This is kinda long…
[hide]
Dream:
I start on a long ship at sea, similar to a Viking ship but more grand. I'm aboard with a group of warriors and I am the new recruit. The crew get along great, they are laughing and joking, we all are having a good time. I guess we were on some kind of quest to recover some items/artifacts and before long we are suiting up as land is in the distance. My only weapon is a thin spear which pretty much looked like an arrow but longer. I now notice that there are two other ships that are with us as we all make our way to a beach to dock. Only our group of warriors get out to explore this place and we make our way inland. I remember it being much like a forest and after walking a bit we come upon a 1 story structure that looks like an ancient garage of sorts with a metal plated door. About 25 feet in front of this is a small clear pool. I am tasked with opening the door and proceed to slowly lift the door up. After just getting it open a few feet I see a dark humanoid creature inside, its intent becoming clear very quickly as it lets out a shriek. I drop the door and begin to climb to the roof to get a better view as more creatures start coming out from all sides. The warriors band together and start attacking the creatures. At this time, a strange creature with the body of a hippo and the head like a rhino is coming after me on the roof. I leap onto the back of the creature and stab my skinny spear into it causing it to rampage around. I use the creature to ram into the other beings and they are soon defeated. I hop off the hippo/rhino and the warriors and I celebrate for a moment until a crazy looking older woman comes running at us and seemingly casting a spell. I run towards her and stab her with the spear before she can finish and she drops dead. The items we are looking for are in the bottom of the pool and as the new guy I am tasked with recovering them. I dive in, the pool is maybe 15ft deep, and see three jewels and another two strange objects. I grab them all and pass them to the warriors. They go ahead of me back to the ships and I dive back into the pool to look around. After a short time I get out and notice a large symbol on the ground. I don't know what it is except I feel fear and I know we have made a huge mistake, I have just killed the mother of a powerful Lord. I run back to the beaches to warn the crew that we must leave right away but I am too late. At the beach a Dark figure is standing on the beach with a small group of soldiers. He has created a massive storm and is yelling "I shall never forgive this, you will suffer at the hands of Lord of Destruction" I run to my ship and try to help the crew get out to sea as the other ships next to us has already been destroyed. We manage to escape and upon returning home I am tasked with taking the jewels and items to the castle. About this time I come across a sword by chance that two of the items fit into, the sword glows a light blue after I place the items in it, forming a winged hilt. As soon as that happens an agent of destruction appears in front of me and attacks. He is able to cut me once before I strike him down. The sword glows again and my wound is healed. I rush into the castle passing many trophy cases with various collected weapons and make my way to an ancient archive were wise men/women study old texts. When I arrive on of the wise men is bleeding to death and has just enough time to tell me that I must take a book with me from the archive. He dies as I enter the small marble chamber. Inside there are many books scattered around and long thin blades used to open small side doors on the walls. One such door leads to another room and the book I need is in there. I grab the book and turn around to leave but someone enters the archive and knows I'm in there. I hurry to get out and see a wise woman, though now corrupted, trying to seal myself and her in the room. She picks up the blades on the ground and starts throwing them at me and I return the favor. I wound her enough for me to make an escape. I now know I must leave the kingdom as the Lord will never stop hunting me. On my way out I climb to the top of one of the trophy weapon displays and grab a dagger. I unsheathe it only to find another sheath then another then another. When I finally get to the dagger it is wooden with symbols burned onto the blade part. The king comes out and sees the dagger in my hand. His eyes open wide showing me that the dagger is very powerful. He knows what I'm doing, understands and yells to me "Son, you must learn the language of Keuth, study it, when you read the book you must picture a man chained up. It is more powerful then you can imagine,be careful" and with that I turn my back run from the castle at full speed.
Fun stuff to say the least.[/hide]

@RobbyBevard:
Why? Why ? Why ? Why ?
Classic Robby.
If they release a new Dark Stalkers any bets on the extra version name(cause you know it would happen)? Maybe Omni Dark Stalkers? or F-U you'll still Buy it Dark Stalkers?
I'm thinking Supreme Dark Stalkers Enchilada. -
RE: General Prototype Discussion
Dam, I loved the game and had no trouble with the controls or difficulty. I could flow through it well and finished the game on normal and hard. I enjoyed the extra story in the form of the Web of Intrigue, really added a layer of depth for those who were interested. I would consider the game a "prototype" in itself with the freedom they gave you to run around, the powers and the way combat could string together so well if you knew how to, with that said there were of course a few little gripes I had with it that I hope have been fixed in the second one.
Even though I like the first, I'm not digging the main character of the second(thought it would have been Alex again) and the story bits I've gotten aren't interesting to me atm but we'll see in time as more is released. -
RE: The Walking Dead (AMC series)
! I guess you haven't read the comics? :) In any case, you might be pleasantly surprised.
I haven't read the comics but I'm aware that the series is loosely based on them(friend of mine told me some of the changes). Thanks for the bit of info, I'll be looking forward to good news.

RE: The Walking Dead (AMC series)
Only thing I really want from this season is for them to ditch the 5/6 of show time spent on useless unengaging drama and more time on the main reason I started watching the show, zombie conflict. Also fingers crossed for dudes wife dying, I know it won't happen though, I just find her to be the most annoying character.

RE: Capcom Thread - A Giant Woman
but I really haven't had high expectations of Capcom for a LOOOONG time now.
Despite it's amazing gameplay…. RE4 IMO was the beginning of the nosedive the series plot was taking. (if you don't want to count Zero). Save the president's daughter? Umbrella bankrupt? Awesome twists guys.....Same here, Capcom has been making very poor choices for awhile now so there was no surprise to hear the most recent news. I think stuff like this shows to a degree a broader problem growing in the gaming industry. It seems like people with no history of storytelling or knowledge of a series are being hired to write for companies as evident to me in games like RE5 and Metroid:Other M, you can find better material in fan-fiction. Companies are destroying there own games and I worry for the future of gaming as a whole.

RE: Toriko
Really digging the past few chapters, pace has been good for me and I like how Sunny got himself an Ancient pet, makes me wonder if Zebra will pick one up too cause you know his would be bad-ass. Only goofy thing is everyone wanting Komatsu's anus.

RE: Mortal Kombat 9
Tournament mode probably lets you and another person pick a character and then fills in the rest of the tournament roster with computer characters.
I tried it out this morning and that's not the case, seemingly nothing was different in the match so I'm wondering if there are certain match options that need to be filled or what not.
-
RE: Mortal Kombat 9
I've been searching the net but I'm unable to find an answer to this question-What does Tournament Mode(the Vs screen code) do exactly?
I just learned that three other buddies picked this up so we're going to try to have a MK9 fight night.
Also-[hide]And this I just saw a few days ago-Babalities on Goro,Kintaro and Shao Kahn(from Game Faqs)
In order to use your Babality on Goro or Kintaro, you must be playing on Medium difficulty or higher and use you Babality on Shang Tsung, you must also have not lost a round, after you beat Goro or Kintaro you will automaticly use your Babality on them if you met the requirements. In order to use it on Shao Kahn, you must have used a Babality on everybody, including Goro or Kintaro.[/hide]

RE: Mortal Kombat 9
I'll watch it later today.
I don't really know why I watch them, but it's pretty fun.
SKARLETT FOOTAGE (unofficial and will probably be removed):
Intro and X-Ray:!
The videos will be deleted soon, so watch them now. If you missed them:! Intro: She spawns from a puddle of blood. SERIOUSLY. Think Sub-Zero's intro, but with blood. She doesn't say anything though.
X-Ray: A palm strike straight to the nose (which would usually pierce and damaage the brain), followed by a heel to the nose.
Fatality: Apparently, she had one posted, but it was removed. From what I'm hearing, it's blood related and it was awesome.
As bad as I feel about these leaks….
I NEED her in this game now. She looks amazing. She actually moves like a ninja, unlike many of the ninjas in this game. Thanks for the videos and I agree, I like the way she moves so far and I like the idea of a more ninja like female(now if we could just get a cyber-female). Her X-ray looks alright, not sure if it's a little unfinished like her babality. I really want to see more footage of her and some of the other DLC characters.
As for MK legacy, I'm mainly watching them because I'm in the MK mood atm.I'm starting to get really board with this series, it sounded super interesting when it was Rebirth, but if its going to be a retelling a similar story to the game and not have anything really new to offer, I'm not seeing the point.
One of the main reasons behind it was to help hype the game I think. They are starting off pretty slow so I hope this will all be leading up to something more interesting. It does seem like they have changed direction of the series from the original trailer(making Baraka more like he is in the game) but we'll see what they do with Reptile and Scorpion(if it'll be like the trailer or revamped). I wish they would get a different Shao Kahn, the guy does not look a ruthless conqueror but rather a bit goofy.

RE: Mass Effect 3
Yea, I guess I had a really different idea of what he was going to look like, fond memories of doing those bad-ass missions for him in ME1 shaped his appearance in my mind , I was expecting him to more gritty or unique. His awesome attitude is still intact at least.

RE: Adventure Time!
I think the Lich King episodes may have been the victim of being over-hyped. It was good, but I can't say it was my favorite episode or anything. The fight was actually kind of underwhelming.
@Tokoro:
I did like it but I guess I sort of expected more of it too.
The two-part special was alright. It was indeed over-hyped.
Ice King is still annoying as hell.I feel the same way. At the end I felt like I had just watched a regular episode but a little empty. The timing of things seemed outta place and the fight with the Lich was kinda funny but mostly mediocre except Finn ripping the top half of his skull off. The Ice King was kinda annoying and his role in the story seemed tacked on. It wasn't super awful but it's wasn't great either.

RE: Mortal Kombat 9
I miss my N-Word in here.
Episode 4 of Mortal Kombat Legacy is out, not totally bad but Shao Kahn looks HORRIBLE. Baraka has his old design instead of the Mad Doctor from the early trailer.

RE: Mass Effect 3
Arrival is okay but left a lot to be desired. I enjoyed the fact that you were solo for the whole mission and it had some good action but the story wasn't that good and for this to have such an effect on 3 they really messed up by taking the decision part away from you. Also, meeting Admiral Hackett was a little underwhelming.
LotSB was really fun though a few story parts seemed lacking. The final area was more fun with my Vanguard using Slam, when enemies get lifted they are carried off by the winds and struck by lightning. -
RE: Assin' Around…
Glad to see your work again, great as always Steve, I really like Franky's expression in the second drawing.

RE: General Video Game Discussion
It's looks interesting, I had wondered when someone was going to try to do more with the RE styled controls, the story seems generic at first glance but a lot can happen in a year. Or not.
-
RE: Mass Effect 3
You're right about getting a better feel and I know some of the minor choices can't be picked in the comic, I replayed ME1 before the release of part 2 but when I was finished with ME2 and thought of another guy, I didn't have the will to go back through ME1 for the custom choices, I just wanted the lazy option.
I was thinking about the Moon mission the other day and would love to see some of that in ME3. I didn't enjoy the vehicle stuff in ME2 so I hope they will bring back exploration. -
RE: Mass Effect 3
You know, I do not remember the point, something to do with research about Thresher Maws and experimenting on the soldiers.
Maybe trying to find ways to combat them better:unsure:It'd be nice to see more of them in ME3 or some other large creatures. The first time you went driving to see some spot on a planet and one popped out, good times.
-
RE: Mass Effect 3
Don't see how they drop the ball with the comic if the comic served for the ps3 users as ME1 since it wasn't release on that console.
Dropped the ball as in they should have had a comic for 360 users since not everyone played the first or wanted to buy and play through ME1 for all the choices.
I have two characters in ME2 and would like to start a third one for some different story choices in 3 but I really don't want to re-play all through 1 again, a comic for quick choices would have been a nice option.
@Green_vs_Red:Well when you remember the fact that Cerberus went around doing bad things to the military you can't blame either of them for being dicks to Shepard for working with Cerberus even Anderson wasn't to fond of the idea of Shepard working with them.
I agree to an extent, it's just that I still felt that they should have had a little more trust in Shepard(depending on his path) with all they went through together.Almost no one in Shepard's crew from ME2 like Cerberus but they still follow Shepard(Tali,Garrus) because they respect him even if they don't respect Cerberus.
I will say that when ME2 came out I was very surprised at Cerberus being shown in a positive light considering all the super screwed up shit they did in ME1.
Thresher Maw blood in the veins… -
RE: Mass Effect 3
I always felt Ashely was the weakest character in ME 1 & 2, which is why I'm glad I killed her in the first one(paragon) and dumped her by hooking up with another in ME 2(Renegade). The dialogue for both Ashley and Kaiden in ME 2 made them out to be assholes and didn't seem like they wanted to help Shepard out again regardless of your chosen path.
I also would like to see the return of Thane and Samara/Morinth, both were interesting characters and did well in combat but I wonder if Thane's condition will be a factor in his return. No multiplayer…. wonderful choice Bioware, wonderful!
I'm happy about that too, I think I saw something about the ME games after this may have multi-player/co-op.
-
RE: Mass Effect 3
And Tali isn't even there as starting member? Tali better be there so as Wrex as a crew member.
I'm hoping that even if they don't start you off with them we'll have Tali and Wrex as teammates at some point. Glad to see Garrus's name there but they better have Legion in your squad too, he was one of my top favorite new characters. I won't really mind if Mordin isn't in the team, he was a very interesting character to talk to and had a great side story but I almost never used him in combat.
Wait, if the prologue is based around the aftermath of your actions in the Arrival DLC, what would happen for the people who didn't download Arrival? And why would Cerberus be trying to kill you if
! you choose the Renegade ending and give them the Collector's base?
I think the mentioned comic will let you pick what action was done in Arrival. I'm really happy they decided to put the comic, they dropped the ball on that for 360 users when it came out for PS3.
As for why Cerberus wants you dead! Even though you gave Cerberus the base in the Renegade ending, Shepard seemed to imply that he was severing ties with Cerberus
All the mentioned concepts seem promising except the start with the trial, I feel that's a little weak. I mainly want to see the what impact your decisions about the Geth and the Rachni have.
I'm still worried about how fast it's coming out but it's nice to see some good ideas. -
RE: Twisted metal (PS3)…..Sweet tooth is Back!
I think I remember hearing about this a bit ago, something about multi-player and a Sweet Tooth gang of clowns..?
The trailer looked descent though I wanted to see a little more about the other characters but seeing Grim(my favorite) will do.
Looked like Grim is more of a Witch Doctor this time.
Shame I don't own a PS3 but I'm sure one of my buddies with one may pick it up or at least rent it.
I'll have to keep my eye out for more info. -
RE: GANTZ
! Chapter was okay, mainly cause the last one was so bad. The group peeing together was funny, I guess to show that they have bonded already? I'm with Fire fist Ace in that this "peace" and the gantz gang being deemed terrorists was not surprising. It's another one of those "people are so dumb to believe anything" moments. A few chapters ago the aliens were eating people and now they're making peace as long as they live on the ship? The whole thing is too obvious. Besides being given another direction of story…Tae...I can't make a big enough groan sound everytime I see her wasting panel space, maybe one of the kids will trip and fall on her...

RE: General Video Game Discussion
The whole concept behind Homefront seemed pretty dumb anyway.
I rented Homefront and two hours later I returned it, something I almost never do. The game suffered so many flaws like worthless team mates who get in your way and do nothing to help in a gun fight, same guns as most other games of the same type with no feeling to them and poor sound effects, no new or re-worked game mechanics of interest,in game marketing (one battle makes it so you see a Tiger.Com sign the whole time),etc.
The game felt like it was over-hyped and rushed to bank off the CoD trend. -
RE: What are you Playing?
Rented The Saboteur and have been enjoying it. It has the sandbox tediousness to it but the thing that has stood out is the backdrop, Nazi occupied France. The way they color the sections of the city, black and white for Nazi strong places and color for resistance heavy areas is a nice artistic touch that seems to fit well in the theme. Characters are likeable and humorous most of the time, playing out the stereotypes of the Irish,French and English without too much annoyance.
It's short but a good rental. -

RE: Have you ever done `it`?
@Holy:
I've had that immobile sensation frequently. One wonderful dream placed it within the context of a nightmare for double the terror.
Fuck my subconscious.
I have nightmares frequently and have experienced this, times like that I'm glad I know how to wake myself up though it can take a few attempts.
All I know is I really dislike the dreams where i'm completely aware i'm dreaming but cannot do anything for the life of me. Running, fighting, climbing, and swimming are all impossible tasks and it feels like i'm fighting against the air itself.
Those are some of the worst, knowing and not having control. No matter how much training you have it still happens, the reaches of the mind never fully grasped. I would again site being able to wake yourself up as a way to help, restart, try again.
-
RE: Have you ever done `it`?
@Mrs.:
I heard from a friend, who managed to have her first lucid dream a few days ago, that you have to do "reality checks" by day, make a habit out of it, and when you do these in your dream you'll notice something isn't right and discover you're dreaming.
Reality checks are a good way to start but they can also be faulty. Your brain can ignore those Checks depending on how intense the dream is. One thing you can add on top of Checks is to talk to yourself before you dream, reminding yourself you're about to go to sleep and keep in mind what you may want to try. The more successful you are at becoming aware in a dream the easier it gets to make it happen to the point where you may not need a Check.
Another thing to practice is how to wake yourself up.
And I might have discovered a way to "summon" these dreams, although I think this method only works for me.
By all means share, you may be surprised.
-
RE: Have you ever done `it`?
^ Hell yeah man, good luck. I've never kept a journal but I know I should, I remember most of my important dreams where i did something new or exciting though a few have slipped in between the cracks of my memory. As of late I haven't had many lucid dreams, too much going on for me to concentrate on it.
Keep us updated on your progress and methods and if you have any questions I'd be more then happy to help if I can.

RE: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Third person looks promising this time. The models seem to mesh with environment, rather than float on it. Hopefully the final game reveals this to be true. There's a chance it may end up cheaping out.
It would be nice this time around to get better 3rd person interaction though I would still play most the game in 1st but those animations for stealth attacks look like they will be better in 3rd.
The game is looking so very nice with just those beautiful landscapes, I think I'll really enjoy sightseeing.
After seeing the Dragon Shout concept, I'll welcome that with open arms.
So many other things looked very interesting but at the same time I think back to some of the early details and what they will be like, hoping they don't cheapen others parts.
The next thing I'd like to know is how big it will be(land wise), fingers crossed for it being larger then Oblivion. -
RE: GANTZ
Enjoyed the new chapter…
! because they actually gave us some answers for once. The gathered team seems like it has some good potential, though this is thinly based on their will to help and design. It was really cool to see Kato's love interest come back but the moment Kato asked "Who brought you back?" was one of the stupidest lines in past chapters, I mean, the guy in front of him just said before hand "I KEPT MY PROMISE!", so Kato remembers the guy but not the promise he made?…I guess there has to be at least one really Dumb Human moment or else it's not GANTZ.
Speaking of dumb, another few wasted panels of Tae hugging all over the sick kid, didn't really think the kid was "at his coolest" just by telling her how to get out of the bowl considering he tried to rape her just a few chapters back. He would earn coolest dude ever if he just killed Tae off.
! With Gantz unable to heal and bring back people, I think this elevates the level of tension making it more like the earlier chapters when you wondered who would survive, hope it turns out well though I'm not holding my breath. -
RE: Oregon Trail and Carmen Sandiego coming to Facebook!
Used to love playing both games but I wonder if FB will charge for certain aspects or make it another game that requires you to have friends playing it to get ahead. Hope this isn't the case since that would really hamper the classic fun.
If it's like the good versions many of us grew up with, I'll be getting down for sure. -
RE: Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles
Not in a pack unfortunately. Each individually.
That's what is stopping me from getting them, too much nickel and diming for just a few characters and two stages. I enjoy the game with a friend but with others it's just a grind fest of the fittest, sucks all the fun out. If they offer a package at a reduced price, I'll bite.

RE: Toriko
The Warden was a funny surprise, other then that it's almost just like Impel Down.
Lol at "Rick" being so addicted to weed that he'll suffer forever, maybe Shimabukuro is confusing that with heroin, but it's hilarious that pot exists in Toriko, you know they have some awesome dishes with it.
Can't wait til they get to Zebra, loving his conversations with Toriko along the way. -
RE: Seth Rogen is the Green Hornet
The best part of the movie was the car….that was a sweet ass car.
I thought it was hilarious how Cameron Diaz was supposed to be the hot chick. She's too old to pull that off anymore, they should have used that girl Britt Reid screwed in the beginning of the movie.100% agree,Cameron looked so bad, she did not fit the role of "hot" chick at all.
The car was one of the best parts, except the bean bags were a little silly but okay.
Seth was horrible, he just played himself, sure i had a brief laugh or two but most of the time it was annoying. I enjoyed Kato's part way more and liked the few Bruce Lee references they showed.
I liked the style they used for the first conflict with Seth Hornet and Kato fighting that small gang(the car stretching into more and such), it's a shame they didn't continue use it more, the terminator vision throughout was funny.
The gangsta's paradise joke was about a decade and a half late to be funny for me.
The plot seemed to only get real focus at the end then made the rest of the story feel rushed.

RE: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
but Peter Molyneux really over hypes the Fable series.
Absolutely true. Dude has over hyped his series every game and though I enjoyed the first I feel the series has degraded due to stream-lining and hype.
Played the second, beat it and actually traded it in(which I almost never do) and never even bother with the third. That's what worries me a little, this trend of stream-lining games like Marvel Alliance 2 and Mass Effect 2, granted I as well as many others enjoyed the changes to ME but at the same time it still felt a little gutted.
They've already cut out a few things in Skyrim that have me worried (Mysticism) but at the same time they are adding in a few good ideas, it's a worry that has to be put on the back burner until more info comes out. -
RE: Mythological creatures you believe exist
@THE:
I believe that
ChrissieSea X Zephos is canon. That's more believable.
I'd like to believe that mythological creatures exist of some plane of existence that we draw inspiration from or just our primitive exaggeration from the past seeing things we didn't understand.
-
RE: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
It's great they are doing away with the class system, as custom class usually overshadows it.
Always made my own custom-class, the others never fully had what I wanted. I enjoyed being able to name it too, just another little but greatly appreciated detail that I hope that carries over.
I like the ideas they have about the new engine but it's still something I need to see to figure what's hype and what's the real deal.
Mentioning Fallout there is silly, I know they want to remind new people that they did that game but Fallout 3 and New Vegas are just a drop in the bucket compared to TES.
I'm waiting to hear someone say "This game is just like Fallout:getlost:, except with swords and spells.",lol.
