What I really found interesting when Zoro fought Mihawk is this: when Mihawk drew his huge sword and rushed at Zoro, Zoro started Sanzen Sekai. Then they both rushed at each other. In the manga at least, there is one small panel with the classic dead giveaway of something: Mihawk was sweating. One sweat drop. He was shook for a second there. Now, he didn't get hurt at all, but I believe he had to think and react pretty fast. Zoro was unleashing so much potential there. You only see super powerful characters in manga sweat (aside them maybe being awkward weirdos) when their position of power hiearchy is being threatened. Anyway… enough ranting. Go Zoro.
OK, I'm gonna need some help here. I stumbled upon this picture by accident:
Can someone please tell me from which episode is this scene.
Good point there. But isn't that obvious from what Mihawk says later?! Maybe Mihawk want Zoro to be then one to surpass him instead of some goof with increadible luck.

Grand Battle 2, a video game.
Anyway, I think Mihawk just thought it looked cool. He surely couldn't have thought much of the Sanzen Sekai after he went through it like melted butter.
Thanks Buccaneer. Damn, I feel like an idiot…
Eh, don't. It's hard to know, with all of the original animation that's out there.

Damn Bucc you beat me too it
Here's something I want to add to the whole "can Zoro slice a ship" discussion.
He was able to do this in Skypiea:
And if I'm not mistaken, he used only one sword.
He did that all in one stroke? Didn't think about that. Though, it's still not quite as impressive.
It just reminds me of YYH, when Hiei compared his crater to Toguro's. His looked good, but not in comparision.

what!! those were rock solid. very tough it survives everything. BTW zoro cuts Steel, dont you think he can cut a ship ;)
Not a whole one as easily as Mihawk did.
Cutting steel doesn't have all that much to do with cutting a ship. It helps, a lot, but simply being able to go through the material doesn't mean you'll be able to sever a large amount of it.
well Technically if he cuts stell and has a move that cuts air i think he can do it

cutting through air? is that possible? yet it sounds interesting O_Ozoro must learn that!

All I can say is that Zoro is my absolute fave.
I just love everything about him! Maybe 'cause I'm a little bit like him. Though I consider myself even more serious.
I can't believe I am doing this in a topic about Zoro but I am skipping all the pages because I don't feel like reading.
Zoro is my all time favorite character, not just in the show but in all the anime I have ever watched. He is a very unique character, he doesn't take life all too seriously but when he has to he becomes the most bad ass character I have ever seen.
When he was young he fought Cuina and losst 2001 times but still did not give up because he was determined and after he made the promise to her and she died he still kept his promise no matter what, that shows how good of a friend he is. He is the only one in the straw hat pirates that obays Luffy without question and he follows it out to the fullest.
He uses the Santoryu style of fighting which in my opinion is the coolest style I have ever seen, the way he fights is just really different. He seems to make up moves on the spot which we all know is not true because he trains all the time) and he mannages to beat anybody who he chalenges no matter how bad he gets beat up.
If Zoro had to go up against Mihawk again, I think he would definatly win. He now knows how to cut steel and he has much more expirience and sword techniques, back when he first fought him his best move was 3000 worlds.
i dont know why people keep saying that ?
last time zoro couldnt even scratch the guy and he was using a fucking pen knife and zoro was going all out,
and now like 3 months later hes learned maybe 3-4 new moves and now hes suddenly supposed to be superior to mihawk ?
he really hasnt improved that much he may have gone past the stage when he could fend him off with a knife but if he pulled his sword then zoro would be assraped once again so no no zoro is no where near mihawk yet.
Exactly! Zoro could never, ever in fucking hell beat Mihawk now. Dream on kids! Just as you say, if only Mihawk got that tiny knife, then would Zoro stand a chance, but against that gigantic black sword?! No way, dude.
Right now, Zoro probably couldn't beat Mihawk. But, as Ivotas said, he'll probably face him somewhere at the end of the series. And that'll be a completely different duel indeed… Mihawk better watch out...
Probably? Uhm, you know that Mihawk is the best swordman in the whole world right, and therefore probably one of the strongest man in the world?! Uhm… say as you like, you can go now.

during skypiea? hmm cant remember anymore, besides i only read manga, cant see the anime. Im waiting for a friend to download all those 200+ episodes then maybe after that I'll look at them. or maybe I should read that skypiea arc agen._

What are you trying to say? It's pretty obvious that that is how it'll be. Zoro may have lost to a baby knife, but he's definitely got at least 3 more revolutions before facing Mihawk. And don't act as if Oda's against defying odds.
Thedevil…I kinda think he's capable, but it'd be a grand effort from him then, and not Mihawk.
I just wanted to point out that not everyone should say that they think Zoro can beat Mihawk now. It makes me damn crazy.

OK, I'll say it again 'cause it seems that I haven't been very clear about this…
I don't think that Zoro can beat Mihawk at this moment.
I think he can.. when he will fight him he will get better like the fight with Mr.1 but he wont take that much damage he will take more
The Zoro vs Mihawk duel will be the bloodiest battle ever in OP.

I´ll be so much laughing my ass off if it turns out to be a battle where actually the swords just hit each other and just one final strike decides the outcome of the battle.
My thoughts about Zoro are I like him as long as his name isn't Zolo. Easy as that.
I wonder if Zoro's hair everywhere is green… Cool, dude.
I remember that while in Whiskey Peak, Zoro mentioned that someone from the Baroque Works offered him to join their organization. Did he ever say who made him that offer?
he said who it was to mr.1 but i can't remember who. i think it was mr.6, i'm not sure lol.

!
IIRC, it was the original Mr. 7. He's pictured in an SBS in one of the recent volumes.

 I wonder that too. We might never know since we can't see any other hair other than the one on his head. Zoro doesn't have any leg hair either. :o Late puberty, anyone?

It would be interesting to see whether Oda'll make Zoro grow a green beard and mustache. I think he'd look cool.
Btw, I just saw screenshots from episode 223 and it looks like there'll be SPOILER another Luffy vs Zoro battle. I couldn't find any episode summary, so if someone can plese fill me in. WTF is going on?
Thanks for the summary ct11188. Btw, I like that picture in your sig. Where did you get it?
He never said that he'd fullfill his promise with a whole body that's for sure
What if Zoro fights Mihawk, and then loses again (after giving Mihawk some hard time, ofkors). Do you think that Mihawk will leave him with something other than a big scar? Maybe he'll rip one of his eyes out, or something.
Yeah that was a pretty surprising fight for a filler.. btw Luffy got his ass kicked
In the second fight with Zoro?

Yeah, it was in episode 223. It's a filler arc about some kid that stole the memories of the Straw Hats crew and eventually hypnotized Zoro and made him fight Luffy. And judging by the screenshots, Zoro had actually beaten Luffy.
Here are the screenshots:
I agree with you green hair. :)
well a filler doesnt really count for much,
lots of weird stuff happens in fillers like zoro cutting steel even before he learned how to do it,
and it wasnt really shown that zoro had won,
the way i saw it was that luffy was the winner since he managed to get zoro to remember possibly by beating the crap outta him
or it could just have been a draw and ended after zoro regained his memory.
Yeah, fillers can be really weird. Well, here's what happened after their fight:
I don't have a summary though, sorry.
thats allright ive already watched those episodes,
I really don't get it, why does Toei put so little effort in making those fillers. I mean, Uda does a great job while directing Oda's manga chapters, but he doesn't seem to work his butt out on the fillers. Maybe he doesn't direct them? Maybe Toei leaves them to some lousy guest directors or some new guy that needs practice.
In the Manga, while Zoro was fighting Baroque Works, it never happened.
I mean; he never said who offered him to join, he said that they did that.
