He has swords as legs?!
What's that all about?! -
How the heck does he manage to keep himself balanced on those things anyway? I guess he must spend most of his time flying around then.
…y'know, all of these wacky animals are reminding me of Movie 3. Heck, Shiki's general build is similar to Butler's, and they both have two henchmen...
-
Except that movie 3 had the most boring monster designs I ever seen.
-
True, though Butler turning into an Oozaru was kinda funny, I thought.

@Elektrik:

He wasn't yelling at him, actually he was being rather nice.

When I showed the trailer to my sister, and upon seeing Shiki, her reaction was "Ugh…Another Urouge?!".
Normally he doesn't look like him at all…just this pic. lol -
Heh, the resemblence is striking…. Wouldn't be surprised if Oda came up with those designs at roughly the same time.
Though of course, Urouge doesn't have the awesomeness of sword feet.
-
lol, yeah…Urouge is from a sky island, so there might be a relation.
Weird though, while checking all the shots for Shiki, I've noticed he looks totally different from each shot. This is maybe old news, but the director of this movie is Munehisa SAKAI. Digging some info about him, he co-directed episodes 280-283 only.
-
I noticed Luffy is wearing the goggles outfit when yelling "Shiki!" and he's wearing the collar shirt when Shiki does the Rankyaku Ran with his sword legs…so I guess there will be at least 2 fights?
-
Hm, yeah I've been trying to piece together a good timeline for this movie based on the trailer. So far I've got something like this:
- Prologue where Garp gives some exposition on Shiki and the destruction of those Marine ships is shown.
- Straw Hats encounter Strong World, explore it for a while (Luffy gets chased by the octopus and pwned by the bear), encounter Shiki, Indigo, and Scarlet. Shiki kidnaps Nami and I guess manages to talk her into stay, hence the scene with the Dial in Oda's poster.
- Straw Hats find Shiki, attack him to no effect (Scenes of Luffy and Zoro attacking him)
- Break into Shiki's base on Strong World to get Nami back, beat his underlings.
- Everything's cool, until Shiki shows up again and steals her back (only way for her wardrobe change to make sense), leading into the final battle in midair with the driving rain/sleet shown in the trailer.
'Course, half of that is probably wrong, and I have no idea how Indigo, Scarlet, and Billy the bird fit into all of this, or what the finer plot points are (like why is Shiki doing what he's doing), but that's what I think the basic outline will be.
-
Why would a legendary pirate shows all of a sudden and kidnap Nami?…Sounds like Bleach to me.
It must be something else. A reason that makes him take her.
-
Well, he does, we just don't know why. If you look closely, he's got her in an arm-lock right before it shows the battleships falling from the sky, and later you can see his arm more clearly when she yells out Luffy's name.
-
What I'm trying to say is, there must be a reason for taking her…Like if he is interested in her skills, holds a valuable secret, or just wants to piss Luffy.
So what I really meant is, he won't show up to kidnap her right away. There must be a trigger...
-
Well, according to the first teaser that was at the end of Movie 9, apparently he's after something called the Crystal Ship, though after seeing this new trailer, the Crystal Ship might actually be referring to Strong World (since it's all glittery), and he might be after something completely different. That bird probably ties in somehow, seeign the importance it was given in the trailer.
Or maybe he's just doing everything for the lulz and is just screwing with Luffy, as Shiki knows his tropes and has coaught on to how love interests are often red-headed in fiction, who knows?
-
Oh wow, had no idea that I would be in Japan for this. I'm going to stroke myself in the theater.
-
Well, something really strange : when i remember the first teaser, we see someone in the shadow with a white costume with some kind of "Tribal drawing" on it, smoking a cigar and having a nice Katana on his side… At this time, i was thinking this guy was Shiki but by now, i clearly don't know who's this guy !
-
This trailer is awesome!
I really can't wait for seeing this film.Awesome monsters and character design you can really see that Oda works on that.

The first teaser was probably based on an early concept…for instance, Nami left behind a letter instead of a Dial, the Strawhats were wearing different outfits, etc.
Heck, maybe even the new trailer has scenes that won't be in the movie. -

Heck, maybe even the new trailer has scenes that won't be in the movie.Seriously doubt it. The original trailer that came out around the time Movie 9 was released seemed to be a "rough draft" of what the film was like. With this movie being less than 6 months away this trailer seems that it is more like the definitive version of the movie and it's obvious that Oda's involvement helped improve several ideas and structures that were present in the original trailer.

I don't know, Fuji aired that infamous movie 7 promo not too long before the premiere, and there was a good number of scenes that didn't end in the movie..including some daylight fighting scenes that never happened.
I noticed a couple of still shots that possibly were made for this trailer, or maybe are just unfinished..
-
So Nami's in the line-up now huh?
'scuse the obviously shitty pic.

I don't know if anyone has post this yet but here's the
.I can't get over this trailer… kick ass.
-
thanks for the great english subd trailer, this movie looks really great, from the trailer it looks like the movie takes place in the unlimited cruise worlds,or its just similar…
-
So, Shiki's plan is to rule the world from the skies, with a hefty dose of ''I have your wife/girlfriend/whatever'' thrown in for good measure to make it personal?
That's the impression I get, anyway.

I think there has to be a good reason..maybe Shiki notices Nami's talent by chance and decides to use her, seeing how the Strong World islands clearly have different seasons. She's gotta be useful.
I have no idea on how her 'goodbye' message fits though. -
trailer rly hyped me..
but.. golden lion shiki…ehhm looks not that good..but whatever seeems to be a hell of a villain hehe
and so much giant animals..i know oda loves animals but the whole trailer showing us SH escaping\fighting those...oooookaaayyyy :)

am i the only one how noised that shiki has a swords instead his legs?

No you're not the only one.
Anyways, as for scenes that won't make it to the movie, I think the one with the octopus chasing luffy won't make it as his clothes are red, not black. Maybe they might fix that…

Luffy has multiple outfits in the film.
-
Luffy has multiple outfits in the film.
Yes, but I'm talking about the one when he was being chased by an Octopus which was a red version of his black clothes.

Did you see luffy wearing a red version of the coat that is from the movie poster in other parts of the movie trailer other than the chase scene? No. Therefore, we can conclude that they may edit the scene with the Octopus or take out entirely since in that scene, Luffy is wearing a red coat instead of black. I know Luffy only has three sets of clothing; swimsuit, default and his suit. I doubt he has a complete color set for that coat. -
Here is a high resolution pic of the poster
A few quick questions:
Is this poster still available to those who pre-order tickets?
How much are the tickets?
How big is the poster?I’ve got a friend on holiday in Japan right now and the trailer has me pumped for movie merch
-
Does anyone notice Luffy's tie keeps changing from red to black?
-
Huh…it does. Either that's a one-time goof or they put that part together early on to use for promotional posters and suc and that scene will play out differently in the film itself.
-
Maybe, but it's red/pink on all the figures:
!
But, the in the trailer, it's both!
! Red:
! Then turns black:

I know there's been debate whether this is a canon film or not because Oda wrote the script (to be honest I don't want to resurrect that discussion), but I was wondering if Kinjishi will be a character we'll see in the manga or one that will only be seen in Strong World?
He's been mentioned in the manga… did Oda just put him in as a teaser (for the film) or for some epic foreshadowing (which he is notorious for)?
I don't know if this has been asked before but I just wanted to hear some opinion on Kinjishi being a canon/noncanon character.
And if you do think he will appear in the manga, when do you think he will appear? I think it would be hilarious if Oda put him on a chapter cover the week the movie premiered. -
Most likely Shiki will be on Jump cover, as usual when a new movie comes out.
I think Sengoku mentioned him as a teaser, the corresponding anime episode should be aired around the premiere, Toei will probably use it to their favor. -
Ever since Movie 4 came out, Oda's done a JUMP cover for each of the movies (save 6 for some reason). This'll be no exception, especially since he's written the story himself. (Or JUMP will be lazy and simply reuse that poster)
Personally, though, I don't think that Shiki is going to appear in the manga itself. The logistics would be a bit messy, especially if you try to incorporate the movies into the anime canon, which can be done for all of them save 3, 8, and 9.

On the pre-order announcement, they said that they would give away the free gifts "while supplies last". I don't know how quickly these things are given away, so you may still have a chance to get one. (And if they don't have any more posters, you could always get the clearfile if they have some left.) The ticket should be ¥1300 everywhere in Japan; it has an image of the Straw Hats in their movie gear on it, so you may want it for memorabilia even if you can't get the poster…but I hope you can get it, it's awesome! It's B2 (500 x 707mm) size, which is a pretty decent size for a free poster. Good luck!
-
I personally don't think Shiki will be in the manga for the simple fact that Luffy will DESTROY HIM!!!!
-
Shiki has the Wind Wind fruit. Paramecia.
