Is Little Samson really that rare? I own it and had someone on my backloggery try and get it off me. (he was simply trying to do a trade tho) Then went to eBay and saw $150-$200 for it. Expensive sure, but nothing outrageous. Funny I've owned a rare game for 13 years and didn't even know it.
Huh i've got a copy of little samson in my closet, but it's a pal version so it's probably not worth as much.
The game is funny as shit tho, one of my all time favorite NES games.
the review was rly good…52 shitty games at once...uhhh he sure has to suffer much in the month he does his videos now^^
51 games, actually.
49, actually, because 2 of them didn't work.
wonder if that was just that one cartridge, or if they were all programed to crash
wonder if that was just that one cartridge, or if they were all programed to crash
It was just his cartridge. I searched for footage of those two games on YouTube, immediately after seeing they didn't load on his Nintoaster. I was not surprised at all. They sucked.
Actually, the game's notorious for having games run on the emulators, but not on the NES (and vice-versa). So it's not just his copy. It just happens to be REALLY shitty programming that works only when it wants to and under certain conditions. The ROM, however, seems to be more prone to crashing. Unless there was footage he opted to skip out on of that happening on his game.
i figured as much. just curious.
Alfredo never works on NES and most emulators .
The rebooted version for the Genesis , released years later , also does not work .
The only way to play Alfredo and Jigsaw is on Nesten .
As for the review , it was nice though he missed some stuff .
like what?
Well , all bosses being the same in all games , dying when touching the corner of a platform (in every platformer) . In Billy Bob (the prince of Persia rip off) levels 1 , and I think 3 abd 4 are all labeled "Level 1" , in the skyscraper game touching certain windows kills you , as does actualy touching money in that game with the party hat wearing dog with a rod , in that game with the falling meteors you have to shoot down like 120 meteors to advance while nothing moves and nothing happens if you miss all of em .
In the later level of Ninja Asault your character's sprite completely glitches up . Or how about how in Mash Man after you die you turn into what looks like a pink pair of shoes .
Loads more .
Like "Spider-Man" as an enemy in that brawler with "hookers."
Also kinda left out the backstory to Ooze and how it's impossible to actually fulfill the requirements for a contest involving it.
Actualy cheetahmen conerner somehow got there , using "glitches" as they put it and even put up a screenshot of the code message , in typical Active font .
Also the site explains that there was to be an action 52 for the SNES , a Sports 5 game and a Cheetahmen III game on active's OWN CONSOLE .
How lolsome would it be if it actualy happened ?
Oh and they also have an interview with Obernole , who participated both in the creation on the genesis version of A52 as well as ….Colour a Dinosaur . Wow , what a portfolio .
@ Tsukento : wanted to say that but it sliped my mind . Loads more . Watch Mikey Spikey's ten part review if you wanna see all of the games in action , most of what is possible .
New Board James.

Hopefully no one here owns a Mr. Bucket. XD
it was rly a good made video, but thats not rly what i hope to get from boardjames.
it was okay to have it once done like that, but i hope he will get back to the style of the first episodes.
he dont have to film here short horrormovies to enjoy me or make a big project out of every episode.. it
s more funny in my eyes when he shows his ecpierence with the game and how he plays it..not some mini-movie!
I just watched the new review and it was alright and all, however I couldn't help noticing that his anger throughout the video seemed somehow forced (at some parts, not all).
Yeah the first time he burst out was a little…..fake .
As for the review , it is nice but it seems pointless to wait a whole month to finish A52 on the NES and then blitz through the genesis version and do the genesis Cheetahmen .
He should have done an episode seperately on both versions I think .
Also why did he not do his homework ? Like finding out that there was a SNES Action 52 planned as well as a Cheetahmen III ? And Action's own console ?
You said "planned", so pointing out these facts seems rather useless and besides, it would have taken him approximately 30 seconds to inform us of that. If he didn't have anything to show us, why bother telling us about it?
There's a joke or two can be made out of Cheetahmen III topic .
Thta and the person involved with Active's A52 on the genesis was also involved in "Colour a Dinosaur" (I recognise that is straying from the point but meh)
what's with screw attack's web page. maybe i can get there from game trailers
New AVGN is up. This month is Game Glitches!
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/angry-video-screwattack/701484
! Pretty good review considering he wasn't actually going after a specific game this time. Probably could've done without the Glitch Gremlin though.
i didn't mind the glitch gremlin. i thought he did a good job of being an annoying prick. i was a little disapointed james didn't delve into fixing glitches a little more. I use rubbing alcohol, as it evaporates quicker. i've also been told NOT TO BLOW IN THE CARTIRIGES. that just gets spit in them and rusts the connectors. if they do get rusted, you very carefully get some fine sand paper and carefully sand the rust off. then clean it again.
there's also dealing with loose connectors in the console. you can try pushing the game in only a little bit to make the game work. or cleaning the connectors in the console. i've talked to someone who can fix the connectors, and he talked about looping fishing wire around them or something to carefully realign them and tighten them, but it's very tricky and you can end up messing them up very easily. I had a friend just buy new connectors on e-bay for his NES.
Ok the Clubber fuck is one of the most fucked up things I have ever seen .
I did not like this one at all… Half of the stuff aren't even glitches.

What are you talking about? Everything he showed was a glitch.
@No:

Ha, shit, got that right!
I thought it was an alright episode. I even thought my browser fucked up at the beginning of the video. Well played, Nerd. Well played.
What are you talking about? Everything he showed was a glitch.
Yeah, I don't really get how those aren't glitches when clearly they are. Every game shown had a fuck up that wasn't part of the normal gameplay. :s
I had this weird glitch the other day while playing Mr. Gimmick . The rom I had didn't display the bar correctly but the game itself was displayed without a hitch …..and then in one spot after loading I literaly fell into a diferent room which did not exist , actualy twice , the other one lead me back out and the enemy sprites were diferent ones and there was a platform hanging out of reach at the begining of the level , just as an example .
And recently when I played Tekken (1 on the Playstation (1)) , my character suddenly froze sporadicaly in a poze like he was thrown against a window and remained hanging like that in midair for a second , and then began teleporting a huge ass distance when I started to walk away from my enemy .
Thought I'd share .
The newest episode is out! Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.
http://www.gametrailers.com/video/angry-video-screwattack/702460
The AVGN takes a look at the most polarizing game in the Zelda franchise.
Great review as usual. I love how he inadvertantly beat the game with the power glove at the end. As for me, I gave up on Zelda II around the second level. As he said, it gets really hard after that.
Anyway, has anyone else noticed how the second game of a lot of franchises is the underrated oddball game?
Zelda II
Super Marios Bros. 2
Metroid II: Return of Samus
Of course, there are times when it's the exact opposite.
Megaman 2
Starfox 64
Donkey Kong Country 2
ah this was good. i enjoyed a nostalgic look at this game. I do love it, but it is tough as hell. maybe i'll take another crack at it some day with gamefaq close by. It would be nice to beat it some day. not sure if i got it in me though. :\

StarFox 64 is more of a remake than a sequel.
Though on the oddballs, you forgot to mention Castlevania II. As for the opposites, there's also Ninja Gaiden II and Double Dragon II on the NES and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. :P
I'm hoping this is the last time Glitch Goblin shows up.
Great review. Man, I knew about Zelda II, but I didn't know it was pretty hard to beat. And those glitches that happened made me lol.
The ending with the power glove was the best.

Ah, thank you. Truth be old, I've never played Ninja Gaiden II or Double Dragon II. Oh, and also there's Street Fighter II.
Ah, thank you. Truth be old, I've never played Ninja Gaiden II or Double Dragon II. Oh, and also there's Street Fighter II.
Fuck. I knew I forgot something major in there.
But yeah, Ninja Gaiden II greatly improved on all of the problems that plagued the first title. In the first, if you fell into a pit but clung onto a wall in the last second, you were basically screwed as you couldn't climb out. They added a climbing feature in the second title. Plus you also got shadow clones to deal with constant barrages of enemies flying at you and they didn't take damage.
The biggest and greatest addition that the second Double Dragon had over the first was the ability to have a second player join in with you. For whatever reason, the NES version of the first game didn't have two players (yet the Master System version did). Though, with the amount of slowdown the MS version suffered through, I guess that might be why it wasn't included on the NES.

New episode is out.
Re-playing some of his older reviewed games..and with special attention on Back to the future^^
Looks like next month might be a revisit to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Mainly due to the fact that he never actually covered the game and only recorded the frustration of not being able to do anything and randomly dying. Also kinda sad that he didn't mention the Telltale announcement of BttF games. Though all in all, a great video and a nice jab at George Lucas going back to older work and tampering with them in the beginning of the video.
Good review, and an interesting idea to go back and expand on some of his old reviews. At first I thought he was serious about re-editing his old videos and then I though, "Hey, isn't this what George Lucas did?" And around then he revealed it to be a joke.
Oh, and I loved his reaction to the Super BttF II Famicom game.
$10 says his next review is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde revisited.
Oh, and I loved his reaction to the Super BttF II Famicom game.
That would make it the second time he's flipped out over missing out on good games for a franchise he loved that got some awful games.
Would have said third if he hadn't reviewed the newer Ghostbusters game as himself. :p

i'd rather keep my 10 dollars
James wants to make a AVGN-movie!!!
Still a long way to go but at least it already exists a script.

Wow, that's awesome news! I will so see it when he releases it, even if it takes a couple of years.
Damn! Best news I've heard all day! I do wonder, though, what he's actually been doing in the two years since he finished the script (aside from making AVGN reviews). But yeah, I don't care if it takes 2 or 5 or 10 years, I will patiently wait.
Will angryvideogamenerd review a one piece or naruto game?
@Tamaki:

Uh, no? He only reviews old games.
