Yeah KH/ff fanboys are almost as bad as Naruto (then again, all fanboys are horrible in their own special way)
Games That Everybody Loves, But You Hate
-
-
I love DKC, though I probably am not old enough to have paid attention to the hype at the time.
-
here's one that hasn't been mentioned.
donkey kong country. (i know i'm gonna hear it about this one) I think it was just so overhyped and thrown in my face when it came out that i just had no desire to play it.don't worry Captain. It's a personal classic for me, but i'll give you credit for diversifying
I was a kid.. and I rented it one day. Loved the shit outta all 3 of them (2 was my favortie). Great looking graphics and amazing music.
Just-plain-fun and simple 2d platformers (although there were some very challenging moments).
I guess I really didn't care or notice the marketing back in the day.
The series officially died when the nintendo 64 iteration was released. Sad day for me that was. I remember saying something along the lines of:
"I already own Banjo-Kazooie, why is it like this?"
-
I was also subscribing to nintendo power at the time. got a freaking video on how it was made and everything @_@ I had a roomate who said he understood after I showed him the video. lol. I like the video, btw. XD
-
WoW: looks boring and dry as hell. eats up time, and I hate real time strategy. I can't think that fast. ><
World of Warcraft isn't a RTS, tho. Perhaps you meant the old Warcraft games?
I hope Blizzard will someday make another Warcraft RTS game. Doesn't even have to be old school base building style RTS game like Starcraft II will be. They could try to take the whole RTS/RPG hybrid design even further (MMORTS? :silly:). Do it a bit like Dawn of War II. That DoW model is becoming really popular anyway. Even the new C&C game is doing something similar.

It's as much an RTS game as the KOTR games. Which I keep hearing be called RTS's. Too many acronyms.

You're talking about Donkey Kong 64? I loved that game when I first played it. Could never beat the game though :ermm: . I do agree that Banjo Kazooie is much better though.

Damn Gekko you're brutal some times.

Damn Gekko you're brutal some times.
damn straight I am.
And last I checked, Epic Mickey STILL looks like goddamn Gex 64.
But that'll have to be added to this thread some other day
-
Oh God, Gex 64
Banjo Tooie AND DK 64 were both awesome as fuck, though
-

Would kind of go against the idea of the thread I don't know of anyone who liked that game.
-
I'd be intrested in Epic Mickey if it weren't for the fact that its called Epic Mickey.
Oh and the recent posts remind me…I've never liked Banjo-Kazooie.
-
Wow. And people were suprised about me hating Uncharted 2.
Banjo and Kazooie was AMAZING! (Although never got the chance to play the second one.) The world were just wow. And back then it was tough XD I still remember having nightmares about Mad Monster Mansion or whatever the horrorland was called lol
And not one for hate. But the whole Final Fantasy series is VERY overrated. Especially when you compare them to the likes of Suikoden and Dragon Quest (I know the latter is huge in Japan.)
Another game I couldn't get into which people said was awesome was Persona 3. Just coudln't get into it.
-
All soccer games !

your probably right. meh, still don't like either

I found that, lately, I cannot stand how generic the shooter genre has become…
Gone are the days of crazy weapons...
Realism sucks...
Edit: As for a specific game? Grand Theft Auto 4.
I think of all the things that it doesn't have that GTA San Andreas did and I sigh...
-
Would kind of go against the idea of the thread I don't know of anyone who liked that game.
oh I was talking about Epic Mickey. Can't completely hate a game that hasn't been released yet. But i'm more or less joking
I enjoyed Banjo-Kazooie. Played the shit outta it.
Hated DK64 though… it just threw away what made me love the originals.
@Captain Usopp- I remember the hype videos. But the only ones I watched were some of the later 64 ones. But I was a kid... so I ate it up. I think I still have the Starfox64 one somewhere. They just kept going on and on about the rumble pack. But SF64 was great... loved it!
Suikoden rocks Yoska
-
ya, i'm pretty sure I'm a bit older than you. I was in high school when those came out.

I agree with ya about missing crazy ass guns and such…but, you also reminded of a game I dislike that many cherish, GTA San Andreas, never got really into it and began to loathe later on, mainly because I was hearing about it every day.
-
Realism sucks…
I guess I'm the opposite of this, part of the reason I can't stand Crackdown or Saint's Row because how over the top they are in every aspect.
And not one for hate. But the whole Final Fantasy series is VERY overrated.
I guess if you're talking about most of japan but we Americans and Europeans on the other hand…
-
he is euopean.
local, have you tried any old school FF games. before it went mainstream?
I really really love FF6. -
Yeah. 1-6 were pretty awesome I admit. I meant the whole thing after FF6 which basically kicked it in the crotch.
-
-
Realism sucks…
I'm getting tired of a lot of developers trying to make games into generic piles of realistic crap as possible.
If I see one more generic, gray and brown serious FPS…
-
Generic gray and brown?
Welcome to 2006, buddy, where your comment is almost relevantI'll make a list
COD
MOH?
KZThose are all I can think of. GOW is a TPS.
-
Mass Effect. That game bored the hell out of me.
-
^One of my all time favs.
Recent most gray and brown games I can think of are…
Metal Gear Solid 4
Fallout 3 (Fallout was like that back in year 1997!)
Machinarium.Machinarium is probably worst of those 3:
[hide]
[/hide]If you don't like those colours then stay away from that one. I think it's beatiful but whatever.I can't agree with the sentimental, tho. There are probably more variety of FPS games then ever before so the whole generic FPS argument seems nonsensical and a fad. And realism can be both good or bad, but it's neither automatically. Personally, for example, I love realistic physics in video games.
-
MGS4 wasn't all gray and brown.
-
I'm getting tired of all these fps crowding the market.
I can't say they're bad, its just most of them don't appeal to me. Especially the brown, gray and black ones. :getlost:
Why can't the industry focus more on platformers, like it used to!
-
I think the best FPS I've ever played was the Half-Life series. There's something in those games for everyone. They need to make more games like Indigo Prophecy too.
-
Yeah there was this one white snow level, right? xD
I have to admit it felt kinda brown and grey for me, too. Mostly after playing MGS 3 in the jungle. But it was still very atmospheric, especially the parts in Europe and the Middle East.Just like the others, I have a dislike for Kingdom Hearts, no hate, because I actually never played any of them. But the way the characters look like…guh
Same goes for most of the 3-D Sonic games. The 2-D ones are lighthearted and I love to play them, but the new ones try too hard to be "cool" and "badass". Shadow the Hedgehog is the embodiement of everything I loathe about the progression of this series. -
Thats funny i want a PS3 just for MGS4 well not anymore but yopu get it.
Anyway i looked at Shadow the Hedgehog and it doesnt look terrible but is it really that bad?
Love Madden considering im a huge NY Jets fan i never use any other football team which is weird but i love it.
-
There are plenty of other games on the PS3 besides MGS4. Have you played the others?
-
one of the reason's I really like the Uncharted games is that they pretty much went against the grey and brown market and made just about all the scenery gorgeous!
-
Why can't the industry focus more on platformers, like it used to!
I'm guessing Ninja BreadMan and a slew of other [bad] platformers killed the desire for them.
-

or people just gobble up the new Mario/Ratchet and Clank/Spyro games?
Not saying those are bad of course.
-

But they still represent everything typical and annoying in gaming and get way too much credit for what they are.
This generation does have SOME good platformers, guys. Assassin's Creed 2 is Banjo Kazooie for the people like myself who grew up along that timeline. Granted, BK, DK64, and BT (the Rare trilogy of platformers) still kicks AC2's ass, but for a modern platformer, it's pretty fantastic and atmospheric enough to make up for its faults.
-
or people just gobble up the new Mario/Ratchet and Clank/Spyro games?
I Thought people hated the new Spyro games.
-
no idea? I thought they stopped making them years ago and saw some for the PS3 lol
Well. The first one was fun XD Maybe it died to death like Crash Bandicoot?
-

I said it once I'll say it again, if this was 2006 your comment on brown and gray fps would almost be relevant. The only big brown/gray FPS I can really think of besides the usual COD (which everyone thinks is the only fps on the market) is KZ2.
Call Halo what you want, but it's nowhere near generic or bray or grown.
-
Uncharted 2
Tried and Tried again to try and enjoy this game, aside from the brilliant first level its just over-rated Tomb Raider clone. (but without boobs) I've never even considered returning a game or selling one but this will definitaly be my first.
If it wasn't a Europe copy I'd buy it off you.
I LOVE how everyone is shitting on AC1 since AC2 came out. The first was hailed, but when the second improved on it the first is insta-crap? I guess all in a series that were improved in later installments suck. Noted.
-
I took it back yesterday XD Kicked up a fuss and they gave me a whole refund.
With part of the money I bought Ghostbusters on Blu-Ray XD Only £5 XD I even have money leftover for Bayonetta when it comes out.
-
I actually liked the first AC1, but AC2 is just so much better it's not even funny. I wasn't really annoyed by the repetitiveness, I still enjoyed it. AC2 is just a greater game overall, though, easily one of the most improved sequels of all time
-
AC2 is a lot of fun… but i'm in Venice, and the magic is starting to wear off on me.
And I still prefer a stealth-assassin type games to allow me a bit more diversity with my marks. AC2 does give a couple missions the option to be completely unnoticed, but most of the time it's more concerned with story moments than giving the player more freedom with how to approach a kill. Thank god for the assassination side-missions (best fucking addition to a series about killing people)
I dunno... I-O Interactive needs to give up on their Kane and Lynch sequel and make another goddamn Hitman game... 47 needs to show gamers how professionals work

I really really love FF6.For me, 4 and 6 are the most overrated of the lot!
7 gets a lot of crap for being overrated but I think its just the rabid fanboys that let it down more than anything. I for one feel that it deserves all the praise that it gets. For what it was doing with the technology and what it did for RPGs and the Playstation, it deserves a lot.
IX is still the best though.
But the way the characters look like…guh

Shadow the Hedgehog is the embodiement of everything I loathe about the progression of this series.See on the opposite side of the arguement, everyone seems to hate the Shadow game but I really enjoyed it.
I know loads of people were against the OMG GUNS & VEHICLES but you didnt really need to use them and otherwise it played really well. I consider it the third Sonic Adventure game. I didn't think that Sonic Heroes was anywhere near as bad as everyone claimed aswell. I was also quite surprised that the PS3/360 Unleashed game went down so badly. The daytime levels were absoloutely fantastic! Played just like the Rush games in 3D! The night levels werent great and were sometimes frustratingly long but I've definately played worse beat 'em up/platformers.
Honestly, I think the worst of the 3D Sonics (not including 2006 obviously) is probably the original Sonic Adventure. It's just aged really badly - unlike the second which actually held up quite well right up until the end of the last gen.
Back on topic however,
I'll vouch for Uncharted. I just dont get it. The writing and acting is top notch and the graphics are great. Ill admit that much, but the game play is just ridiculously monotonous and dull.
Cant stand the Assasins Creed games either.

^ This post is loaded with potential controversy.
…So are there any games you guys like, but most people hate/dislike? For me, it's Mario Sunshine, Shadow the Hedgehog, and the mostly obscure Streets of SimCity and SimCopter.
-
@Super-Franky:
^ This post is loaded with potential controversy.
Possibly but those are my opinions of the matters.
No one else has to agree but atleast I explained why I feel like I do fpr the most part about said topics
-
For the games that everyone hates but you like, I'd choose Super Mario Sunshine and Starfox Adventures
-
I was walking to my car at Walmart today and was walking behind a slow moving car that was looking for a place to park, I happen to look down and read his licences plate:
It was "FF VII". No, I'm not bullshitting …wow.
-
Oh look at that
You got UC2 AND Batman. Nice.
