Basically, I was told at Anime Boston that Funi does NOT have the license for G8 and beyond, but they were going to go after them when the time came. Now, granted, it'll take Funi a while to release Baroque Works (ESPECIALLY Baroque Works) and Skypiea, so maybe things will cool down by the time they go for those episodes.
Really? I find it weird then that they were able to release Unlimited Adventure since it featured scenes/characters for CP9…....Guess it's just different for games.

All I got from FUNimation's twitter is that they're still working out the security on the site and that "One Piece" is still on hold until further notice, so I can't tell from that what to guess as for when it could be re-uploaded.

Anyways, I had a thought for the people concerned over the DVDs: Chances are the DVDs and the streaming are separate contracts. Would a violation of one contract affect a separate contract? I don't think so - granted I'm not a lawyer, but that seems plausible to me.

Because this was all done ILLEGALLY when a legal alternative was presented. Yes, most if not all of the people here have read a scanlation or downloaded a fansub at some point, but a lot of people would prefer the legal alternative. Funimation was giving US and Canadian viewers a legal alternative and this one guy might have taken that away from us.
It's not awesome because we might not get to see the episode on the same day as Japan anymore.

The blame game seems to be mostly focusing on the person who posted the episode and Funi for not having good enough security, but as someone pointed out earlier not locking a store at night does not give someone the right to steal from the store.

I think the length of time we've gone without any answers is frightening. The last semi-DVD related news we got was that only the online videos were at stake "at this point" after someone asked if the DVDs would be affected.
Hopefully we'll get an answer by the end of the day. I'm sure this has been a NIGHTMARE for Funimation.
I got a response, I'm just going to highlight some things.
I honestly dont know anything. I know IT, digital and the web departments are freaking out. From what I heard, theyre still talking with TOEI. TOEI was here today, and someone showed them around (Like they often do when TOEI shows up) but I dont know if they were scheduled to come either before or after the incident.
My personal opinion:
Just like the fans have said, there was no such "security." FUNi servers were not "hacked." Had I known their about their system, I would have told someone, or at least asked, "Is this a good idea if we really dont want people seeing it before such time." And of course how easy it is to download.
…..They removed FMA brotherhood which was also simulcast, but I believe they'll add it back when they figure things out, since its not TOEI. (They removed it for safety) As far as I know OP is safe in regards to real life media (dvd, bluray, etc) Again, I know nothing about the future of simulcasting in regards to OP. I can totally understand TOEI… ...when your own home country is able to download and watch an episode before it even airs on TV, well, thats a big deal. I'd thrown a tantrum too. It was very difficult to get the rights from TOEI to do this (Thats why it took so long to see episodes after I said that I saw them rip them for that purpose) So this will just make things even more difficult with TOEI.
I got a response, I'm just going to highlight some things.
Well the DVD thing is good news (even if it's an "as far as I know" deal), but I hope we get an official statement soon, especially in regards to future licensing.

Personally I think that if they start putting "One Piece" back up after FUNimation improves their security, they should make the wait between the upload and the time it airs in Japan a little longer, whether it three hours later or a day later, something along those lines. If they don't start seeing leaks, or if leaks do happen and they don't happen so easily and quickly, then by then it's "Proof" that FUNimation is more reliable and then Toei Animation can better consider whether to let them go back and release an hour after for free like the were originally going to.
Anyway like I said before if you're really concerned call Toei Animation and let theme know what's on your mind. I don't know if anyone of inportance is in their L.A. office right now, and usually they don't just talk to any fans that easily, but like as was the case when 4Kids cancelled "One PIece" if they start getting fan response in numbers they'll see something's up and be more likely to want to listen.

I don't see a One Piece 404 torrent on their site yet, by the way. Still putting out my suggestion of waiting until after the Japanese airing for putting the shows on the server so they probably can't be leaked. Even if it would take an extra hour.

People got Episode 10 of Phantom before it aired in Japan, on torrent sites, apparently they also have One Piece Episode 404 too. No torrent for it yet.

The first thing they really need to fix here is to stop uploading the files onto the server before it airs in Japan. The impatient idiots/jerks who want to ruin everything for us around here (where I live/America, not this forum. XD) are just not going to stop… -_-
Well, we don't know what they're talking about with Funi and Toei. Things could be better than we think, but it does seem like DVDs are PROBABLY safe. The streaming and simulcast are nice, but I think as long as we have EVENTUAL access to the episodes I'm content.
We don't BUT if Toei catches wind of these last few leaks that happened after this "additional security" was added, it's certainly going to hurt our chances of getting the Simulcast back no matter what.
