"A matter of taste," said the dog and continued to lick his own balls.
Hopefully I'll watch this movie pretty soon and judge for myself whether it's terrible or not.
Well, Ebert liked it.

Not that this is helping Yonkou's case.

I didnt say it to convince you. Notice how nowhere in my post did i say you have to go see it, or you must see it, or even see it. I just said it was great. I don't give a crap if my opinion holds no weight with retards such as yourself.

You be quiet now.
But at least we agree that we don't care about each others opinions.
Saw it today. Movie was better then I thought it would be. Though some of little Jaydens lines were kind of corny, I can tell they were just ment for the children.
! The fight scenes in this movie were great imo and the way Jacky tought Jayden his Kong fu was very good. Actually this is one of the best movies Jackie Chun has done in a LONG time. His character was perfect and he was great in his drunk scene. Jayden really worked his body out great for this movie for a 11(or 12) year old. That tournament was also great and that last fight and the crane was superb. I also liked how Jayden played his hurt scenes. You saw the tears in his eyes and you really felt for his character. It's like how a real 11 year old would act if he was hurt big props for that. Other then that it was a great movie. Though I crenged every time the mother was on screen. How the hell did she win a oscar. She's TERRIBLE. Other then that it was a great movie, I actually reccommend any Jackie Chan fan to go see it. It's one of his best roles period.

Yes because telling someone who HASNT seen the movie to be quiet for bashing it after i DID see he movie is the same as going out of your way to search for a pic to basically flame someone… Did you even see the movie?
One question… Do they play 'You're the Best Around' and show Jaden in an compelling 80's montage?
That's what I thought.

I didn't really go outta my way to find it, it was easy.
Not everything has to be experienced to know it's bad.

There is a montage but no Your the best around. This movie is actually more brutal then the original even though the children are younger in this one. I will even go so far as to say that the new movies school bully would wipe the floor with the original any day.
Maybe I should have seen Karate Kid instead of "Splice" this weekend. Splice was just horrible.

It's actually not as bad as you think. But it's your opinion…Reminds me of a friend of mine who won't read One piece because he saw Luffy in a 4kids commercial one time and thought it was kiddy and stupid. I told him to give it a chance but he made fun of me. But hey I to him the same thing, It's your opinion.

It's a little different here. I didn't take one look at it and throw it aside, I read about it and watched multiple trailers. The actors, story and "re-hash old ideas" theme did not appeal to me at all.
Same thing with Transformers. Read up on it and the actors, director, story and clips all painted a grim picture. I never saw it at the theaters because I thought it would be bad but one night a buddy of mine rented it so we could sit and make fun of it. The movie was worse then I had pictured.
That's kinda funny about your friend, I started watching One Piece when it was done by 4kids but I stuck through it because beyond the awful voice acting, edits and terrible intro, I saw a great story. I started watching it subbed with friends but after reading the manga I never looked back at the anime. We still watch it from time to time but we discuss the manga more because that's what's canon.

Yeh, the weird thing about it was he was a Yu gi oh fan…But life is about first impressions. Yu gi oh was just awful...

That is really weird, I completely agree with you that it was awful.
Ever thought of making a new challenge for Greg?

Now that you mention it I should!

i liked it it could have been shorter but kids and adults will like watching it. the fights were great and I like jaden smith in this one
This movie might be cooler than I originally thought. :?
Go see the movie.
Had low expectations, was pleasantly surprised. It had a lot of heart, and the fighting was both brutal and believable. Probably one of the best movies Chan has been in in years. Absolutely worth a watch, if only to see kids get beat down like ADULTS.
wow this thread hasn't gotten a lot of love.
i just got to go see the movie last night. I was very impressed. especially after reading all the flack at how different it was. It's the same story set in a different time, and a different place. FINALLY. a GOOD REMAKE. I was in tears during the car scene. I also liked how they dealt with the whole respect issue. we need more of that now-a-days

Where's my award bitch?
Just finished watching this.
I liked it a lot. The choregraphy of the fights are entertaining and there is a little emotional background of the characters.
And Jackie Chan is often a good thing.
Go watch it, you'll not disappointed.
So I watched the movie… and it's pretty damn good. The fights were great, the acting was superb and the characters were believable. Jackie Chan was great as teacher and the scene in the car reminded me what good of an actor Jackie Chan is.
Jaden Smith is great. He really reminds me of his dad
I'm pretty surprised they didn't use "the Crane" as the finishing move in the tournament, probably because everyone expected it. But that backflip was awesome anyway.
Saw it. Movie with a lot of heart indeed. Great acting, great characterization, great fights (though that was inevitable with Jackie Chan on board) and a lot of respect to the culture.
That scene with Jaden and Jackie in the car is definitely going into my top ten greatest emotional scenes ever. So believable, so palpable, so sad. You see so many of those scenes butchered by Hollywood with wonky flashbacks and emotionally disconnected survivors and then you have this movie, where the cause of death was simply a car crash, and Jackie just slowly describes the details as he breaks down and you really feel for him way more than some cheap dramatization.
Mom was the absolute worst part of the movie. Oh god, I cringed every time she had a scene. Here was her son fighting in a brutal battle about strength, honor, standing up for yourself, courage, will, determination, perseverance carrying all the dreams and aspirations of himself and of his mentor who had decided to pool all his energies into his student to make up for his tragic loss all the while getting beaten, brutalized and broken by powerful opponents with their own agendas which they fully believed in…and she just kept hooting and hollering like the whole thing was a goddamn junior league soccer match. She tainted almost every epic scene in the movie.
Kinda dumb that the movie was called Karate Kid when the kid was clearly practicing Kung Fu but that's cheap Hollywood promotion campaigns for you. At least they had the decency to rename the mentor Mr. Han to respect the legacy of Pat Morita as Mr. Miyagi.
