I don't get why "It's a Beam" was disappointing. I liked it, they got everything there "It's a Beam!" Sanji fighting him on it…
What was wrong do you guys think? The Delivery?
Yeah.Kinda.
EK-2cj2pFgY
JP Luffy: SHUT UP! Its beam! BEAM! BEAM! BEAM! It just has to BE A BEAM!(fast and bratty)
But funi felt the need to add less redundant(but less funny) dialogue.
hb_GvI8VXwQ
Funi Luffy:A-ah its a beam, he's gonna shoot a beam. Shut your trap! Its a beam! I just know!(Much slower and less bratty)
But if it makes you feel better I liked the Scope scene.
And I dont drop good dubs just because they flunked ONE SCENE.
Yeah, it doesn't matter. Depite FUNI's dub being godly, it's not perfect. But I do prefer some scenes handled in FUNIpiece rather than Japanpiece.
In Funi's dub, Vale did a good job when he said "What kind of beam?". A lot of emphasis on the B. Makes me smile everytime.
Yeah, Vale was fine, but Colleen's deliver wasn't fast enough or recalcitrant enough. The script changes didn't help either.
Not a big deal, but just disappointing since the original is one of the best moments in the one piece cartoon(it was just a throwaway gag in the manga, but the animated version strung it out and made it funnier still).
The old lady does not comment on how immature the idea of a beam sounds? :/
Anyways, it does not sound that bad to me. It's just a beam.
I don't remember Dr. Kureha ever speaking up during that scene.
I must only remember the manga then.
I just now got around to watching my DVD, even though I've had it for around 2 weeks. I started watching disc one, but about halfway through it started skipping horribly. I tried to skip past whatever skipped, and it was fine for the rest of the episode, but started to skip again during the opening of the next episode. Is there anything I can do like order a replacement, or something?
Take it back to the shop you bought it from/email the website you bought it from and ask for a replacement.
If it's only been 2 weeks, you should be ok, but do it right away.
Worse case you may be able to do something direct with Funi.
I've had to get replacements direct from bandai countless times(and it takes forever since I live in england), I imagine funi have somehing similar set up..
Yeah, RightStuf does take stuff back and exchange it. Did it myself with this recent volume.
Thank you for the email,
I have released the one item in stock to ship out for the ship fee of $11.00 per your request.
Have a nice day!
Alvaro
All is right in the world again.
Rightstuff has been good to me at least. Very good costumer service if you ask me. (Aside from the anal rape on my bank account when 6 items all with different release weeks all shipping at once. xD)
It seems in the new Right Stuf catlog for Fall 09 they say S2V5 comes out January 19th 2009.

If that is correct I will be one happy camper!
Can you take a Scan or a Photo from the catalog?
It's not that I don't believe you, but a citeable source would be nice.

I better head to best buy then; how did nobody know it came out almost 10 months ago?! We must be slacking off…
lol, jk. I know what you meant to put :P

I wonder why season 1 fourth voyage isn't listed.
I'm not sure if anyone's noticed this but Amazon has it's own One Piece section.
S2P4 is said to be only 12 episodes, right? The listing still puts it at 320 minutes, though…
...hmmm...

They did the same for S2P2.
Funi definitely seems to be pumping out the One Piece releases.

At Anime Boston - specifically in regards to Geneon acquisitions but the philosophy may extend to One Piece - there was a certain sense of "urgency" with getting them out because fans had been waiting so long. One Piece fans have already waited a long time so this could be part of a similar "urgency" issue.
Also it was stated somewhere that Season 4 won't start dubbing until Season 3 is on DVD so they may be rushing the rest of Season 2 out so they can start on it. If they haven't already.

Well, that wouldn't be too surprising. Funi knows that they've only been dubbing what 4Kids has already done, so they've wanted to give us a good version of what we've already seen. And despite that we've already seen it via Battle Franky's help, America has still only seen half of Skypeia. Funi wants to pump these out so they can start on the untouched material, but the releases will likely slow down at that point.
The dvd is up at right stuf now

BEST. NEWS. EVER.
I'll preorder my copy tomorrow.
The best part about this is that my Birth Day is in January WOOT!!!
Now all we need is the volume's cover art…
@Zach:
Now all we need is the volume's cover art…
Yeah but at least we know they are doing once a month again. They probably just took a small break for the holidays, hence the gap in releases until fourth voyage.
Going back to college that month will be quite hectic. I'm glad I'll have something to look forward to in between all the stress.
Any predictions on the Box Art? Since it's going up until the Nami Fight if I'm not mistaken, I'd like to see characters facing off/fighting symmetrically on both sides of the cover, something like
Crocodile –- Luffy
. . . . . [TITLE]
. . . Mr.1 –- Zoro
Bon Clay ----- Sanji
Also, and this is pretty trivial, but I do believe 4th Voyage contains the first time Sanji says "Mellorine", just in case anyone was curious.
Well, that wouldn't be too surprising. Funi knows that they've only been dubbing what 4Kids has already done, so they've wanted to give us a good version of what we've already seen. Right, but I think they also know we are at X and Japan is at Y.
Currently the average released is about one every two months - Season 2 Fifth Voyage may have been planned for January before Fourth Voyage was pushed back to December. So let's say we're getting something like:
March 2010: S2V6
May 2010: s2V7
July 2010: s3v1*
According to a report from Dragon Warrior (I think it was him) this is around the time they would plan to start dubbing Season 4 (when they start releasing season three). At this point let's push them out to once every three months instead:
October 2010: S3v2
January 2011: S3v3
April 2011: s3v4
That complete Skypiea. This also means they have - in theory - been working on Season 4 for a while, so we would easily see Season Four, Voyage One around July of 2011. If they do a slower pace.
But once, again, even if it WAS mostly 4Kids, America has seen most of the stuff through the first half of Skypiea. We could see some quicker releases:
January 2010: s2v5
March 2010: s2v6
April 2010: s2v7
This is using a six week approximation. January 19 is right around the middle of the month, so the March release I'm predicting would be like, the first tuesday in March, and the April release would be mid to late April.
So this means Season 4 dubbing will likely begin between April of 2010 and July of 2010. However, this doesn't mean that, whatever Funimation got when it got Season 4 stuff doesn't include movies or something, so it's possible they are working on dubbing movies or something we don't know about. That would keep the pace of the releases up, and since the movies are shorter than the box sets they're be quicker to get out. The movies could even be used to make the wait between box sets seem shorter. Sure, maybe we'll have three to four month waits starting in season 4, but we might get the movies (and at a stretch? TV specials) in between. Fans keep asking for them and since Funimation is generally proving they don't have a tank full of manatees making all of their decisions they've probably taken note of this, so I think movies are a good possibility for the next batch of stuff they get from Toei.
I don't like that idea 1 every 3 months :(
S2V3 has been SHIPPED (finally…)
I'm hoping Mr. Prince makes an appearance on the cover.
@LUFFY#1:

Eventually it will have to slow down. Since it sounds like Season 4 dubbing won't start until Season 3 hits the streets (provided that Sabat really did eat "bad sushi") they won't have as many episodes in the can. Keep in mind Funimation has a ton of other shows and for all we know they are working on One Piece movies - it's something fans keep asking for and since Funimation isn't stupid I would be surprised if it isn't at least being considered.
Conclusion? IT'S POSSIBLE that while Season 4 isn't being recorded, movies 1-7 and 9 ARE being recorded, and that would keep up a steady release schedule - it just wouldn't be the TV series.
I don't think they will slow down the box sets that much. I think they'll sitck to the one every two months like they originally planned. Then again, it isn't safe to say anything because Funi in unpredictable when it comes to One Piece. I remember when people thought there was going to be a monthly release when two of them were released right after each other.

They kinda have to slow down on the dvd release a little bit sooner or later. Since on the Japanesse release of the series on dvd, just started Thriller Bark (the first dvd of the arc comes out this week or next week.) And Funi so far are using the dvd masters of the episodes. So who knows what will happen.
I wouldn't mind if the releases slowed down if Funi gave us other stuff like movies, specials… games?! etc
They've got nothing to do with the games and they'll probably get out as many episodes as possible (i.e. even up with the Japanese version) if possible.
@Yuugi's:

That's right - Okratron is responsible for the game dubs - it just so happens Sabat runs the company so Funimation VAs are easily accessible. Namco Bandai are the people you need to talk to if you want more One Piece games.
What I meant was, I wouldn't mind if the dub slowed down if it meant they were working on movies, specials, or games. I know funi doesn't have control over the games, just that I wouldn't mind a DVD delay if it meant the cast was working on Unlimited Cruise.

Oh neither would I, but I honestly don't think there's a lot of dubbing that needs to be done for that game. Granted, a lot of other things need to happen, like translating and scripting and such.
I think we'll see a steady release schedule till the end of Skypiea and possibly through Water 7/Enies Lobby. We're still talking years before they even come close to catching up.
So I just got the magzine thing from RightStuf with confirmation that Fifth Voyage is coming in January. :) Other than that, there was nothing else interesting, but the early One Piece manga volumes are only five-something, although I think they've always been that way :\

You are kinda late with the news lol, we discussed that a couple days ago.
I know that, but I just wanted to try and get a discussion going :(

It's because the early volumes have an MSRP of 7.95, and RightStuf sells most of it's items for less than the MSRP - it's usually collectibles that you have to pay full price for (like figures or signed things) unless you use coupons or membership discounts. The reason the newer volumes are more expensive is because VIZ changed the MSRP price on Shonen Jump volumes recently, which is kind of annoying but understandable.
