I'm really interested to see how this war is paced. Im guessing it's going to be along the lines of what happend at the end of SA, lots of action crammed together with no breaks. I really hope we don't get match ups along the lines of say EL where we see long fights and 1 at a time. If were seeing a war I think a good mix of fights in a single chapter until we get to the important matchups is the best approach. ( In other words nothing like Kubo's idea of a war )

I don't know. The way I see it happening, the war will be a background factor in the Straw Hats lives affecting the arcs that they go through. I don't see Oda letting Luffy fight through the entire war or even at all. He is somehow going to get pull away from it after Ace dies.

Yeah, the war won't be upfront, just like next week Kubo will switch to Ichigo. They're called main characters for a reason.

If this manga was written in English, that D idea would be really cool.
Well, Oda's already used English quite a bit throughout the story (the Grand Line, Calm Belts, the One Piece itself), so I don't see any problem there. Heck, the "Gold Roger=Gol D. Roger" trick works much better in English than in Japanese.

Considering fact, that WB should have planned successful strategy for this war, there is what we will not see at first:
- full frontal attack
- shichibukai battle
Another point - what if BB already spread darkness below the MHQ/Marineford? All he should do, is to consume everything on island. I don't think distance is matter for him in case his element.

Why does everyone make a big deal about Pell not dying in the same arc as a man being hit in the head with a 4 Ton Bat and not dying? On top of the fact, the guy who didnt die from a point blank explosion, was a flying man bird. Some things make sense in One Piece, some dont, stop trying to say that Oda didnt want to kill Pell, when the truth is he didnt have to because of the already twisted logic of One Piece.

Nobody is complaining about Pell not dying. I'm just using him as supporting evidence for Ace not dying either. Saying that Usopp didn't die wont help anybody's case.

Pells death would have meant something to Vivi and friends for a while, Aces death would change the world of One Piece, The main character and the flow of the story forever. I agree that he wont die, but for completly diffrent and more justifiable reasons. What I was saying was it didnt matter if Pell died, wouldnt have changed the story or the general flow of things, so the comparison isnt needed. Ussop is a bad example.

It was just a joke, I wasn't looking to start any sort of debate about Pell. You're the one who brought up Usopp, not me, I just tried to respond to it. I have a list of much better reasons why I don't think Ace will die, but I'm sure zkaiser has seen it so I'm just having fun with him right now.

Roger asked Garp to take care of the child to be born… Dragon being Garp son maybe already knew Iva-san and may have helped... Maybe he wasn't yet a revolutionary but such events may have pushed him to fight the WG using another way than just being pirate.
Also, remember how Iva reacted when Luffy said he was Ace bro ? "Then he is Dragon's son too, I have to help him" -> Did Dragon consider Ace as his son after all ?
To $abZ: if Dragon considers Ace as his son, because he helped Roger and became revolutionnary because of the WG actions, he has even more reasons to show. Maybe more than he would to save Luffy.
Ah, I'm someone else thought of this (I mentioned it earlier on the threat actually). The main objection would be, was Ivankov with Dragon at that point? It seems like they only met after Luffy had been born, since Iva didn't know about him having a family in East Blue when they were together. Unless Dragon fathered Luffy in secret while he was already leading the Revolutionaries. I think it might be possible that Rouge sought Iva out while he was still the Queen of Kamabakka Kingdom because of his reputation as a miracle worker, and he was willing to help because Roger was able to stand up to the WG and his son might in some measure be able to do the same.

So Pell's death was meaningless and Ace's would change the world? You don't see that as even more of a reason for Ace to die?

The two deaths that are pretty damn certain (besides nameless guys, like the guy Lucky Roux plugs in the first chapter, and people in the past) are Mr. 11 (confirmed) and Shura (Yeah, there's no flapping way this guy is still alive. The dude took a Reject Dial to the heart, something that killed Eneru, only Eneru brought himself back to life). Anyone else… Oda leaves it ambiguous because it's a kid's story. With Ace... if the person has to die for story reasons, great. But pointless death is just pointless.
As for Pell... I still theorize that Pell swung around and flung the bomb upwards and away from him... Silly, I know, but he ended up way the fuck out in the middle of the desert somewhere, which means that it's entirely probable that he flung the bomb as far as he could, took the edge of the blast, got beat up, but survived.

Buggy's already motivated all the prisoners into fighting at Marineford. So at the very least, he's lead 200 people to run into their deaths.

Roger+Rogue --> AceSo what is Garp to Ace? Just the man who made a promise to Roger?

This most likely wrong but it is a fun idea. I say that Ace's is the Will of Devotion, Roger is the Will of Discovery and that Blackbeard has the Will of Destiny along with Luffy.

I also believe Rouge is the Amazon queen who
left and never returned (guess because of love). Maybe Iva gave her some hormones which prevented from dying after giving birth to Ace. Married Dragon and had Luffy. LOL. -
If Iva's hormones keep people alive, it makes it too convenient.
Iva's hormones can cure poison only if the recipient is strong-willed and has high vitality.
However, to have a hormone that keeps a woman pregnant for 20 months, and then keep her alive after, I'd have to say that this fruit is broken, even by One Piece's epic standards.
Also, Renegadesoul, those would work, if you could find the words for it that start with D.
