This is odd… I mean about the no-fillers thing. Though, think about it this way, if they just keep doing "one episode = one chapter" forever, they're never gonna catch up anyway, so it would be no problem at all...
Considering that OP chapters are full of text and happenings in just 19 pages, unlike other series (Ichigo, Ulquiorra, I'm looking at you), this kind of approach might just work, especially in Sabaody and the upcoming arcs which are packed with stuff.

I was thinking about the whole movie 10 canon business and I came up with an highly unlikely theory, but you never know what may happen, so I'll share it anyway… what if they are catching up to the manga on purpose? I mean, if the movie is canon, it will be so for anime and manga, that would signify that both of them must be at the same point when it airs, which coincidentially should be right before the crew enters the New World (or right before Fishmans Island). Maybe then the anime would restart after the movie with a new name (see Dragon Ball and Naruto) and the manga would begin its second half.
