This whole simulcast, I don't get why they don't have the new episode up online at the exact time it airs in Japan, that's a true simulcast, not an hour later. Is that cause they don't wanna upload the episode on their servers before it starts airing? Well, they didn't stop them from doing it like a day earlier.

yeah no kidding. I don't mind waiting 1 hour. Saturday night is way earlier than I'm used to watching One Piece. It would be especially handy for episode 408, which has yet to be released by anyone…:wassat:

Didn't that interview with ANN say they found the guy though?
He said they think they found whoever did it, but that's it's also difficult to track down and prosecute the person.

Looks cool. Maybe they'll set up something like hulu where they will show the anime with a few commercials.

They should put some dubbed HXH episodes up 'cause I want to here how they sound (of course I think it's dubbed by Viz so I guess not). And DBK would be awesome. And of course OP I hope will come back.
Wouldn't anyone want to see "Shin-Chan" as a potential simulcast? Am I the only one that prefers the Japanese version ? :sad:
Oh well, anyway "One Piece" will definitely come back, it's just a matter of when. And I know some of you guys out there are saying, "I'll believe it when I see it," but obviously with a sensitive issue like this we as the general public are not allowed to know what's going on behind the scenes.

What issues are left I mean toei and funimation both want the simlucast and they already fixed the video players. What next!?
It's not just a matter of "We both want this, get it done". It's never that easy when working with large companies.
Hell, I work for a relatively small publishing company and it took me almost six months to get a set of business cards printed in-house.

I think the waiting on the announcement probably had a lot to do with timing. The closest "big" convention to happen before the simulcast was supposed to go like was Anime Boston, and that was just a week before it was supposed to happen - in other words it would have been really short notice to announce that at AB.
Oddly, Funimation was at Anime Central, which was two weeks before AB - maybe the deal wasn't finalized in time for that con?
That said, this is con season - there's two more big cons coming up this month alone so more simulcasts announcements will probably happen at cons. As for the simulcast's return, I agree with firecrouch, unless the deal happens to be closed during a convention weekend and even then I doubt the con would get it as an exclusive first.
To tell you the truth I think they are going to anounce more simlucasts than just one piece this time. As shodojo says simlucast from japan I am guessing there will be more simlucast than just the 3 they are already doing. But yeah we should just hope for the best

I thought it would be interesting to note that the other series' Simulcast that got leaked before it aired, Phantom, is back on FUNimation's site.
They uploaded 10 and 11 recently. I have no clue where the series would be right now. (probably in the 14 or so range.) However they removed 10 back during the whole incident, so at least one series is back up.
I still wish they could tell us when the One Piece Simulcast is coming back!

We don't even know when this announcement will be. The update before was talking about Soul Eater's cast being announced next Tuesday, so it's like she's saying that we'll also get the news on that day.
While this is going to sound contradictory to all the good news in the thread, I had a chat with my contact in Funimation. All I can say is he is a voice actor I'm not dropping a name out of respect.
He said that while he couldn't say for sure as far as he knew the simulcast wouldn't be coming back, he said he would look into it to make sure when he could.
on a lighter note he told me they are really barreling through dubbing One Piece for the DVDs so thats nothing to worry about.

I'm with Envy - the news is less than an hour old and although I see no reason to not believe you, you aren't naming your source and you suddenly contradict good news? I'm sorry but that's a little suspect.
Furthermore most of the news we've gotten has been to the contrary. Funimation AND TOEI want the simulcast back. The license wasn't dropped and DVDs are still selling well. Heck, we even got news that there's still hope on the Unlimited Cruise getting a Region 1 release front!

Still, it's weird that we've been getting nothing but good news and suddenly "oh look guys it's not coming back sad for us". It's possible your voice actor might be under contract to not say anything and, for whatever reason, he or she thought that was the best course of action to take. Look at the Chris Sabat thing from a while back. Don't get me wrong I have nothing against the voice actors and I think Funimation has a lot of good ones but they don't all seem to be the best sources for information.
The bad sushi incident? lol.
But yeah, when we've got official's saying that it's most likely coming back, it's hard to trust a voice actor like that. =/ Besides if he said "but I don't know." it was probably just his opinion, right?
