..Hey, wasn't there supposed to be another car between Wanze's and CP9's? Or did Wanze fly through that too?
Chapter 372 "Parage" Discussion
-
-
If you look close enough on the 4th & 5th panels on the last page, you can see there's a carriage between them.
-
Were'nt there any agents in cart 3?
-
Not anymore. They´re all in the last two cars that got seperated from the Umi-Ressha.
-
the agent in the 3rd car is nero who is fighting on the roof w/ franky, so no there is no agent in the 3rd car now
-
Nero had subordinates with him when we first see him. I assume he either ordered them ahead to assist T-Bone & CP6 or they backed up the guys in the 5th car & got wiped out or… they may still be in stationed in the 3rd car, though it's very unlikely.
-
They are not in the car anymore. At the bottom of the first (or third if you take the color spread as pages) of Chapter 369 it is already been mentioned who is still riding the train.
The agents went of while there was the ruckus about getting the prisoners back that just escaped. And since Sanji, Usopp and Franky were clever enough to lure all agents, marine and T-Bone into the last two cars they are all gone. Only the big guys remain. -
Well, I did say it was very unlikely. :P Anyways, I'm sure that was Nero's men who backed up T-Bone & the marines in 6/7 & who were also left in the 5th car.
-
Hey guys, here is the HQ version of the chapter 372

Has anyone else noticided that Zoro and Paulie almost always sit to together or stand next to eachother in puffing tom!?! They're becoming friends.. :D
-
You mean Rocket Man? ;)
Yeh, I've sorta noticed that too. But also, I think Lulu & Tilestone have totally stolen Pauly's thunder while on RM, he's kind of been overshadowed so far. Heck! I had to do some double takes just make sure he was there in some chapters. :P
-
Oh, yeah Rocket man, not Puffing Tom… :D

I noticed that you said unlikely. I just wanted to back my statement up with information.

That's great! You know what that IS? It's the pirate from a popular children's game in Japan which you push swords into a barrel and the 'right' spot sends the pirate flying out of the barrel.
Didn't that pop up way back in a very early chapter of Yu-Gi-Oh where the school had a carnival?
This was a life-sized version where they stuck Jounouchi in the barrel… at any rate, it was back before the card game entered the picture. Yugi played a Shadow Game that was basically air hockey on a griddle.
I think Viz called it Blackbeard's Revenge or something similar. Is that just a localization or is that fairly close to the real name?

Yeah, I wasn't sure if that was another carriage or not. Thanks. That was bugging me.

Oh my, I just noticed.
Bon Clay is spelled Bon Kurei? Gee…
-
The romanization is really hard to rely on. I've seen it as "Bon Clay" romanized in other stuff (namely GB Rush).
-
I'll still go with Bon Kure. Unless it's a direct pun or something ("tyansu" would definitely be "chance," etc.) I see no prob with romanizing how you feel.
-
His name is supposed to have something to do with a holiday; the Bon Clay part being the female codename…

**Oh my, I just noticed.Bon Clay is spelled Bon Kurei? Gee…
**Well that´s actually what they always said in the anime. That´s probably why the germans translated him as Bon Curry over Bon Clay. :D

The holiday is Bon Kure, which is why I use "Bon Kure."
-
I said Bon Clay earlier, but now, when I see Oda spell it Bon Kurei, I do so too. :P
The only thing I don't do the same as Oda is Zoro. Damn, Roronoa sounds totally gay, it have to be Lolonoa!

Bonkure's that famous holiday where you honor the dead by lighting those lanterns and setting them off along the river. (Incidentally the Bon Odori which we were fooling around with last chapter is also a part of it…)
I dunno. I just use Bon Clay 'cause that's what I'm used to (same thing with Dracule/Juraquille)

I….think ya got it backwards. :P
-
so i gues its official, if oda spelled Mr 2 as Bon Kurei instead of our USUAL bon clay, then bon kurei must be his official name, i mean its written in the manga!
-
I don't know about it being official, really.
I got confused when I read the early part of Water 7, and the guys referred to Galley-La as "Galeela" or "Gorilla" group. Of course, all the huge signs saying GALLEY-LA sorta' set me straight.
Personally, I think it is just a translation issue. And Bon Kure sounds weird. I simply looked upon it as, "Oh, some Engrish" when I saw the Wanted poster, there.
Wonder what significance this might have? =P
-
Of course the Galeela and Gorilla stuff are translation baddies. They weren´t done neither by Oda nor by his team so you can´t go by them. But if there´s an unaltered pic from the manga that says Galley-la and if that one even appears moreoften then you can be sure that this is the official spelling.
And as far the Bon Kurei spelling is concerned. Just go back to and watch an episode of the anime that features him and then you can tell whether they say Clay or Kurei.
-
Well, it's both pronounced about the same, so… Yeah. ''How it sounds'' isn't really an argument here. Added to that, this is the first time Oda gave us an ''official'' romanization (Even the Data books only had ''Mr.2'', I think), so seeing as how I'm one to use Oda's spellings I'll probably be using ''Bon Kurei'' from now on.
It'll take some adjusting, though.
-
yah same goes for me, i follow what oda writes and i think in the anime they say it fast for example "Mr 2 Bon Krei" <- silent U or fast U and u know how japanese and chinese people make R and L sound very similar, so we thought it was bon clay. but then again il use bon kurei from now on, would be hard i think lol
-
Well maybe I just heard the U in the anime because I was biased with the german name Bon Curry. Actually what I heard was a combo of Curry and Clay, something like Bon Curray. Well and Kurei actually fits perfectly for me here. :D

Yes, well. There's plenty of signs with Galley-La, and even the translators refer to them as Galley-La, after the signs begin to appear. Must've just been a first bitten, twice shy situation.
As far as the animÃ, they say it like Kuray, or Kray. I'm not sure how to feel.

… Bon Kuree/Kurei it is, then?_
-
wow, well ya learn something new everyday right :D. although i'm sticking to calling him bon clay or mr. 2.

ahh. not i get it why they called him Bon Curry in german dub :o
-
Guys, are anyone of you considering a little thing called 'Romaji'?
If you read his name in Japanese it's ボン クレー literally bo n ku re-
If you'd write the REAL festival it's 盆暮れ or bo n ku re
Note the real title has no extension on the last syllable.
Oda has stayed true to the name of the character which he created and used re'i' to add the extension. I assume this is PRECISELY why 'Clay' has been used until now simply because it is NOT the same as the real spelling. re in Japanese is pronounced 'ray' in English and 'i' is pronounced 'ee'. If you wanna look at it like that it's 'koo-ray-ee'. Now account for the lack of a clear Japanese L and R and you'll see
IT'S THE SAME THING AS SAYING 'CLAY' ANYWAY
Oda's English spellings have been innaccurate or at the very least inconsistant before as in the case of St./Sent Briss/Blis but since we know how that spelling should be utilized at least thus far since we've only seen it once, that is what should be used, or at least what I will make an attempt to use from now on.
-
Well for almost two years I called him Bon Curry. Then I came here and saw that it is Bon Clay which was not that tough to adapt for me. But after I´ve finally seen the K-F´s I actually wondered where everyone got the Clay from since what has been said in the anime could be interpreted as both Clay and Curry (or as I said before Curray).
But I remained quiet about the spelling since I didn´t see any point in starting a discussion about that. But right now that I´ve finally see´n the spelling Bon Kurei I´ll go with it since it is closer to that which I used from the beginning then Clay which I actually never really liked. :D

rofl Omae…. u remembered me from where i've seen that pirate before. at first i tought a lame version of Peter Pan but now i got it! I HAD THAT TOY!! gotta check the attic (sp?) when i get home

some funny fake spoilers, but not the real deal yet.

What did the fake spoilers say?!
-
Did anyone notice that Franky says "Franky Invisible" instead of invincible? Not too bright, that boy.
-
Wow this chapter was just spectacular!
Sanji beautifying Wanze was hilarious! But it didn't last.
I hope Sanji doesn't get beaten to a pulp by CP9, or else I will start crying!
I want the next xhapter to go to Robin and Us….............SogeKing. :)

**Furigana gives 'inbijiburu'. I guess invincible would be 'inbin_shi_buru'? Either way it's not something I would've noticed. Cool beans :)
-
He says フランキー インビジブル.
And yet,
invincible: 【発音】invi'nsэbl、【@】インビンシブル -
I figured it was some sort of "double joke," like he was acting invisible and invincible at the same time.
