Jar Jar Binks? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
At least Dobby died for us. Jar Jar just had to actually do something to further the plot.

Well shit, alcohol and silly mating rituals have made me miss a great bash of HP books..
I'm sad right now.
I just realized I shouldn't have skipped over Power Rangers in Space as a child.
It's never too late, Severus.
reads about 5 pages worth of Harry Potter stuff
Soooo…
It was a good decision never to pick up the books and or movies?
Or should I bother with it?
Cuz it sounds pretty bleak o_o
I liked the HP books.
And i saw a interview with the author saying she knew many people would hate the last book after she finished making it.
So I started the bash about Harry Potter.
Thanks for the useful comments.
The Prince's Tale. Great chapter.
It's a good series, not perfect but nothing is in this world. Not even One Piece or Dragonball.
Good point. The Horcrux inside him could've made it possible to do a Patronus. I can see how you can argue any of Harry's abilities due to him being an unknown Horcrux until very near the end.
But somehow, I don't think Rowling would have made him weaker after the Horcrux's destruction.
He lost his parceltoungue abilities. So… what other abilities did he have that werent actually his?

They're worth it for the journey. But the end is kind of weak.
Also… where oh where are the Debathe results?
Waiting on the final judge now. Or possibly the second. Brennen's appraisal confuses me. One form or another its going out in the next couple hours.

Ok.. so the "journey" is worth it.
I'll try to catch them then.
GFhgfhgfhgfhgfsgsghfshhgsjasfsjhs @ Debathe still not over.
GFhgfhgfhgfhgfsgsghfshhgsjasfsjhs @ Debathe still not over.
No. Its over. Just… really really delayed in minor ways by people's schedules. I have a preference for how it'll go out. But it'll be out tonight regardless.
The big portion of write up stuff is done.
Well, I guess we'll wrap this thread up with the results of the debate and then send it off with Bohemian Rhapsody. Quite a way to end the thread (only ten pages left!)
@robbybedfart:

Well Parseltongue was just the language of snakes. Losing that doesn't really make him weaker as opposed to say if his DADA prowess was halved or his abilities in Charms or Transfiguration were decreased (Which is something that is possible and you can argue. I just don't think Rowling would go that route.).

As much as harry was bad as a child he became an auror.
The only books I found worthwhile were first, second and fifth.
The first too - probably, because main cast were still children, without all the problems, complexes and other mental disabilities they gained by growing up. It really felt like an adbenture - but suddenly turned to some angst/fluff fic.
The fifth - well, I am biased towards ex-convicts; yeah, Sirius.
And the sudden "plot point" of Horcruxes and 3 artifacts that appeared like out of nowhere but were suprisingly crucual didn't help much either.
Last, I didn't find the magic system to be that fascinating. Yes, the divided world conception and the ministry were fun aspects - but the use of magical artifacts, spells and creatures - except dragons - not spectacular at all. Paired up with the conservative tory society of english nobility it made me smirk disgustingly.
But it had it moments, and for them I don't regret reading it.
At least, it somehow made young people teake interest in books more. Starting with weak fiction, they can gradually come to strong literature.
Does anyone else think that this thread filled up so fast just because people wanted to do Bohemian Rhapsody?
@Badass:

I think it's actually been relatively slow today. A few days ago were doing 16-20 pages in a matter of hours. Today I think we've only done about 7 or 8.

I was the first person to suggest it, but I haven't been able to post lately.
@Silver: yeah the horcrux thing was one of the weaknesses of the series. We had 2 maybe 3 books in between seeing the first horcrux until the next one.
Overall though a brilliant series I think. Even series which possibly transcend the 10 out of 10 ranking system can have flaws.

No, it did so because Potter is mediocre.
Don't think I'll be around for the results of the debate. It's 12am and I need to wake up early tomorrow so I can finish studying for one of my hardest exams that starts at 2pm. I'll give it half an hour.
I'm like, half-asleep and half-angry. (My friends ate some of my Nutty Bars and I motherfucking love my Nutty Bars.)
Meanwhile, I have a debate to judge…
I wil lbe long gone because the uni shuts at 12 and it's nearly 10 past 11 now.
Harry Potter went from a kind of comedic satire to a WAY over-hyped "epic" adventure
After Book 4 the series went to shit for me, it went away from its initial style into something that sells a lot better..
Yeah, going to bed. I'll find out the results tomorrow. Later.

This .
I always liked it, but book 7 was most definately the weakest. Then again not everybody can do a good ending.
I remember how Harry trolled Voldy and got the super wand power…and Harry being the last hocruxe...most random bullshit ever.
Harry Potter is much fun, if you enjoy it for yourself. The fanbase contains some pretty freaky individuals.
I wish, I was there when J. K. Rowling discoverd the gigantic masses of terrible slash-fic with her characters.
Except for "My Immortal", that was the only good one.
Anyone else laugh when it was Neville who cut off that snake's head? As the series progressed, I started paying more attention to him (and Luna) than Harry.
@Cuddles:

Of course not. Neville was the main character. Dumbledore admitted it in book 5 that he was the secret chosen one.
and Harry being the last hocruxe…most random bullshit ever.
No it wasn't. People figured it out within hours of finishing book 6. It was pretty commonly accepted as being the case for the years between then and book 7 and there were an insane ammount of hints and clues towards that fact, once we knew what horocruxes were, and that they could be in living creatures or accidental (like the snake).
Just because HARRY was too stupid to figure out the obvious, doesn't mean the audience was.
So, I am officially skipping Diamond is Unbreakable in JoJo and moving on to Vento Aurero. At least until someone makes better scans of it.
Edit: 2001: A Space Odyssey is mentioned in the first panel of it .
I made it all the way through but that's because I'm a perfectionist. Part 3 is by far my fave part, I nearly jumped in the air when a Part 3 character returned later on.
don't skip diamond is unbreakable. It's really good. Despite the shit scans.
I'm not going to sit there and try to guess what they're trying to say.
the type is just really small. I'm sure you can get around it
A lot of the grammar and spelling is horrible as well. At least early on. I'm reading it on OM, though. Mangafox has better scans but they're missing a lot of chapters and later it gets to 2 page scans which are really hard to see.
Harry Potter is a good/great book series, but The Dark Tower is easily my favorite 7 book series, if not series in general.

You can download it and zoom to your heart's content.
I'm going to have to keep my labtop near me. My sister and I are about to have our weekly anime marathon. Sgt. Frog time!
I don't want to miss the Naruto Rhapsody, though.

You sir… are Classy.
I'm bored, so here's an uplifting song for y'all:

…I know I shouldn't be making 'useless' posts like this, but I am getting so antsy all of a sudden.
Oh… he met his mom... lemme guess she was a sacrifice for Kyuubi... =x
We still talking about decent fantasy books?
…has A Song of Ice and Fire been mentioned yet?
Anyone here read Eragon and Eldest? :x I barely remember what happened in those two..need to read the 3rd one as well…or do I? d:

I forgot about that book. But isn't it a series, too?
@ Chrissie: Eragon? You mean "Harry Potter goes Camping?"

Eh, 3rd one is kinda boring, wait till 4th one comes out and read all 4 in one weekend..XD
Chapter's out
