I still waiting for the bell powerup. He's going to be so fast that you can't even hear the bells on his head ring. By that point he'll no longer be a shimigami but a two-handed NINJA.

Original but inconsistant with series. Ichigo when he fights he goes from one-handed to a two-handed fighting stance all the time. His power level doesn't jump to over 9000 when he switches stances and use two hands. It's lame.

Meh they're both similar with that SS/HM copying. Ichigo had a ridiculous jump in power during SS going from a nobody to Captain level and achieved Bankai in 3 days. Kenpachi got a ridiculous power increase out of nowhere. During SS he drawed basically with a VC level Ichigo. In that time Ichigo has achieved Bankai and gotten Hollow hybrid powers. Now Kenpachi can defeat a Espada a level higher than Ichigo went all out with. I could sorta believe him doing it with Bankai but a two-handled sword technique. Come the fuck on. That's as ridiculous as Konohamaru learning the Rasengan and hitting Pain with a kb feint.

Basically, Kenpachi wasn't using any kind of fighting style before. When he actually uses a focused martial art, he's essentially broken.

One explenation might be that Zaraki didn't want to use it because in his fight with Ichigo they were on equal level and he might have felt that using Kendo would have been unfair especially if you consider that he doesn't like to use it in the first place.
Another explenation might be that he simply learned it afterwards (or was it said that he learned it long ago? I can' remember). I mean, if Ichigo can go Bankai and then even learn to control his inner Hollow in such a short time why shouldn't Zaraki learn Kendo in the same time? He did say that he wants to get stronger and considering the person he is, he's practically THE captain I expect to be the first one to increase power quickly through training.
Though even if one of the above explenations might work, Bleach is still pretty inconsistent on that field.

Kenpachi likes to fight evenly but he also likes to win. It's like a DBZ fight were they one up each other after they shown they can match what the opponent has. If he had a secret style he would've used it in hopes that Ichigo would find more resolve to match it instead of crying he needs to learn his sword's name to get stronger. He never implied he had something else.
Remember this is the same writer who just did some plotkai bullshit making Kira a former 4th division member out of nowhere. Kubo had a idea where Nnotoria used many arms and multiple swords to get stronger. And a cool way to counter that wouldn't be the numbers of swords but a technique that requires one sword and makes it stronger.
Kubo: I have a cool idea, I know its inconsistant with the story so far. But it works with how I'm planning the fight to play out. So wth lets use it.
Wow Kenpachi's power up is even more ridiculous now that I reread the chapter. Kenpachi was fighting evenly with Nnotoria with his eyepatch on. When he took his eyepatch off it was to fight evenly with Nnotoria's resurrecion form. Kenpachi pulled out the two-handed sword technique after he was losing to Nnotoria when he kept on regenerating his arms. In comparasion Ichigo needed to be in Hollow Bankai mode to fight evenly with Grimmjow.

Not so much… Watsuki did the exact same thing in Rurouni Kenshin, back during the fight between Hiko Seijuurou and that giant guy.

A Shikai is the released form of entire Spirit Force/Soul Slayer combo, which means you have to get along with your Soul Slayer and seal your Spirit force inside it. And Zaraki said that he couldn't seal it which is why he practically is always in released form. In other words, he's permanentally Shikai. He even told Ichigo in his fight with him that his sword doesn't have a sealed form.

Kenpachi shikai would fall under the constant release type of shikai. But he's a paradox since one of the requirements of a shikai is to be able to communicate with your zanpaktou and be able to call out its name. A nameless Zanpaktou is known as a Asuechi I think.
Kenpachi can't communicate with his zanpaktou at all. Ichigo falls under the constant release type as well but he can communicate with his sword's spirit. Learning Bankai should be impossible for Kenpachi as he is now since to do it you're supposed to be able to manifest your sword's spirit in the real world like Ichigo and Renji did during the 3 day Bankai part of the mamga. So for Kenpachi to learn Bankai he not only has to learn his sword's name but be able to call it out in the real world so that he can train it to learn Bankai.

The question was if he used it after talking to Zangetsu. And I would like to know the same since my memory fails me with Bleach so I don't know if he talked to him during or prior to his fight with Renji.

Yeah he has was is known as a constant release Shikai. But he doesn't have a "true" release Shikai since he can't use any of his sword's special abilities which you can only achieve by communicating with your soul slayer.

It's my personal pet theory that Yachiru is actually Kenpachi's sword. His sword is always in release mode, he forgot its name, he named her, she's always adamantly by his side encouraging him, and she has as of yet not shown a zanpakutō of her own. Granted, she's incredibly young, but still. We've seen other zanpakuto and bankai forms be living creatures like monkeys or whatnot that can exist outside the sword, and Ichigo's sword is definatley a badass dude, so its not impossible that someone's sword could have the inner form of a little girl.
I'm 99% sure I'm wrong about this, but it would be a really cool twist if it was the case. Considering Kenpachi already is a bell wearing, eyepatch power draining, one handed showoff, it'll be, well, insane if he ever learns his sword's name and goes all out, and I think after going so long without knowing it, it actually being Yachiru would be pretty fitting.

If you mean she's his shikai effect, that's also probably not right either.

Yeah, but this is Bleach. It's already so inconsistent that nothing really matters anymore. So as long as it's something cool and twisty as robby's theory, I don't really care if it doesn't make sense at all.
But then again, this is Bleach. Cool twists like that won't happen.

Or, alternativley, Kenpachi is so uber, he's not only at shikai all the time, he's at materialization all the time, without even realizing it. And so badass is he, his weapon has a weapon.
The man is above captain level without bankai and with the majority of his energy being drained by an eyepatch and using only one hand, after all, its not impossible that hes so crazy powerful, that his weapon has a weapon.

I came up with that theory years ago, and I still like it. Even if its 99% likely wrong. (Even more so wrong if Yachiru has shown off a weapon of her own since then. But has she actually used her weapon, or does she just carry one around?) I haven't actually read or watched the series since the middle? of the second rescue arc to go after Orihime, it was too straight up a repeat of the overlong Soul Society arc for me, I figured I'd wait for the series to end and then get through it all in one go, though I still skim the discussion from time to time.
And even if its not the girl herself, sword's name could STILL be Yachiru since its a name he picked. However, I am totally willing to go along with it if the sword's name is BATMAN.

Kubo said in an interview he'd reveal Yachiru's namesake… eventually, and that it was someone Kenpachi admired.
Not now, probably during the King's Arc (Unless they go to Hell next for some reason). Not much Kenpachi can do during the Winter War considering there's only Cannon Fodder Yammi, Child-like Wonderweiss, and Cockroach-Boy Uliquorra (Which will probably start with Ichigo and end with Unohana) left to fight in Hueco Mundo.
