New chapter on MH.
-
! Seems that the bald holy mage will fight Brain. No Gerard and Erza.
-
Chapter 151 is out. Another awesome one, following last week's also great chapter. This arc really seems to be redeeming itself in the final stages.
- Brain really stole the show in this chapter. Up until now, Brain hasn't really seemed like too much of a villainous big bad, and that seems to have been Mashima's intent. Right up until Cobra read his mind, and his personality shifted, Brain still seemed like a pretty nice guy, aside from leading a dark guild. Now we see him for his true, generic-villain self.
- Granted, I like this new side of Brain, as generic "lolnakama" as he may be, I am a little saddened. I love villains who are genuinely nice guys who actually care about their companions. Still, he didn't feel menacing up until now, so I guess the personality shift was needed.
- Or perhaps Brain himself is beginning to succumb to the power of Nirvana? Please, let this be the case.

- My goodness! Hoteye actually defeated Midnight! That's probably the best plot twist Mashima has ever included in Fairy Tail. Not only did he win, but he did it with apparent ease as well!
- Again, Hoteye's fight is almost entirely off-screen, and we haven't seen what Midnight can do. I really doubt this is the final match for either of them. Brain hasn't pronounced Midnight's defeat yet, so that's a pretty good indicator.
- Looking back, it was never very impressive when we saw Jura and Hoteye skirmishing earlier. I don't know whether I was downplaying Hoteye in my mind, or I was downplaying Jura, but I underestimated both of them. Battling a Wizard Saint to a standstill is definitely not a sign of weakness.
- Brain decides to welcome Natsu into his cliq. Cool. I hope he succeeds. Natsu versus Gray, Lucy, or Erza would all be incredibly entertaining fights that I'd really like to see.
- Jura kicks ass. 'nuff said. He's in the same tier as Makarov, Gerard and Jose. As of this chapter, the Pacifista, Jura and Brain are all much cooler characters that didn't really stand out before.
- I'm thinking Cat Shelter is going to be destroyed in this arc, and the Cats are going to have to come on over to Fairy Tail.
- I really hate the term, Light Guild. Dark Guild may be incredibly cliched as is, but using the term Light Guild to describe all of the legal guilds makes the term Dark Guild seem that much worse. It tries to create a firm line of "Dark=Bad, Light=Good." You know who was a Light Guild? Phantom Lord. Ughh.
EDIT: Wall of text. tl;dr version: Jura, Hoteye and Brain are cool dudes.

Midnight will be back, there's no way he's going to be defeated off panel without a display of his powers after he was hyped up like he was.
-
Yeah, I really felt sorry for Cobra there. His wish was really simple, too…
Also, Hoteye and Jura were surprisingly awesome. Way to go.
Yay for great chapters. Here's hoping that Mashima can keep this pace up.
-
Yeah, I did feel a little bad for Cobra. He's a lonely guy who just wanted to be able to talk to his snake. Still, it's not like that justifies his douchery, and his jealousy of legit Dragon Slayers.
-
Cobra was the koolest dude ever!!!!
(fav dragon slayer skill)
but the wy Natsu defeted him was sick to -
Racer - Weak.
Angel - Who knows, Scorpio could have been a god, but she was weak.
Hoteye - Switched sides but was weak, damn mud power.
Cobra - Seems like the strongest out of them all, decent.
Midnight - Complaining about father not loving it and whatever, no real powers, just overhyped.
Brain - He's been owned like twice now, first Gerard now potatoe head.
Oracion Seis dissapointed as a whole, wouldh've been better if Mashima brought back that shinigami guy, and jose, with cobra and urtear as the oracon cuatro.

agree who was racer???
i thnk the enimies in one piece always gve Luffy and his crew a much harder time
(i comepare sometimes cause they similar) -
Most. Rushed. Chapter. Ever.
-

(i comepare sometimes cause they similar)well its not fair to compare the two in the fighting. one piece has long fights while fairy tail has like 1 chapter, two at most length. of course the fights will seem easy since they are so short.

It took Gray, and Lyon- the antagonist of Galuna Island- to defeat Racer. His speed ability was pretty hax, and he could summon motorcycles. If you consider that weak, alright, but I'd argue otherwise.
Angel can use Gemini to make a complete clone of her enemies, with all their memories and abilities fully in tact. That enough puts her on even ground with any foe. Add in the fact she can actually summon a second spirit. That's an automatic +1 against any single opponent. Definitely not weak.
Hoteye defeated Midnight on his own, and fought Jura, a Wizard Saint evenly. Heck, this chapter just showcased how not weak he is. Where do you get this from?
We haven't seen Midnight do anything on screen, but he beat down most of the Blue Pegasus piece of the alliance on his own. The rest of the Oracion Seis were terrified of waking this guy up. The only thing to suggest he might be weak is his loss to Hoteye, but losing to Hoteye is not saying much when he fought evenly with a Wizard Saint.
Brain… is the leader. I guess he really hasn't done too much except get behind the wheel of Nirvana and pronounce the defeats. Still, he's the leader, and we haven't seen what he's capable of.
Oracion Seis might not be ungodly powerful, but they're not supposed to be Fairy Tail's Shichibukai. They're just another guild, that happens to be free of fodder. I have not been disappointed at all, excluding Racer.

good pt i gues short is nice but… ty
-
A so so chapter
I'm starting to dislike Mashima story for not focusing at least a small amount of time showing battles of other characters besides Natsu, Lucy and Gray
Still hope Midnight will show some power
And yes Jura is strong after whole he is one of the 10 Great Holy Mages, but not as strong as Makarov (at least that's what he said)
-
I admit, I felt a little twinge of sympathy for Cobra there. Poor guy just wanted to talk with his "best friend", his snake. Kinda sad.
I am liking how Mashima keeps switching things up on us in this arc. It keeps readers on their toes, never knowing WHAT is going to happen.
The downside is that Oracion Seis comes off as over-hyped. I've yet to see a battle I consider truly earth-shattering. I'm guessing OS is the weakest of the three great dark guilds, but still.
-
the fct that all he wnts is to talk to a cobra is a litle crepy but cuteish???

Actually they are supposed to be Fairy Tail shichbukai, atleast I saw it that way. Each of them alone having the power to take out an entire guild, one third of the head of the underworld, I mean they were really hyped up, I mean come on.

If any group in Fairy Tail were supposed to be an equivilent to the Shichibukai, it'd be either the members of the magic council or the Ten Wizard Saint/Holy Mages. Introduced slowly, one by one, throughout the length of the story. The Oracion Seis were introduced as a single guild, and revealed all at once. Yeah, they're pretty high tier in the dark guild hierarchy, but they're just a single guild that doesn't let fodder directly into its ranks for the sake of a little word play.
And soloing a guild isn't that tough these days. Lucy did it right before this arc started, Erza did it back in the Lullaby arc, and Natsu and Gray did it just recently. Now, soloing a guild like Fairy Tail, on the other hand… I think it was pretty clear that Oracion Seis was a threat, but not a massive threat when the three guilds of the alliance were satisfied sending only a select troop of their members to deal with them. If they were really that big of a deal, Makarov would have brought in the entire guild, pulled Gajeel and Juvia from their other missions to help, or actually joined to the Alliance Forces himself.
-
Very nice chapter, I for one had faith in richard a.k.a hot eye but I feel that the midnight he's fighting is actually one of the blue pegasus boys disguised in a type of magic.
Brain become a bad ass this chapter, he is by far the crocodile of fairy tail in my opinion. I did however feel sorry for cobra. -

Actually, your right, they were massivley overhyped. I always wondered why no Guild masters accompanied their forces if Oracion Seis was so dangerous, but seems they aren't at all. Hell, Phantom Lord was more dangerous.
Oh and Blain is not Fairy Tail Croc. Blaine has his ancient weapon and is going to lose, if Croc got pluton OP would have ended early, simple as that. Blaine is more like Spandam, useless leader.
-
the Shichibukai culd kck the orcianin (bad speller) asses

can't call him a useless leader yet we still have yet to see what brain's power really is.

can we say he's weakish or the guy who pwned him is stng?
-

I feel like a broken record tonight. >>> Jura shares a rank with Makarov, Jose and Gerard. He's not a pushover, he's pretty much the most bitchin' dude in the entire alliance force. Getting pounded by two of the strongest characters introduced so far in the canon does not make Brain weak.
-
Jura scared the crap out of Blaine.
-
Midnight is faking. It's so damned predictable.
-
Cobra for Nakama…and Gerard of course.
-
richard for nakama fuck cobra too bland for a character
-
Richard is that gay Kuma rip off, right?
-
What would happen with richard once the nirvana is dispelled? :(
-
When Cobra showed up everyone was saying "who is this lame dude with a snake that defeated Erza!!!" now you're worshipping him? Jeez..
This chapter was ok, it gets better if Brain succeeds in making Natsu evil (much better), if not I think that Midnight's defeat was probably the best part of this entire arc. Overhyped emo slut gets defeated easily in seconds by someone people were like "oh he looks weak, who cares if he's on our side."
Okama tempo, never forget! Vo -
richard won`t win that easily…nightmare still has a trick
-
Midnight's attack is pain transfer. You heard it here first.
-
Midnight's attack is pain transfer. You heard it here first.
…on FOX news. runs for dear life
-
In all seriousness, we haven't heard what Midnight's dream was, and usually, once we hear that, they have been beaten for good. She's still got a few tricks up her sleeve.
-

Actually her dream was to be loved by Daddy, so it's over for her.
-
Wait Midnight became a girl, when because I don't remember Midnight making any reference to his/her sex?
Just wait and see Brain wipe the floor with Jura and them Richard and in the end Natsu or Gray will come to rescue that is unless Midnight reappears and becomes the ultimate enemy of this arc after seeing Brain defeated
-
Somehow this arc lacks of suspense and excitment, there are few intresting charecters (none of them are villains), and Oracion Seis has been hyped to like hell and then brought down to mere fodder to our heros.
It was going to be bit exciting when Gerard was revived and he was meaning business with badass attidute but it was killed when Nirvana twisted his mind and he become total wuss.
Brain just thinks himself bit too high, he is really not that impressive.
-
I have to admit that the fights in this arc were good…
Leon - Gray vs Racer 10/10
Lucy - Hibiki vs Angel 8/10
Natsu vs Cobra 8/10...however as Shandian said this arc lacks suspense and excitement.
-
Lol. Racer getting a 10? That fight was lame.
-
Midnight's dream comes true every time s/he sleeps.
-
Lol. Racer getting a 10? That fight was lame.
Right 10 is too much but I think it gets a 9, the motorbike race and the stripping was cool, Leon"s plan was quite good.
-
entertainment wise Leon and gray vs. Racer is by far the best fight.
-
Hot Eye is the best in oracion seis. He's funny like hell and the most powerful out of them. I hope he joins Fairy Tail after this arc finishes
-
Hoteye would fit in well with the Fairy Tail guild actually. He's like the voice of joyfulness.
-
I rate the fights
Whole group vs whole group 9/10: A little short but it did set up the arc rather nicely and gave a preview to the Seis's powers. (Most of which were ruined later in solo fights, see below)
Racer 5/10: Overhyped, dues ex machina and a plothole. Not to mention his random bombs. Gray and Leon team up was the best thing about the fight. And the tires.
Angel 7/10: It was okay. Wish we could have seen more from Angel's stellar spirits. That last attack was badass. Magical internet ftw. At least Lucy gained a lot from the fight.
Natsu vs Cobra 8/10: Made me like Cobra a whole lot more. He also had intresting uses for his dragon slayer magic. Ending was great and the best thing about it was that he wasn't OHKO'ed by the roar. Too bad there isn't a whole lot you can do that's intresting with poison abilities. Unless you're Oda.
-
My big complaint about the Lucy v Angel fight was that I DON'T KNOW HOW LUCY GOT STRONGER. She hasn't really…even ALLUDED to doing anything to increase her power since Fairy Tail started, so unless she's been uber-strong from the beginning and just had no confidence in her abilities...and if that's the case, there's been a lot better times for her to have used those abilities before >_>
I hate Lucy.
-
The problem with Lucy's magic is that it is (to use a gamer term) Gear Dependent. Her level of command over the spirits (Save Aquarius, but that's another story) is fine, but if she doesn't have the summon's key, she can't summon it. Once she has the key and knows what that particular summon can do, she's actually a fairly competent mage. The only way she can really get stronger is by discovering the abilities of her spirits and obtaining more. She can't really train her abilities in the sense the others can.

She been getting stronger since the start. In the island arc it was shown that she was able to force the summon away. In loki arc she was able summon her full ring (though it knocked her out) Then she got leo who is just plain strong. In the tower she was able to summon despite getting a beating. And finally it was the strength of her compassion and help from the blue peg guy that she won.
Of all of fairy tail she the one shown getting stronger as the manga goes.
