@Bendario:
Nazi Germany, Stalinist Soviet Union, Old Dictatorshi- I mean Monarchies. Yeah, never in real life.
There are libraries of evidence suggesting that those regimes were sustained by a fear of death as a function of accumulating too much power. Hitler was tyrannical because he feared being assassinated, and his ruthlessness only served to legitimize his own fears with people responding to it by trying to assassinate him, leading to a circle that embodied Nazi Germany. The Soviet Union was much the same.
There's never been a comicbook-esque blackhat who kills people for the heck of it. That kind of person exists only in stories and is poorly developed because any development whatsoever ruins that kind of stock personality.
@Bendario:
Most rapists are charged with having a sexually based mental problem.
Proof? Most rapists are people of low income. They're never going to even see a psychiatrist.
@Bendario:
Sexually based crimes are considered to be caused by a mental instability. And actually, it's a little more like comparing genocide to assault and battery. Since that's, you know, what it is.
Again, this is a bold claim that makes no sense whatsoever. People rape because they're mental? What?
The common explanation for rape is it's a flaunt of power and dominance, which doesn't have any correlation with mental instability. All men crave that in different ways.
@Bendario:
I think it's just plain childish that a grown man can't control himself to such a minimal degree.
Way to trivialize dehumanization and humiliation as something akin to getting an erection at a belly dancing festival.
@Bendario:
The dichotomy of good and evil, one's honor, the meaning of friendship and ambition, and the like are far more mature issues to me.
Those are heavily romanticized and abstract concepts. Mature issues have some grounding in the real world. The only real world use of what you mentioned is in political rhetoric.
@Bendario:
Don't be an ass.
:silly:
@Bendario:
You know exactly how that quote was applied…
Not really.
