This is just so you can tell if there were characters that most other people absolutely hated, but you never really cared about much, or even might have liked.
For instance: I never hated Bellamy. I actually thought he was kind of cool. I didn't really care that he had beaten up Luffy and Zoro, because I was sure that they would fight him back sometime.
Are you kidding? Are you freaking KIDDING? Bellamy's entire existance is just as his name means: To interfere with the protagonist's romance. If you don't utterly loath him, you aren't appreciating One Piece the way it was meant to be.

I think Vivi is a good character puts up shield Maybe she's on the lower rankings of the "characters I admire in OP" list because I've gotten her twice on personality quizzes, but she's a caring leader and is not afraid to ask for help if she needs it. Aside from the breaking down at difficult moments, I have to wonder why some people hate her so much (rhetorical question; don't answer that).
Also, for a while, I thought a lot of people didn't like Usopp, but there are more fans out there than I first thought, so he doesn't count.
EDIT: I have just been told that it's the 4Kids' Usopp that people don't like. And frankly, I don't blame them. It's the original/FUNimation Usopp that's a whole lot better… but I didn't need to tell you all that.

Vivi was never super annoying to me. Not even when she complained and cried constantly. I just always put it off as her desperation to save her country. Poor girl.
And Usopp was always a great character to me. I hated it when he left the crew. The 4Kids' Usopp was like a "leprechaun on crack." His seiyu's voice is one of my favorites, actually.

True, it was a year ago, but it was a really big badass moment. No one else from the crew has done anything close to that since that time, except Luffy, and yet Zoro is the only one who seems to be under scrutiny. It's like the fans expect him to do big badass things all the time, but it's impossible. With the larger number of crewmates everyone will have much less screentime.
The thing is, the rest of Luffy's crew is either expected to be wussies, (Chopper, Usopp, Nami) or able to meet the demand by defult. (Brook, Franky)

It's true. Since the crew is growing, it's most likely not going to be all Luffy, Zoro and Sanji action. Not like it used to be, anyway. However, Oda may reunite the crew one by one, which is my suspicion. Zoro and Luffy will probably be reunited before the others, so hopefully he'll get more time.
Well I'm not really a huge fan of Zoro, but I don't think I've ever said it before now. Nothing against his character, just with all the weird ability's in One Piece swords don't really interest me. And with his badass attitude it kind of bores me. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate him and I find him funny when he gets lost.
I think Pappag is hilarious, like when caimie steels the attention from him and he starts yelling in the background, LOL.

Yeah, the fact that a lot of people here prefer a turtle who appeared in a couple of episodes to Zoro kind of gave it away…
I never hated spandam that much. I cringed when he beat up robin but i dont hate his existance. His voice and demenor didnt phase me at all. The worst from him IMO was that frunkfried sucked ass. I understand why people hate him though, he was definetly written to be the type of character you'd rather shoot urself than have come to life. I always thought bellamy was cool too. He was a real pirate in op. BB is a real OP pirate in the sense that he is badass and has a dream. Bellamy was a straight up coward, arrogrant, and vicious. Like alot of real pirates were. That being said his defeat was still extremely satisfying in my eyes.
I also never hated Spandam. He was the slightly generic, ineffectual villain with a bark worse than his bite. He served his purpose; to be the bad guy.
I actually found Sanji's "I'll never kick a woman, even if I die" line more vexing than anything Spandam has ever done.
I always liked Foxy. XD His power, his personality, his weakness, his tricks, his fight with Luffy, etc.! XDD
Yeah, I gotta go with Foxy on this too. That whole arc was just one of my favorites and is generally overlooked. I put the fight with Afro Luffy and Foxy up there with Crocodile and the like.

I was neutral about Spandam until I started rewatching Enies Lobby. The scene in his office with half of CP9 acting bizarre while he tries to keep order was actually a lot of fun, and I say this as someone who doesn't like CP9.

We'll see how the match against Banchi goes, but I'm pretty sure we wouldn't even be having this discussion if it were Luffy or Sanji or even Nami against the smoking turtle.

yeah i absolutely understand how you feel. but you see .. many zoro fanboys/girls are totally over the top. people are not going to get annoyed if someone states that zoro is great. ^^'' coz he definitely is! sadly, most fanboys go from "zoro is great" to "zoro is god". -- for them not a single other character stands a chance against zoro, and that well .. is annoying. coz he's not perfect and he can't beat everyone. the only other character who seems to be tolerated by them is luffy. coz well .. luffy is the main character and the only one who is as strong as zoro :getlost: and really .. i like zoro more than luffy but he is definitaly not as strong as luffy. and if you ever read a discussion about this topic -- you would have seen that zoro fanboys live in their own world. if it were any other character (nami, usopp, franky etc.) people wouldn't argue a lot. ^.^ really, it would be very friendly. but not with zoro .. coz for them, he has to be the strongest within the crew and since luffy is the captain (and obviously the strongest) .. he has to be at least as strong as him. that's just ridiculous, really.

Everyone above. I really don't dislike characters that much, so i really don't have any character at all… except Coby(And not only the young Coby, but the old Coby as well).... Except that, no hate. And because Coby caused a sidestory with a lot of Garp in in it. So not really Coby either.
I've noticed that Nami gets ragged on a fair bit. She doesn't really bug me, really. She's much less bitchy these days than she was during the earlier parts of the story, and Luffy and Robin seem to have a tendency to soften her character a bit.

I know he's a main character and all, but it's always seemed to me that he would be a character that a lot of people would dislike, I've seen a lot of people call him "annoying" but I disagree. I really like Usopp, he's been one of my favorites since the beginning.
There really aren't any characters in the series that I find annoying, though. The only ones that can be annoying are the antagonists, and they're annoying in the good "I want to see them punched in the face" way that they're supposed to be, not the "annoying" annoying… lol. If that made any sense.
seriously, after reading the whole series up till 545, i went back to the mock town mini arc, i wished luffy gigantic get bazooka stormed the guys head in
I also personally find Spandam hilarious. Totally reprehensible, to be sure, but hilarious, nonetheless. He certainly got his comeuppance. I would have hated him more had he gotten off scot-free.
As for me, I see a lot of people disliking Lucci for a variety of reasons. I dunno, maybe it's the writer in me, but I look at him and I see a great deal of depth in his characterization. He's a great contrast to Spandam, for example, who will beat the crap out of anyone weaker than him just to prove a point. A good example was when he ordered Lucci to grab Robin by the hairand kick her to get her moving again. It was an order that Lucci blatantly ignored; instead he knelt and took her by the arm, allowing her to stand.
To me, that speaks a great deal about his character. Yes, he's a sadistic, brutal killing machine. But he's a very highly moral person. He fought for justice, an ideal that is not easily followed by many. He kileld 4500 hostages because he felt that they were traitors and weak; too weak to do what was right and fight back against the pirates for their country, too weak to do what was best for their country and kill themselves, thus removing the hostage problem entirely.
I dunno. A friend and I have extrapolated on the depth of CP9 for a long time.

The one character I could never understand all the hate for was Vivi. Yes, the crying was over done. However if I was in her position I'd be crying as well; maybe even more so considering how often her best plans of stopping the rebellion were thwarted by Baroque Works, one after another. Actually the fact that she didn't just throw herself in a ditch and accept the fate of the country really made me like her honestly. It takes a lot of strength to put up with constant earth shattering disappointment like that each time and NOT give up completely. For that I can't hate her, no matter how annoying the crying did get when I watched most of the episodes for the Alabasta arc back to back.

I don't really see your point - those characters are meant to be hated, so they are hated. Nothing unexpected here.
This thread is about characters who are not meant to be hated, but still are, or for characters who are meant to be hated, but you don't mind as much.
I like Nami, despite people calling her a bitch(like all girls are supposed to act like an easy mate). I like her attitude, and the brain oriented fights she has. Sorta like chopper having the abititly to find a weak point and use it, Nami uses positions on the field and distration to her advantage.
Hancock is hated, but that's just an overlly vocal minority. So that does not matter. I like her too. It must be hard on the mind to rule an island of female warriors and keeping a treaty to prevent the government from having thier way. She also never gives in to the admiration she gets, so I assume that mindset was just an everyday thing to her before Luffy came along shedding a new light of her perception of manhood. I could go on, but I'll stop here. There's lots to say.
I've figured out why I don't like Hancock! It's not that I don't like her persay, but I really don't like Hancock fans. Especially the ones that are insisting she's the next nakama.
