simplistic shape may be due to it being a magic key; that is, the key uses some type of magic to open the lock. Or, if Gray can indeed duplicate it with no problem, it just may require magic period to unlock the lock.
-
I thought people had low standards when they considered "Battle of FT" to be a good arc.
battle of fairy tail was a great arc. what was wrong with it?
-
I thought it looked SUPER lame compared to when he used it back in the Tower of Paradise.
He did that move during the TOP arc?…I don't even remember that
@Fire Fist:

oh I see it, I thought that was more speed lines. Mashima could of at least shown the weapon during all of those slashes. He showed haru with his sword when haru unleashed a shit load of explosions on hardner.
-
Well the battle arc was not exactly plot stuff , and then we have things that realy anoy people . Kana being owned offpanel not even showing what she can do or Mistgun just…..leaving........but it has fewer holes then OS .
Mind you the whole "pose" thing would have been much more efective if hinted at before and revealed at the end of the arc but meh .
-
battle of fairy tail was a great arc. what was wrong with it?
Aside from being boring with pointless buildup like Hall of Thunder, Fail Law, forced emotional scenes with Fried, and that unsatisfying unity attack, it was a little above mediocre. It just felt plain. Note, I'm not mentioning Mistgun since I don't need too.
-
Anyone can tell me why Natsu and Gajeel could not leave the hall even though they were not eighty or stone statues ?
-
I'm assuming it's the the method needed to learn Dragon Slayer magic. Judging by Hiro's writing, it could have been learned in a realm where time didn't run a the same pace as Earth. Like one day of progress could be equal to a whole year progress. Either way, it's not explained yet.
-
The common theory is that Dragonslayer magic mentally ages them, as Gajeel and Natsu haven't had their actual ages revealed. Although that wouldn't explain Wendy, who has (12).
-
I am tired with the same 4 main characters fighting dumb opponets..give us some Gazille, Mistgun and EdoTail already….
-
this manga is the fucking worst.
-

Agree, Mashiro makes this very dynamic and very cool supporting cast but never uses them…C'mon Gray and Natsu have the same attack and battle every arc, please utilize the other characters you have made the Manga would be so much better for it...
-

I actually liked the Fail law honestly, since it actually showed possible character Growth for Luxus. I mean he completely spent all his time talking about how much he hated mostly everyone in the guild, but in the end with the Fail Law, it showed a part of him cared. a good thing that would have happened is that he left in a confused rage and possibly made a guild of his own.
however, what happened afterwards just spat in the face of that possibility- Natsu suddenly coming way the hell out of nowhere and just pulling punches from his ass-despite that earlier he was getting beaten to a pulp WHILE TEAMED UP with Gazelle- which is why that part of the arc is loathed.
-
Sugarboy is the master of non-friction.
-
despite what everyone said the Battle of FT arc was good. It seems that everyone always brings up the bad points but none of the good points. For example we got that gazille was a double agent. We got to see Mist gun, Loki, Mirajane (who lost her ability due to lisanna's death) all fight, Gray finally lost to someone, jet and droys powers were shown and even arzack (is that his name?) power was shown briefly. The luxus fight was what a boss fight should of been the only problem with it was the natsu won. I honestly believe the fight should of ended after luxus failed attempt with fairy law which would of been good character development. Also this arcs ending with the entire guild giving there fare well to luxus was by far the best ending in fairy tail.
-
Like all things Fairy Tail it was good but not great
-Liked the whole concept of the takeover and how they made all the guild members fight each other
-But, I didn't like the failure to expand on some of the FT member-on-FT member fights, why does Mashiro always want to end his arcs so damn quick…
-Liked the Mirajane transformation, badass Demon form,,
-But the Mystogon v Luxus fight was a horrid disappointment
-Liked Luxus's ability and fighting as well as the Natsu and Garjeel combo
-Didn't like how easily Luxus was taken out, I mean come on he is an S class..
-I do agree that the whole Fairy Law not working was cool and the ending was very well done..Arc was good but could have been better, not using its full potential is the main problem with FT right now..
