@Captain:
I know there are folks here who flip out on anyone who says anything negative about OP, but good god has this flashback arc just been riddled with tired cliches. None more worse than what we saw here. God, I couldn't even feel anything regarding the nobles since it was obvious Oda was trying waaaaaaay too hard to make them bastards. All they needed to do was kick a puppy and eat a baby. Shit gets boring after a point. I don't even hate them. They feel like fucking background.
Do you even know that actual things like that have happened all the time through history?
OMG I CANT BELEIVE PEOPLE WOULD RUIN AND MURDER POOR PEOPLE IN ORDER TO MAKE THEIR KINGDOM BETTER I KNOW LITERALLY JACK SHIT ABOUT HISTORY.
Vlad the Impaler did pretty much exactly the same damn thing. And I'll bet you fifty bucks he and his fellow nobility of Transylvania didn't bat an eyebrow of empathy about it.
But of course you're the same person who thinks of Chicago as some gang ridden slum when compared to Rio De fucking Janeiro of all places.
You're ignorance of the world is astounding as usual. I mean shit, they STILL did shit like this in the US in the 70's with the South Bronx.
And Sabo's line at the end was the worst thing ever. The whole thing about High Town being more stinky than Grey Terminal because of "rotten people" was so unbelievably corny my reaction could not be described as a mere facepalm.
What? What's wrong with it? One Piece is filled with lines like that.
I really hate you people who turn on Oda for things he's always done, like the dongs who were mad about chapters full of fighting during the War.
No, my friends, face and palm became one at that moment.
I love how you follow critiscizing that line with this played out bullshit.
Until Dragon showed up, this was looking to be another case of the cover page being way more interesting than the chapter itself… Aside from one or two moments here and there (Dadan's reveal, Garp's "hi kids, how ya doin--VICIOUS BEATING!!!"), these chapters have been boring as shit. How is it every Straw Hat gets a damn interesting backstory, yet the main character has the most boring, cliche'd, tiring backstory I've had to sit through...
It's cool as heck and you have absolutely no grounds to say it's different from the past ones.
This whole arc feels like canon filler. Complete with a child character who comes out of nowhere and becomes the focus of the arc. Sabo feels like a canon version of Apis…
You're going to need more similarities then "A KID WE JUST MET" to make this godawful point.
For god's sake, Dragon, save us! Save us from the cliche train, what rides on a track of boredom! Show us something interesting!
UGH, I DONT WANT TO WATCH INTERESTING LOCAL POLITICS, AND CHARCATERS HAVING EVERDAY ADVENTURES, MAKE SOMETHING BLOW UP ALREADY.
completely ignores that every flashback except Norland's had this same exact shit, and probably hates Norland's anyway
Had to get that out of my system. I feel better…
It was indeed a large crampy piece of shit.
@Sammsy:
funny reading last few pages in how so many people are saying this is more than just a childrens comic and there is lots of hidden deepre meanings and symbolism all the time in it.
yet when i brought up not too long ago about how if we learned about any of the fishman's identities who were slaves in the past that it would ruin the whole aspect of the Sun Tattoo, because it was there to make no one descriminate against someone for being a slave or not. Whether that person descriminating is people in one piece, or even us as the reader. And what did I get as a responce? I got a ton of people saying I'm a moron and quoting Oda saying he writes what he thinks a 15 year old will find cool and has no other deeper meanings.
Because as I explained to you at least twenty times the perception of the reader is an entirely different fucking thing then that of the characters in the story. Are you that incapable of seperating the fiction from the reality? Jesus christ this is a terrible point.
