I want yammysaurus already.
The only good thing about this chapter was seeing hiyori get cut in half.

Agreed. Not that Kubo is good with characterizing his cast but Hiyori has always been by far the worst character of this series. I've never seen another character that fails so bad at being funny and entertaining like Hiyori does. She's just annoying beyond comparison.
"The customer is finished."
You gotta love Gin's casual way of speaking. In a series where everyone else is too formal to even call each other by their first names, it's nice to see a character who's polite but rude at the same time.
Kensei's Bankai is… well, by appearance it's all right. Hopefully it's not a generic fighting one (doubtful, considering his Shikai) and has some sort of Wind abilities in addition to augmenting Kensei's already ridiculous strength. Though Bleach progresses at a snail's pace, I've grown accustomed to it by now and am really looking forward to this, especially in the Anime.
Wasn't really necessary to use this as an excuse to need the main character, though. Let him wail on Yammysaurus and get pounded into toothpaste so that Unohana can heal him; does he really need to be around for Orihime to show up, too?
It's just Kubo's version if implementing the classic "when will you arrive Goku" component. But since Ichigo far away from being the strongest fighter (like Goku) Kubo wrote the plot like this that people are now in urgent need of Orihime. So it's not Ichigo himself who's needed but he's the one to deliver the one who's needed. Thus we get the "when will you arive Ichigo" component.
Other than that, to me it doesn't look as if Ichigo is on his way back. It looks more to me as if he's speeding down to help his friends against Yammy.
I get that, I just don't get why the heck someone who we know is a capable fighter like Shinji who basically is supposed to be the leader of this powerful group and one of the few who could handle Aizen in the past…is suddenly yelling out for the main character who is so uber just because he's the lead in a shonen. All I know is I just want this mess to be cleaned up so we can move on.
And to whomever asked: Kubo has mentioned a couple things in an interview recently but didn't say whether they're one and the same. One is another mini-arc talking of the past, the other is (finally) some stuff with Isshin.
i liked this chapter to be honest, my only problem was how the title appeared at the end of the chapter…..
I will give Kubo this: When he goes for it, he GOES FOR IT. That's twice now he's sliced somebody in half, and shown both parts.
This chapter was okay for me. The screaming for Ichigo part was a little "ehhhhh" but I think Kensei and Mashiro made up for it. Or maybe I'm just a helpless shipper.
The art was nice and dynamic too.
I hope Goku will make it back to Earth in time before the villains kill all his friends.
Other than that, the slicing made the chapter for me.
The Kensei and Mashiro interaction was the high point of this chapter for me.
Hiyori getting sliced in half threw me the fuck off guard.
But seeing Shinji lose his composure (yes i know how much she means to him) really just killed the buzz I was having from the Vaizard FINALLY showing up.
All that buildup just seems cheap.
Or the series has just been drawn out to a fault?
You guys don't need to answer that…
@Tokoro:
Is it just me or is Kensei's Bankai Ikkaku's with gauntlets instead of giant blades? Though…I really don't get the whole "why aren't you here Ichigo" bit...I just hope they get those idiots out of HM, get this stupid arc over with and then do that new mini-arc Kubo has planned, cause I am sick and tired of this nonsense.
Why is everyone confussed about this it's pretty simple he's not saying that meaning ichigo could win this fights he's more like…. hmmm how should i state this.... "why ain't u here with that orhime bitch" u know he just wants him to bring orhime so that she can heal everyone hence the flash back of orhime and her powers followed by him saying orhime

I mean makes sense since he was going 2 save her and she always fucking follows him
Let me apologize to all those correcting me. When I say "I don't get it" in regards to Ichigo, what I mean to say is "why is Kubo using such trite shonen cliches just to show how every character tied to the lead, including the lead itself, is worthless?"
To be fair, I think Shinji screaming for Ichigo is more connected to getting Orihime's ass over there. He knows Orihime probably can't get there without Ichigo, so he's screaming for Ichigo to hurry up and finish what he was doing, i.e: rescuing Orihime.
Hiyori cut in two. Nice.
The art was pretty good as usual but I was so disappointed at the Vizards. :/ C'mon. Gin is not even the main bad guy but they couldn't stop his attack or predict it or somethin'? Vizards are so much weaker than I thought. Why the heck were they all standing there like idiots? You can't get Aizen? Good. Then go for the other two bad Shinigami that are standing around you and are rather dangerous. Don't act like amateurs in battle by concentrating on just one enemy when you have more hanging around. :wassat:
Then again I am glad they did so. Hiyori is cut in two because of that. Nice.
Now…Where's Rangiku dammit?! I want my dramatic lover moment between her and Gin! >:(
ignores the dramatic lover moment between Shinji/Hiyori and Kensei/Mashiro
Anyone else thinks that Urahara will jump in sooner or later and stall for more time for Ichigo to show up with Orihime?
Isn't Ichigo supposed to be sealed in Hueco Mundo? Along with everyone else in there?
Isn't there supposed to be only Nine Bijuu?

Because it's also a classic Shonen concept to wait for the remaining cast to wait for the main protagonist to arrive. It's just that as always in Bleach Kubo executes it quite poorly.

That shonen concept allways bugged the shit out of me. Another thing that bugs me is when authors forget about an attack they make up for characters that's never used again (dragonball did this a few times)

At least that's one thing that Bleach is consistent about: Many of the characters have retained their original attacks throughout the series.
But hey, all series have attacks that are one time deals. When's the last time you saw Luffy using Ally Robo?

But Ally Robo was sort of a one-time gag attack. Luffy makes stuff on the fly so it's not like every attack he uses will be used again.
I'm sure that Luffy alone has more named attacks then the entire cast of Bleach together.

It was used in Enies Lobby:

Basically, Luffy wrapped himself around a marine and took control of him, using him to attack other marines.
I just can't get over this feeling that Yammysaurus and Segundo etapa Ulquiorra are going to be revealed as stronger than the Espada who went to FKT, and tbh I wouldn't be surprised if Ichigo is already stronger than the other Vaizards due to his HM fights and from transforming into Ichigonator. Ulquiorra just appeared as way more impressive in strength than 1-3, hell even Grimmjow as well.

all the ones in heuco mundo seemed stronger. hell they actually fought.
it seemed all the guys at karankura town did was release and then fart around dodging or sending a few of their attacks. Then while still all cocky they get killed. It was kind of like what happened to the epsade when the captains showed up to kick their asses in heuco mundo (and happened to be perfect opponents to beat that one)
yet it was missing the whole super tough fight before hand, so due to this they seemed weak.
but yea it seems with ulquiora having two releases he was indeed the strongest. though ichigo only won due to going hollow unconscious on him new form.
but as for aizen i'm confused. i thought it was said while watching anime that he put htem all under his swords hypnosis when he did some ritual for them. but now it seems like he is like itachi and just seeing his sword (finger) and they are under his illusions (gengutsu).
or was that a screw up by anime and there wasn't some ritual. Cause then thinking wouldn't ichigo be not fooled by these illusions, or the king of hueco mundo in flashback eitehr. or are these just all plot holes?

One major problem I find with Kubo using this concept: without his situational Super-Hollow mode, Ichigo is above average in terms of speed (seriously, how many people have been faster than him since he got his Bankai?), and could only do any damage to Grimmjow, the #6 Espada (possibly Nnoitora as well, if he hadn't been injured), so he is much weaker than the people present at Karakura. Aside from bringing Orihime to the battlefield, what good would his presence be?

well thats one of those huge inconsistence's. speed. and a problem with most all manga.
i mean it was made clear that the cat lady is the fastest followed by byakuya. or he is fastest captain. And then ichigo in his bankai is made to just increase his speed mainly, and he just owns byakuya in speed.
yet then like all new enemies own ichigo in speed, yet the other captains again are fast enough have no problem with speed.
I don't know if there will ever be an answer to "who was really the Strongest Espada". While Segundo Etapa Ulquiorra and Yammisaurus are contenders, remember that FKT is not HM, therefore 1-3 lost a massive amount of energy and seem weaker. If Aizen forced SS to come to them instead of the other way around, who knows…maybe a few Shinigami would be dead by now. But considering shonen logic, then my guess is Segundo Etapa Ulquiorra and Yammisaurus are the strongest due to fighting the leads.

Off the top of my head, I can come up with 16 main attacks, but adding in Gear 2 and Gear 3 variants would push that up over forty as things like Snare, Chomp and Robo Ally probably won't have variations. Well, Snare might.
Pistol (Jet, Gigant)
Shotgun
Gatling (Jet)
Hammer
Storm
Rifle (Gigant)
Bazooka
Bowgun
Volcano
Robo Ally
Pinwheel
Whip
Spear
Snare
Chomp
Stomp
Axe
Rocket and Idiot are two others, but they're not attacks exactly.
Theres also
sickle (vs Buggy)
scythe (vs Krieg pirates)
Bullet
Bell
flower arrangement
Buzzsaw (vs Crocodile)
Storm
Fireworks and octopus fireworks
Hook
Flail
Cannon
Gigant jet shell
Rain
As well as defensive ones like shield and baloon, gear 3rd variations of Whip, Bazooka and baloon, Jet Whip, stamp, rifle and Twin Pistol. And I would consider rocket an attack; he used it offensively against orry, and a jet version against
Moria. Luffy has a pretty damn sweet repetorie, not even counting water/wax/gold ball moves; including all variants of his non-situational based moves, Luffy has a grand total of:
44 named moves. Propably more, that we have forgotten. So yeah, more named attacks than the entirity of Bleach seems about right.
On topic;
Considering this latest chapter, while I know Hiyori has always been an angry little whelp, I can't help but feel that Aizens entire "provocation" was extraordinarily tame.
Aizen: No matter what, I will win.
Shinji: Don't let him get to you, he's trying to toy with our emotions!
Aizen: ha ha, metaphorically you all died 100 years ago
Hiyori: DIIIEEEE
It might be just me, but I don't get what's so particularly mind snappingly evil about that. I mean, technically EVERYONE is already dead.
You all forgot GomuGomu no Boh! (or GumGum Airhead, if you will)

Aizen is nothing more than a school yard bully that's it. Now for true evil we can all read JJBA and look up to the true master of evil: Dio Brando or even better have the whole world fall into a false sense of peace just like what Griffith is currently doing in Berserk.
This is propably old news, but I just stumbled across this, and thought I'd share:
SJ: Will you ever do an Aizen backstory?
Kubo-sensei: Will I…? To be honest, I think part of Aizen's appeal is that he's mysterious. It probably wouldn't be good for his character if I revealed everything about him. If I felt the urge to tell, maybe I would, but I'm just not sure right now.
Ahahaha. Kubo Tite: Taking trolling to entirely new levels.
Odly enough I agree with Kubo on that one. If he revealed every little detail on aizen let's face it. Aizen would be more boring than he is now.
This is random : I was "spying" around on Bleach Asylum in a thread called; kubo tite interviews. Well apparently he mentioned that those two bodies that are seen once mayuri opens the doors to syzaels lab will play a very important role or something like that.

I thought their appearance matched Cirucci and the other guy that the Exequias took out after they were defeated.

I don't think we're talking a TBTP lenght Aizen-focused extravaganza here; to me it sounds like the best we can hope for for Bleach's ending is for Ichigo to look at Aizens defeated body and say "I wonder why he did all this? Alas, we shall never now. How mysterious that man was." If we're really lucky we might get some Starrk flashback lenght snippets of informaton that Kubo just makes up on the spot if he "feels like it". (I HAD A KITTEN AND ITS NAME WAS FLUFFY. IT DIED)

Then there would probably be a figure in the background go "Did you think your war ended with him?"
And then they go to another planet.
I don't think Aizen has a background…i think his story is just "Im a dick" and we're left in mystery as to how someone could possibly become such a powerful asshat...

…to look at Aizens defeated body and say "I wonder why he did all this?..."
Reasonable question seeing how the calculated ruthlessness in the quest for power that usually gives the villain some kind of initial advantage over the good guys didn't actually gain Aizen anything or did it?
Instead of wasting time on a convoluted plan built around dubious experiments and elaborate deception-maneuvers he could've simply joined Urahara in his work on the Hōgyoku and revealed his superior skills and power to the 13 squads. This would've earned him a promotion to the royal guard at which point he could've either proven himself as a worthy successor to the king or still build up an army to take the throne. Way more efficient and probably decades faster than what he ended up doing in the manga.
Or even better, he could've just used the Hōgyoku-grabbing technique he used on Rukia the instant she entered soul society, have his Genjutsu skillz ensure that no one new what had transpired, and then stage his death and take off with Gin and Tosen. Same result really, only SS is extremely confused and oblivious to the true nature of things. He could even just walk around killing people one by one 'till he got bored.
Hell, he could just have grabbed the Hōgyoku at any point in the human world.
There is a spoiler:
! Yammi has captured Rukia.
! Chad and Renji are already down on their knees.
! Yammi and Rukia have an exchange and he's about to pound her into the ground,
! when Ichigo saves her and says he's going to hurry up and finish this trivial battle.
! Rukia says something like: "That guy's rank…isn't the same as the rank of the guy you defeated."
! The 3 go off and watch the fight from a distance. It doesn't appear they will be involved.
! Ichigo says he's going to quickly defeat him and then go to the real world.
! He dons his mask and the chapter ends.
! You can only see a bit at the end, but it looks like Ichigo's mask has a horn. Maybe the one from before?
! Personal Thought: Well I guess Kubo just wants to throw away Yammi now like he did the rest of the Espada. He really has no further use though with the others gone.

wtf. the three go off and watch? what's their purpose in this manga? to serve as bystanders?
i'm so disappointed. i expected something out of Rukia, Chad and Renji, but Kubo made them espada fodder.
once again Ichigo saves the day. lame.
Rukia's purpose is to be in the anime so she can sound like a man.
Rukia's purpose is to be in the anime so she can sound like a man.
lol nice.
on another note, no mention of Orihime…?
So Rukia plays the damsel in distress, poor losers get their asses kicked once again..nothing new in the West. Or East.
Ichigo's just too damn egoistic, just because he defeated Ulquiorra after Ulquiorra pwned the crap outta him, and he got lucky (bleach-style super saiyan). Orihime in my opinion is fail. She single-handedly destroys the story. Someone dies- Orihime saves… O.o
! So basically here's the whole evolution of Ichigo's merry band in this so-called arc:
! -Rukia: Revealed all her abilities, defeated a Gillian-level Espada with a glass head
-Chad: Beat a Privaron Espada…and that's it.
-Ishida: Beat a Privaron Espada, but was thrown up against the most haxxed Espada who, BTW, is merely 8th powerful, did his best but ultimately lost due to hax.
-Renji: Faced hax Espada first and did worse, only merely the brawn that...did nothing against it.
! Yet watch all of them join Ichigo (again) in the next arc, be even more powerful than before...but still useless.
wait i thought there was no shouen jump this week
