Sorry to stir the pot, but I have to agree with Blacksmith. Prototypes are often the original sculpt and professionally painted, and they make you go O_O OHMYGOODNESSIHAVETOHASIT. After mass production gets through with it, you're like, "uhm… it's still good, but why can't it look more like the original?" LOL figure collector bait and switch XD
Also just speaking as a person who has a great deal of ace merch (and that scrutinizes it on a daily basis along with the manga, anime, and fanart ace pics), the ones that I feel look most like him are Alabasta MBH, Keychain with him asleep, and the action figure one (also the WFC did a great job). That's considering how his face and look have changed, each of those figures suits him very well for the time period. GLM just doesn't resemble him facially well, his face is far too long, not a fan of the eyes either.
What do you think, Rona? You probably have a handful more ace figures than me. Darn you need MBH Alabasta Ace! He's so perfect qI almost want to buy him for you XD
As for the DX ace costing so little, I'd rather him cost $200+ and be the best thing EVER in paint, sculpt, and quality, than get another ace that's cheaper than the POPs. Of course, I have a lot of Ace stuff. I just want one perfect one. I don't care about the price. I was SO excited when I thought it cost more, because I thought, "this is it. THE ONE." Like those HotToys figures. Those are costly, but you can't really do any better. I'd like that for Ace.

Haha I have plans for them when i get my own house in the future I would totally freed all of my POP, GLM & MBH in their custom shelf that i plan to make for them! So that my friends or visitor will feels like they just enter an anime convention event =p

Ah ok i understand. I know what you mean, dust seems to be the biggest enemy of those kind of figures. Especially if you take pictures with a high quality camera you notice every little dust on the picture. I wish i had some kind of glass cabinet but right now i have just no place for that. If i see correctly do you have all POPs except Lucci and Aokiji? That is gonna look awesome and you have some that i am still looking for so you are ahead of me.:happy:

I remember seeing Sogeking in one of our retail shop for around 50€, will check it out for u ^.^
From an artistic perspective, the figure that actually has the closest resemblance to the original Ace artwork (from years ago) is actually the Flex Action figure Ace. (to me, at least.) At first glance it's a little strange that his pupils look so buggish, but that's only cause they didn't line the bottom of the eye - closer inspection shows that his lower eyelids are indeed there. I'd post a better picture of it but my camera resolution is really low.
I adore my GLM Ace to bits. And I like it way more than the POP. But I must admit that the face isn't as spot on as it could be. His freckles are not subtle enough, and his eyes are more heavily outlined than I'd like. But in terms of quality, it's definitely the best sculpt I have of Ace so far. The new Banpresto Ace resembles Oda's newer Ace depiction more closely, so if you compare it to the slightly grittier Ace face from over 5 years ago it wouldn't be as accurate, either. Different perspectives, I guess.
But I love all my Ace figures just the same. u
