i've been wondering about this. how is it going to be Sena vs Panther when sena doesn't even have a position on defense? Or is it that Panther's going to play on both defense and offense? if so, than that doesn't seem fair..

i liked this chapter a lot
i'm glad the pace is so quick, and seeing Sena and co. completely annihilating their opponents was good

Well aside from yet another weird Obama reference, this week's chapter was…strange. It was great to get some hype for a couple more members of Team USA but it still feels like it's rushing a bit.

I don't know about the Brad Pitt reference but his appearance reminds me more of Kevin from the Backstreet boys :P (…..don't ask)
I like this chapter, even though they didn't show anything from USA vs. India (rushed but i know it's not even necessary) and Mr.Don being too bulky.

! Monta takes the ball from Bud (with Marco´s screw bite it seems or that´s what Marco and Sena say, but the taking happpens off screen while only Bud´s head is shown, Marco admits that Monta´s "screw bite" might be stronger than his own because of Monta´s catching power) and says that he´ll have to beat Bud to become the World´s #1 reciever.
That´s the page that was missing in the scanlation I red at least.
But well, an ok chapter.
The world cup arc seems so rushed, but then again I expected it to end with the christmas bowl and I guess it was supposed to…

Yeah I agree, the five stars are probably made in order to defy the 5 main protagonists (Sena, Hiruma, Monta, Shin and Kurita) so it's necessary for Gaou to leave the contest for the strongest Lineman to Kurita.
I juste hope that thay don't ruh the final like they did with Germany (i.e. only one real duel) -
I have…shall we say a rather odd theory about the pacing. When the World Cup arc began we had a rather major change happen. No longer were the heroes a rag tag group of underdogs bent on striving to overcome adversity. They formed the Dream Team, all of the best of the best in the series. Surely a fan-dream come true but think about this. The series has changed into a generic best of the best now. Look at how many members of the team are getting ignored. What has half of the dream team done story wise? Nothing. Now for the theory...
I believe the fast pace from the last few chapters has been to end this arc quickly so perhaps we can get back to the way the story has always been with the Deimon Devil Bats. Sure they could head to the NFL but I think so much of the charm of the series lies with characters such as Komusubi, and Yuki and the Haha's etc. Without them its just one strong guy after another on the team. No room for improvement etc.
Now I'm half awake when I'm typing this so just sorta be patient. I know that technically speaking Hiruma, Kurita, and Musashi had this as their last chance. What is to say that the writer won't put off some crazy championship thing in Japan returning the series to how it should be.
In my personal opinion, if the series goes to the NFL or whatever with the current dream team for the rest of the series then in my opinion Eyeshield 21 ended with the Christmas Bowl. Plain and simple.

Great chapter, Gaoh vs Don then Agon gets in the act, and Gaoh still loses. Sena run was only 5.1 due to him trying to copy panthers run, Agon regrew his hair via god speed impluse, and it seems Mr Don has some past with yamato.
I think we have competely left the worries about the pacing behind.

The worries aren't completely gone, but it was a well-paced chapter. LOL at Agon's "God Speed Impulse Hair Growth." (aww, I wanted to see him fight looking like Unsui)

decent chapter and atleast we focous on one single event this time, But what did smacking Gaoh in the face prove. Yknow i get the whole im geneticaly superior to you schtick but couldnt Don atleast have shown some football skills.
And i was really disapointed to see that it wasnt Hiruma betting against him at the end.

Somehow the pace seeming to cool down again feels weird after the light-speed movement the last few weeks have had. But it was interesting (but obvious) to see Don destroy Gaoh…and to see what looks like a confrontation between him and Yamato.

I guess, But juding from what he told Gaoh its probably just gonna be an Apollo deluxe story. "Your japanese and you need to know your place. Now im going to defeat you and then im going to use my connections to fuck with your career."
We really need a little Kurita and Hiruma injection, Id settle for Hiruma bazooka blasting a challenge from Kurita into Dons car.

This entire arc seems to be Inagaki and Murata playing around with other characters they've written (especially Gaou and Agon) who they couldn't really write much about do to the fact that they weren't Devilbats.
It seems to me that the story of the Deimon devilbats is done, that chapter "the Last of the Deimon devilbats" really was the Last of the deimon devilbats. all that remains now is the story of Eyeshield 21, how he came to Japan, and why he left America, why he gave up his title, and whether or not Sena can truly gain the title, by defeating the one opponent Yamato couldn't.

Well what do you know Kaisers black, Thats unexpected.
Cant really say that the upcoming Yamato revelation seems all that intresting, unless its a reeeeally riveting upset i cant see myself caring about the man who is quite possibly the most stock character on the entire team. Wish they would get back to the rest of the team, put a little more focus on Hiruma and finaly have the glorious return of Habashira.

I think I need to read this week's with translation…but it seems like Yamato left the US due to Panther. Probably more interesting was the Hiruma/Clifford showdown...but somehow as neat as the chapter was, it felt like two chapters in one...
BTW: There's a random Kaiji cameo in the chapter :p (never read the manga or watched the anime but the style is distinctive)

It seems Don after seeing the yamato and panther antics had yamato framed and expelled.
Oh and does anyone else love the new playful banba? I mean I respected him from the moment he was introduced, but I'm really enjoying how he going out of his way to connect to the younger players.

So let's add this totally anti climatic beast who's going to oblitirate everything and everyone. Oh hes only 18, the President's son, world's strongest lineman, and had a full beard and was drinking since he was like 16? I would assume the flashback took place a few years back.
So ghey.
The rest of the Pentagram is great though.

Mr. Don isn't the greatest antagonist, yeah, but ES21 is no stranger to jackass guys who act way older than they are.
I mean remember when we first met Agon?
