I need to get that nintendo wi-fi adaptor for the coming Yellow Forest event. I would love a pikachu that knows fly and surf.
I'm still trying to catch Entei. I use my Snorlax to block it so it couldn't run but it used roar and made me flee. How did you catch yours?
My Honchkrow first used Mean Look then I used Taunt, that way it stays and is unable to Roar.
Just outta curiousity, what pokemons are your HM slaves? I've been using my Nidoking.
Sudowoodo and Bibarel… when i need fly il get pidgey
I use mew the ultimate hm slave :)
Well i finally got the Pikachu colored Pichu onto SS, and my Scyther is now a Scizor. That helps with a ton of my team's weaknesses.

Man I just cant bring myself to evolve Scyther even though I know its a good idea. Scizor just looks so stupid to me but on the other hand I am at the point where I need to beat the Elite 4 so perhaps its a necessary sacrifice. Maybe I need to learn how to make my own sprites.
I got me an ExtremeSpeed Dragonair! Got it as a Dratini, I'm pretty close to evolving it to Dragonite.
Jesus, Sabrina's only the second gym leader in Kanto and she was tougher than battling 20 Lances at the same time. For some reason all the wild pokemon in Kanto seem to be under level 15 so I can't even train.

Yeah,I hated her Espeon, she was the only Kanto Gym Leader I lost to…
And around Cinnabar Island is Lvl 30-35 Tentacools and Tentacruels, thats probably the best you'll get in Kanto.
Also I managed to catch Moltres,Raikou, and Latios!
Only Ho-oh,Mewtwo,and Groudon left in SS.
I really like the game. It really reminds of the memories I had playing Silver. I'm trying to level up now and be able to face Red. But it's hard to get experience.
My Team
Feraligatr-70
Pichu- 48
Torterra- 66
Lugia- 52
Noctowl- 42
Swampert- 48
Thank goodness for exe. share.

Did anyone go to the effort of finding someone else with a copy and trading and restarting to get all the starters like I did? o_O Also, I'mma using a normal Gyrados as my HM thing. I'm going to teach it whirlpool once I've finished the 8th Gym. D:

Damn, someone is representing Hoenn.
I've played enough of the games at this point sticking to the Gen 2 critters didn't really interest me, I've used the likes of Marrill, Sentret, Togepi Donphan etc. several times already. So I started with a lot of the things I'd accumulated in Diamond, that I got too late to actually level up for the actual story stuff. I'm trying to use stuff with interesting side abilities, like spore, Absol's super luck, or Dunsparce's double effect %.
Absol and Dunsparce are turning out pretty amazing, (especially for non-evolving critters) but Cyndaquil isn't quite cutting it. I use Sandslash every game cause i love its design in both forms, but its typing and movepool just aren't very good, even with earthquake and iron tail taught to it. Not when Aron is hitting all the same territory and has the steel defenses. (and the same water weakness…) My compromise for my favorite poke is he gets to go on the pokewalker walks.
Dunsparce... sucks about as much as legend made out. I thought doubling it up with a rain dancing lotad would work, but it just... sucks. I may drag in a Shroomish to do its job instead. Oh these games. Even when you think about it way in advance and plan a lot, things still end up changing on you...
Yeah this is probably my favorite of the pokemon games relised so far (then again I've always been a huge Gen 2 fan). This time around I traded some pokemon over from Diamond just so I could have them earlyer in the game and get the exp boost. I traded over a Scther (then traded back later on in to Scizor), Horsea (after it reacehes level 42 going to let it evove in to seadra and then trade it so it becomes a kingdra when I get the dragon scale), and Larvitar (since you can't even get him in heartgold till very late in the game). My other pokemon are curently Crobat, Ampharos, and Quilava. I also have to say I love the pokewalker it's pretty nice getting free items from just walking around at work all night lol.
I would love to trade in my Infernape and Empoleon but sadly I sold my Diamond and Pearl along with the old DS. :S
I've never made such a stupid mistake in my life that I'll regret for a long time. Oh well. I'm already at Mt. Silver
@robbybedfart:

To this day, it still bothers me that Sandslash hasn't learned at least Earthquake on its own. If it didn't learn Sand Tomb starting in 3rd Gen, I'd swear Game Freak hated it learning any Ground-type attacks.
Same deal with Voltorb learning Spark in 3rd Gen and its lack of Electric moves learned via level up in the 1st and 2nd Gens.
Voltorb and Sandshrew seem to be the forgotten pokes after the first gen. Especially considering the ones they used to apparently 'parrallel' (Pikachu and Magnemite) became so awesome.
Personally I'm hoping those two become more playable in the future. As well as a Fire/Ghost evo for Rapidash or Ninetails.
Game Freak has seemed to have forgotten about the entire Fighting-type and how to make it good. Remember when a Mankey could destroy a whole cave full of Defense Curl-whoring Geodude and Sandshrew? Yeah, neither do I.
Same goes for the Poison-type. The days of Zubat and it's evos being worth a damn are long gone.
Why the heck can my Tauros learn Whirlpool; which is a water move? o__o''
Probably because the Psychic types dominate pretty much everything.
Is there such a thing as a Dark/Fighting or a Ghost/Fighting? That would be pretty awesome.
@-:

Same reason it can learn Surf, I suppose.

It's a water buffalo, duh.

Fucking Alakazam with it's cheap as hell Psychic and Kinesis.
I'm waiting on Ground/Fighting, so I can name it Whitebeard.
Red's going to kick my ass so bad, my pokemon are level 60 and 61 and I can only bring like 3 of them because I need HM slaves for the cave…
I've been having fun, in figuring out a interesting moveset for Snorlax and so far it's been pain in the ass to other trainers. =)
Right now it has: Rest,Earthquake,Toxic and Substitute.
It was made for fun til, I got the real move set through breeding but so far, my Tank Snorlax has made so freaking interesting, only til come across gengar than it becomes a dead weight pkmn. =I

I'd settle for it naturally learning "dig". But yeah, its bad when a critter doesn't have a single natural attack move of its own type.
Having a lousy one isn't much better. Btu Shrew doesn't even get that, not even a lousy Mud Shot.
Freaking Cubone and Marrowak get like, 3 different moves that are entirely unique to their family, whats up with that?
Farfetched is another one demanding an upgrade of some sort. A unique rare item that increases it likelihood of criticals just… isn't enough.
I know not every creature can be great, but they should all at least be adequate among their own type.
Also, hopefully next game won't have nearly as many new water critters. I know the ocean is a big chunk of the game, but water types or subtypes take up roughly 1/5 of the current roster. Which is a ridiculous ratio considering theres 17 element types.
Give us steel/grass, or fire/ghost, or some other sort of crazy thing.
47 bug, 23 dark, 20 dragon, 28 electric, 22 ice, 25 fight, 33 fire, 65 flying, 18 ghosts (I'm not counting rotom 5 times), 55 grass, 48 ground, 37 rock, 100 water, 79 normal (and almost none of them dual typed) 50 poison, 53 psychic, 26 steel.
Considering fire has like 12 slots going to starters and 5 to legendaries, its pretty under-represented. ALong with dragon, ice, dark, ghosts, fight, steel, and electric, oddly. (I guess Pikachu needs to remain domiant. And dark and steel didn't come ttill gen 2, so theres a reason…)
@robbybedfart:
Hell, fix Paras too.
I know not every creature can be great, but they should all at least be adequate among their own type.
If you're going to make a Bug-type worth a damn, fix Venonat. Being Bug/Poison isn't that much of a distinction anymore.
@Cyan:

Yeah. They changed bug strengths and weaknesses a lot after the first gen. It got screwed.
Bug
Can Damage A lot
grass, psychic, dark
Can't Damage
ghost, poison, steel, fight, fire, flying,
Strong against
fight, grass, ground
Weak against
fire, flying, rock
Poison

grass
Can't Damage
ghost, poison, steel, rock, ground,

Weak against

Ground and rock have always has an incredible ammount of overlap as well, to the point of stupidity. The main difference between them is ground is immune to electric and can't hit flying. therwise they overlap alot, and its always annoying because I can't remember which is which for certain specifics.
I almost managed to own Red if it wasn't for his PAIN IN THE ASS PIECE OF SHIT SNORLAX and the fact that none of my Pokemon know any fighting-type attacks.

And the Godchu didn't give you trouble?
I wonder if the 5th gen, is gonna balance out the roster? I mean I didn't even realize the dominance of water until Robbybedfart put that chart up.
But hey, Sandshrew does need love and so does ditto, I mean its cool to transform but I need a little more from that guy. But it may just be me.
@Cyan:

Not as much, just had my Typhlosion use Dig.

I can see the Water-type dominate the other 16 elemental types.
Just look at the planet we're on.
Only 18 Ghost-types.
Agatha must be rolling in her grave and Morty must be crying in his basement.
I'll say this much after getting the first 8 badges, and getting the right to get Ho-Oh, and making it to the Indigo plateau this game can be a ball buster I now got to decide which pokemon to train so I can fight the Elite Four and god knows how long that'll take.
In Kanto, looking for a Lickitung. If anyone has one, I'll gladly take it off your hands.
I guess I can part with mine since I know I won't be using it.
@Cyan:

No,she just changed her name to Bertha and started collecting Ground-types. :ninja:
I mean there designs are so closely alike…especially the hair...

And then Volkner realized how over-saturated Electric-types are and got bored again and switched franchises to Naruto where he went under the alias "Minato Namikaze" before sealing a demonic fox in his son. His last words were, "Fuck…Solar panels..."
Did someone suggest fixing paras? one of the few pokemon to learn spore? :|
anyway, I hope for a NOT fire-fighting starter in the 5th gen. and for a grass starter that people actually LIKE.
anyway, I hope for a NOT fire-fighting starter in the 5th gen. and for a grass starter that people actually LIKE.
People didn't like Torterra? Other than screaming in rage when an Ice Beam comes my way, he was a great tank and annoyer.
I can understand people not liking Sceptile or Meganium, since neither really did anything special. Venusaur is still my favorite starter yet, though. Saur's ability to piss people off is only beaten by my Umbreon using Toxic and watching with a smirk as they die.
I agree with wanting a new fire starter that is not a fighting dual type. Blaziken and Infernape back-to-back was too boring. I'm hoping for pure fire or fire/dragon. I mean we still have not seen a fire/dragon type, right? It seems obvious.
I still want a Fire/Grass type, ever since I made a crappy drawing of one in like 5th grade.
Can you buy coins in the US version of the game? (At the Goldenrod thingie to get Icebeam etc.?) Because if so: I hate you all! :(
Got through the first half of the game with my team of Murkrow, Staryu and Ampharos, but I'm kinda stuck at Lance now. Updated my team with a Swampert (bred a lot of Mudkips to get a good one :D) but still can't get past Lance. Probably because I can't get my hands on any physical Ice Attack to teach it. And my Staryu is complete, I don't want to unlearn anything. :(
So now I'm trying to add Jolteon and Tentacruel to my team.
Luckily water types are easily level in Victory Road.
Oh god, I hate those Dragonites.
Will I be screwed in Kanto or will I be screwed in Kanto? :D
Agatha (Kikuko) and Bertha (Kikuno) has to be either sisters or cousins.
I still want a Fire/Grass type, ever since I made a crappy drawing of one in like 5th grade.
I don't think that'll ever happen.
It'll burn itself to death. lmao
I would say, "the same goes with Water/Fire and Grass/Water", but I look like Lotad and it's family.
Although, it's Water/Grass, I believe.
Agatha (Kikuko) and Bertha (Kikuno) has to be either sisters or cousins.
Wow, only a single letter difference. Guess the simiarities don't end on appearances alone.:ninja:
Doesn't Bertha actually say in the game about a relation?
Doesn't Bertha actually say in the game about a relation?
Nope. You'd think so, but nope.
Doesn't Bertha actually say in the game about a relation?
Knowing little facts like that for certain is what made me love the Fame Checker in Fire Red and Leaf Green. Randomly inspect a bookcase and it says "Claire and Lance are cousins" or "Mr. Fuji and Blaine are best friends" and whatnot. It was a fun addition that added to the characters. I was sad that none of the later games (Emerald, DPPl, and I think HGSS) had that.
That reminds me, one of the Fame Checker things about Lance said something about a grandfather who ran a dragon clan or something. Was that Drake or something?
Can you buy coins in the US version of the game? (At the Goldenrod thingie to get Icebeam etc.?) Because if so: I hate you all! :(
Blame Europe since they're the reason you can't buy coins to play slots in the game.
