EDIT: Sorry about that, dumb links…
Yet another chapter that feels longer than it actually is, in a good way!
And one of my hopeful things happened, yaye!
Good times.
[hide]Hasn't Satsuki been rooting for a FakudaxAoki match up for some time now? probably make her happy.
Also, it seems like this is news to Kato as well. I wonder if she at all suspected that Nakai felt that way about her?[/hide]
Oh Fukuda, you're so fucking awesome
Subjecting two assholes to the fury of your fist AND helping poor Aoki, while traveling on a Harley to do so
fukuda x aoki
My Favorite chapter in a while!!! Fukuda and Hiramaru combo breaker!! LOL
Holy shit, Fukuda is such a MAN.
I was indifferent to him before, but now… GO FOR IT, MAN!
Riding around on a Harley and punching bastards in the face, all to save a damsel in distress. It's like he's actually living out Kiyoshi Knight. :>
Mah Fukuda respect meter has shot through the roof.
That was badass.
Holy shit, Fukuda really stole the chapter this week. And after his character has been kinda underplayed for so long, it's so cool seeing him in the spotlight again. I mean, he had me at him riding a Harley, but him smashing Ishizawa's face into the bush was the icing on the cake.
I thought bakuman turned into a battle manga for a second.
this is why Fukuda and Hiramaru are my favorite authors in this series
still reading, but
HELLS YEAH!! FUCK EM' UP FUKUDA!!!
Punch that sorry sack of shit!!
(just needed to get that out)
ok, back to reading….
ok i'm back...
HAHA!! That's what I'm talking about!!!
When they mentioned Ishizawa I started feeling sick, like really sick... Aoki shouldn't be put through that crap!
... But Fukuda just stole the FUCKING CHAPTER!!
I'm on board for their pairing 100% now!! Cheers to whoever saw that one coming!
Seriously though... Shujin and Mashiro have their work cut out for them!
Screw Nakai too... bastard seems to be on the outs and I'm glad. I hope Kato rejects his sorry self.
and LOL at Fukuda holding Ishizawa's head in a rose bush through a whole conversation
See, from shojo, to battle shounen, next is sports manga, Masashiro will play Football (true football, the one in wich you kick the ball all the game around)
Hmm, well I'm not sure that a Fukuda/Aoki relationship is 100% yet (though they did joke about it this chapter). I mean, it would be cool if it happened, but I'm kind of indifferent about it right now (despite the fact that they're both awesome characters).
Yeah, jumping on the Fukuda bandwagon here. Manly man is manly.
But is anyone a bit weirded out by the gag-manga drawing style in the first half of the chapter? It feels strange. Still an awesome chapter regardless!
Well what can I say that hasn't been said: Fukuda absolutely owned this chapter.
Just a shame he didn't completely lay out Nakai who was just as clueless as ever here. He completely missed the point on why Fukuda was even mad at him (hell Fukuda even said he didn't care about his love life) and looked all the more pathetic as he gave out his reasons. Still am curious how this'll affect his "relationship" now. That'll be something to look forward too.
And lol on Ishizawa, I mentioned him last week and then he suddenly pops up in this chapter. Just as arrogant as he when we last saw him during the school days and if anything even worse then Nakai. Am surprised Takagi didn't deck him himself during his "suggestions" tagent. But hey made another great moment for Fukuda. And how sweet of Fukuda to train Aoki, he may be a loud mouth but you gotta admit the guy has heart.
So overall, great chapter. Now come the two week lure till the next one.
Just a shame he didn't completely lay out Nakai who was just as clueless as ever here. He completely missed the point on why Fukuda was even mad at him (hell Fukuda even said he didn't care about his love life)
Good to point that out!
He tried with Nakai… he didn't even have to state the obvious (his piggish behavior) as he simply couldn't care less. He tried to reason that he's lost sight of his work and in a way... their friendship as manga-ka.
It was really profound how he... just... realized Nakai as a lost cause at this point.
Even Fukuda seems to have his limits...
...which is really, REALLY sad on Nakai's behalf...
It says alot when someone like Fukuda just decides, "fuck this guy" and walks out.
Man… Ishizawa is a moron. He should have been beaten to a bloody pulp.
Fakuda? Fakuda is my dawg! Respect level is up the charts.
It's really hard for me to get over how much I like this chapter (I keep reading it over and over)
Highlights include:
-Aoki is just too cute now that she's fixed some of her superiority issues
-The simple and obvious internal comments of the editor of Eiji/Fukuda (Nakai's a jerk/Aoki's cool…lol yes indeedy)
-Listen to those guys for goodness sakes Miyoshi, they know what they're talking about, even the presumably exaggerated parts
-The contents of Ishizawa's room is enough of a red flag to realise that he just plain sucks
-Miyoshi the bodyguard. Seems fitting
-And so Fukuda sets off on his trusted metal steed, calling up Mashiro for directions to the midboss
-Ishizawa eating that cake just...creeped me the fuck out. Plus his presence just ruined a perfectly good naked Aoki panel. Go 69 yourself Ishizawa...as you usually do
-I just love Fukuda's face in response to Nakai's answer
-Interesting how Nakai's face, when punched, seems to mirror how it was when slapped by Aoki
-Kato's reaction implies she did not like him in the way he thought she did. So Nakai...you get NOTHING. Ha. Ha. HA!
-Hmm? Does Fukuda have a little soft spot for Aoki? Whether it's romantic or not, remains to be seen
-Ugh, piss off Ishizawa. Oh, here comes Fukuda to plant your ugly face in the bushes, water it and then grow a healthy, arrogant douchebag tree
-Hiramaru...everyone has you figured out by now. Besides, what does a mangaka who does a manga about an otter in a suit know about panty shots?
-And so the radical pair is born. One awesome thing about Fukuda is how he's always willing to lend a fellow mangaka a hand, even if he/she is a rival.
Right from his beginning, he helped Eiji make his manga better even at the risk of sabotaging his debut. He was the main organiser of the boycott and now he is teaching Aoki the art of panchira, one of the few things that is probably keeping his manga afloat at the moment.
His self-sacrificing nature makes him a top contender for my fav male character alongside Hiramaru
-Ugh, piss off Ishizawa. Oh, here comes Fukuda to plant your ugly face in the bushes, water it and then grow a healthy, arrogant douchebag tree
Sig worthy for this week.
Hm, looks like JC Staff is the animation studio. I'm not really familiar with them.
Oh man, everyone's ''Oh God no'' faces during the diner scene. I give my sympathies, that was pretty squirm-induucing. Thank goodness Fukuda planted that guy's head in the bush. Loved Hiramaru being late to the party and jumping the bandwagon like that. Yep, Fukuda was the MVP for this chapter, and since this arc's been drawn to a close, I'm looking forward to what's next in store for our manga-making crew.
JC Staff has done a lot of quality sutff, including Azumangah Diaoh and Nodame Contabile (which says to me their perfect for doing THIS slice of life series) and more actioney stuff like Slayers Revolution, the R.O.D. tv series, Utena, and Excel Saga. So they've been around for a while and have a bit of a pedigree. They should do juuust fine on this.
Oh. Right. This is the internet.

Lol, anyone read that little thing on the cover?
"Reality caught up with Masaru. New Anime of Bakuman" XD
@Thousand:

nope because it was in japanese.
Hm, looks like JC Staff is the animation studio. I'm not really familiar with them.
They're known as a good quality studio among the ones that watch anime with some watching just because JC Staff is animating it. So yeah, they should do a good job with Bakuman.
Well I believe this was proabably the most action packed chapter in the entire series, aside from the punch shujin gave earlier on in highschool.
Great chapter, everybody got what they deserved. >D
MY OTP IS ONE STEP CLOSER TO FRUITION!!!
ahem But yeah, I've been waving the FukudaxAoki flag ever since they butt heads as aspiring manga-ka, and it looks like I may be rewarded for my efforts!!!
But what a chapter, more Fukuda was just the shot in the arm this series needed. And any chapter that features the Fukuda and Hiramaru combo is going to be a chapter of win.
Like everyone said, Fukuda is a fucking MAN. Any girl would be glad to date him, rough-and-tumble as he is. I'm sure Aoki will grow as a writer with him on her side. And an ultra-honest guy like Fukuda is just the type to get her over her mistrust of guys. waves the flag
Ishizawa . . . . . . GAG. We knew he was a douche, but man Ohba went whole hog on just how much of a douche he is. Please let him stay away for at least another 50 chapters. Or preferably the rest of the series, thanks.
Anywho, this chapter totally made my day. My little shipper heart is dancing on rainbows.
I like this manga it shows how important hard work is but…I expect more lifestyle. I mean Takagi has some million yen in the bank, they can go to clubs, watch great events, buy fancy cars, have sex (they are 18 FOR GODSAKE)

A million yen is only about $10,000. It's a lot, but think of all the expenses they have (tuition, paying their assistants, transportation fees, stationary and other supplies). A wedding is extremely expensive, too.
New chap be out
-Fukuda…doesn't seem to have a sense of shame
-Hattori brings a new rival under his wing
-Things are underway for Satsuki's otp
The hell? Does it have to end on such a cliffhanger?:/
@Thousand:
The hell? Does it have to end on such a cliffhanger?:/
Going into the 3 week break? Yes.
Good chapter as usual. Excellent character stuff and things happening and lots of little stories moving, etc. Good as always, basically.
Great chapter. The Fukuda/Aoki interactions were great and I loved some of the expressions they pulled off for Aoki. But the line of the chapter goes to Fukuda for…
"Do you seriously get lost in thought while washing your ass?"
But does anyone else think it's a little odd that Hattori is so willing to take Aiko under his wing? I mean, she clearly has little to no experience with manga, has no drawing skill, and she openly admitted her doing it only because she sees Takagi as a rival. Doesn't it kinda seem like he's asking for trouble?
The whole can I use her line from Hattori made me think its to benefit Ashirogi somehow. A rival in writing could make Takagi make an amazing story or something.
I wonder if Fukuda's views on shonen jump represent the views of the author? Does shonen really use that system? If so, it's interesting how much criticism on jump is allowed to be made in a manga in jump.
And Ashirogi's author went back to annoying. He just gave up on Business Boy Kenichi. That seems like a dick move IMO.
The cliffhanger was really painful, especially considering its three weeks until finding out the results. I hope that new manga does not succeed though.
Nice chapter. I dont think that a gag manga suits them, seriously, I like Miuro but I think that they wont be able to compete against Eiji with this. Aiko is the hottest girl for me , I am glad she is in the plot now.

I'm hating this cliff-hanger BECAUSE of the three week break:/
Ahhhhh, my inner FukudaxAoki shipper is a happy happy girl. The highlight being Yujiro's line, "You don't act like you hate her!" Hee heeeee.
"Do you seriously get lost in thought while washing your ass?"

Well, he had a point. And I was impressed by his sense for, and this sounds like a complete oxymoron, high-brow panty shots. The way he was teaching Aoki it sounded like he was going for situations that weren't overly lewd. There's a gentleman somewhere in all that brashness. But did he really have to open the door while on the toilet?
I think it's weird. Well, I thought that after thinking, "Oh bitch you not be stealing Hattori now!!!" On the one hand I guess he IS an editor, and it's his job to scout new talent, but on the other hand, this bitch obviously doesn't give a shit about manga, she's doing this entirely because of Takagi. That's why I'm hoping it's for Ashirogi's sake that Hattori is bothering with her.
As for Miura, well, I don't know anymore. I think he's wrong to push them into gag manga, and for dropping his other series in his head so soon, but he obviously wants to see them succeed. Whatever that horrible cliffhanger is, I hope it's a wakeup call for him.
Just read the new chapter, and I'm a bit confused by the cliffhanger. Is it supposed to be suspenseful because of the lack of information? Seems like a cheap move, cause I don't see why there should be anything wrong with the gag manga. Aoki's maybe, but wasn't Miura working with them the whole tim?. What could have messed things up that he didn't notice before…or are they just shocked because of how good these names are? Well, we'll find out in three weeks!
Both manga probably got rejected. Aoki Ko for being too soon and Ashirogi because the editors believe that Ashirogi can do better than a gag manga and that they're not playing to their strengths with it which Miura can't seem to understand. At least that's my educated guess.
Calling this here and now. If I'm right in three weeks, I get gloating rights
Aoki's most likely got rejected. Especially since Fukuda just said he's getting tired of Kiyoshi just as he started working with Aoki.

This series has already used the exact same sort of cliffhanger a whole bunch of times. A big announcement is about to come down, the charactes have a shocked look on their faces because they can't understand what just happened and then…
Its not a new trick, and its not a cheap trick either. Its tough building in cliffhangers every 16 pages, and normally this would ust make us wonder "what's coming next week?" Its only because of the 3 week break that this one sort of sucks.

Well, if the art samples we've been shown are any indication, the comedy isn't anywhere near as well drawn as Trap was. (He simplified it for the sake of the story, but…) And well... they both keep saying they're not good at comedy, and the've been saying it time and time again. They might be able to get it to appear professional in a one shot, but their hearts just aren't in it, and it probably shows in the final product. (And also, Jump may not want an extra comedy on the slate.) And it might be all the higher ups agree that our heroe's strength lies in a different style of story.
On the other hand, being reminded again of the "I can kill any series I choose clause"... there may be a reason that was brought up again.
Yeah, Eiji may do Ashirogi a favor by axing their gag manga if it gets serialized. A kind of "tough love" scenario.

I'm finding myself agreeing with you Thousand, something which I'm sure predicts a complete global meltdown or the apocalypse.
Ashirogi can do much better than that though, like I dunno, something which utilizes all their strengths. mebbe like a real dark comedy

Seeme likely to me.

Nah, Eiji wanted that deal way before he heard of Ashirogi so no way he's gonna waste it on them.
He's gonna use it to axe Naruto
No seriously, he'll probably use it to axe his own manga so he can start something new.

Best Dark Comedy I ever read was Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. It even had mystery in it!!! MYSTERY!!! Totally our protagonists' style!
Until this next chapter comes out, I'd like to imagine that Aoki used what she learned to make the most hardcore shonen manga ever seen, that'll make Berserk look like a wussy. Yeah…
@Thousand:

Yes, but you remember what happened. The HAL arc came, dragged on and then turned Neuro became a battle type manga, but wasn't much of a bad thing. Mysteries then became the cool down arcs from the big bads. Ending was still great though.

I always look at the HAL arc as the equivalent to One Piece's Skypiea arc being an excessively long arc which was basically set up for bigger things in the future. Final arc of Neuro was still the best ever for me despite the lack of mysteries.
Bu this is going off-topic, the point is that if Ashirogi managed to create their ideal manga, I bet it would be just like Neuro.
@Thousand:

Yeah. I rather have them do what everyone says they're best at instead of doing Tanto.
@robbybedfart:
Its tough building in cliffhangers every 16 pages
This thing, comics having cliffhangers and climaxes very frequently and constantly (if this would be a novel it would have those every 2 or 3 pages -_-) is something I kind of both like and dislike at the same at.
A good story shouldn't need to be like that but in order to keep (young) readers interested a week after a week lotsa authors has to resort to it. But it does give these stories an unique flavour tho and it give us something to talk about .
