I wanted toast in the middle of taking a shower, and, well, when I got the toaster…
I slipped and hit my head. No toast for me.
noswords: Refer to post #61, please.
Sure thing. I wanted cop to be one of the roles because of how it benefits the town, with the only possible downside being a godfather getting investigated. But since we know that about the possibility of a godfather, the fact that there may not even be a godfather, plus the odds of them actually getting investigated, makes it very unlikely that the mafia could seriously benefit from the role.
As for random, my initial thoughts were it would just keep things hidden from the mafia, since they also could have a voice in our vote and lean things toward what would be best for them. Like voting for watcher if they had picked ninja, for example. And even if the mafia lied about having one of the roles to cause confusion, with a cop and other actual power townie around I thought it wouldn't be too difficult to suss out who was telling the truth.
And to be 100% honest, I have no excuse for not getting on to vote before the day ended, that was completely my fault for losing track of time.

RE: Neighborhood Watch (Name Subject to Change) - A Mafia Game
Even without investigating her, I believe that Star is telling the truth about her role, if not her alinement. It seems way too intricate and detailed to be making up out of nowhere, especially for a new player.
Sorry No Swords, I had to reveal it, as this is very important stuff that might help us determine who the last mafia is.
No problem, being more honest now will help with scum hunting. It may have been a little selfish of me to bring up keeping roles a secret just so I could have a chance to prove I'm telling the truth.
Also, this might be a crazy idea, but hear me out:
After checking the mafia wiki, it says that FBI agents usually just get a guilty reading on serial killers and no one else. And of all the players still alive, basically all of us agree that myself, Star, and Sky are the most suspicious. If we lynched one of us today, and then another of the three or Kitsune died at night, then Jabber is the safest person on the final day, since we've all seen him as getting an accurate read on Kmo. But thinking about this differently, all he would need to be "confirmed" as an FBI agent would be the knowledge that Kmo is a serial killer.
So what if Jabber is actually a mafia role cop, or similar equivalent, and just used the knowledge he gained from checking Kmo night 1?
Looking back at day 2, the momentum for lynching was almost completely on Huschel under Jabber brought up his report. It's not like it was super risky for Jabber to do it, since he would be validated when Kmo died if he knew his role. Since then, none of us have doubted or investigated Jabber. I haven't done it, Kitsune hasn't done it, heck, it Sky is telling the truth, then she was protecting Jabber both nights until now, in a way. No one here has ever double checked or suspected anything in regards to Jabber after his claim.
And while Jabber did mention the idea of Shuhan shooting Huschel, he wasn't the first one to bring it up; Sky was. But it still let Huschel have a night action he very, very likely would not have been permitted otherwise. Like, say, using the gun he stole at least once.
Plus, nobody's claimed to have any sort of protective role or used a protective item, yet everyone lived through night one. And if the mafia really do each have a night power, like Jabber just brought up, then it's very possible we've had a mafia thief/mafia role cop combo, who needed items to kill. If they decided to both target Kmo night 1, they could have then acted based on that information in addition Kitsune's report. Heck, if this is the case, then its possible Huschel was the role cop and Jabber is the thief, and they privately exchanged information after Huschel was exposed so Jabber could both get suspicion off of himself and keep the gun he stole.
-
RE: Neighborhood Watch (Name Subject to Change) - A Mafia Game
Color me skeptical. I think we can all agree Kitsune is Town at this point, though the specifics of his role might suggest sanity or insanity once he shows up. Given my result on kmo yesterday, it's also likely that I'm sane too, though perhaps limited in some other way. And I have to say, you implied yesterday that your role implied one of us was insane. I don't see how a Role Cop would do that, and with two investigative roles it feels a bit redundant honestly.
I had expressed pervious concerns about you and Kitsune both being mafia and lying to us, along with the possibility of being at mylo if Kmo wasn't mafia and someone other than Huschel died at night. Going by what we knew yesterday before our now exposed mafioso hammered, if you and Kitsune were scum, or one of you was partnered with Star/Sky, all we'd be at mylo right now, and checking if Kisune was insane would have lost us the game.
If Huschel was telling the truth about his role, then Shuhan(?)'s attempt to kill him would have failed, but we wouldn't know if Kitsune was insane or lying. I wanted to confirm for myself, as much as a role cop is able, that at least one of you is town.
The Town's in a fantastic position currently and seems to have had a strong setup overall. A Role Cop would mean we're loaded with strong abilities and I can't help but notice that you've picked two pretty safe results. Certainly gets me suspicious.
If the others agree to it, we can have Star or Sky keep one their role a secret, then I'll investigate them tonight and report on what the results are. If I'm lying, then everyone else could lynch me.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
@Sky:
No swords, could you quote to where you alluded to this before?
At the top of page 7 is what Jabber is referring to right now, since my thinking from back then was that the most likely situation was that one of them was a sane cop, the other was insane/lying, and I'd need to work with the sane one since our powers complemented each other.
I also dropped a hint at the start of the game in flavor text that I had the power to figure out roles:
@No:
Glad to see everyone's been active today, more discussion is always a good thing. And we can figure to work together to improve our shared humble abode! Who does what to fix up our living conditions, and such. Team work makes the dream work, after all.
I am a Watcher. I can target someone and determine who visited them during the night. The first night, I watched Jabberwok and saw Shuhan visit them. The second night, I watched Jabberwok again (since I thought they were a confirmed cop) but no one visited them last night.
I did not start out with any items, nor have I received any.
Is there anyone who can back this up in any way? Because I have to admit it is a tad bit suspicious if it's impossible to verify by another person. Except by a role cop, right after the role cop admitted to investigating two completely different people, neither of which were your targets.
Also, I didn't start with or receive any items.
-
RE: Neighborhood Watch (Name Subject to Change) - A Mafia Game
RIP Shuhan. At least it looks like he was able to take one of the mafia down with him.
What's slightly worrying to me is that we don't know what Huschel's role was. He was definitely lying about being an Artificer, since his vest would have protected him otherwise, but we don't know if he was a thief or not, so it remains a mystery what happened to Kmo's gun. Unless he never had a gun and could kill with abilities, but given the nature of the set up, I think he really did start with a gun as his item to fulfill his role, and the mafia stole it. If Huschel was the thief, then its possible he and Shuhan shot each other. If he wasn't, though, then we still have a thief to find.
Also, I alluded to this before when I questioned Jabber and KI, but I'm going to fully claim now. I am a Town Role Cop. I can see what someone's role is, but not their alignment. Night 1, I investigated Shuhan and saw that he was indeed a thief, but not whether he was a town or mafia thief. Last night I investigated KI, and saw that they were a cop, with no indication of being insane or anything. Like with Shuhan, there was zero mention of town or mafia, but I find it very unlikely that there would be a maifa cop, even with a serial killer among us, so I'm fairly certain that KI is town.

I do not have such an ability or item.
Well, I don't have any ability that has to do with lockpicking, not at all.
Barring any serious new arguments, I'm convinced Kmo is the most suspicious of us right now. Sorry if you really do have some kind of special lockpick, Kmo, but:

Yeah, I did not get a PM, I thought everyone was doing flavor text too, so I was joining in! I'm so sorry for being confusing! (Still a newbie but learning!) So, let's just say a ghost broke in and it has nothing to do with what's going on!
You're doing great as a first timer. It just a small misunderstanding due to wording, don't worry about it.
-
RE: Neighborhood Watch (Name Subject to Change) - A Mafia Game
I would be willing to support a lynch on Kmo, but only after hearing from Sky and Star. They're the only two who haven't chimed in on the lockpick discussion, iirc.
And as for my location, I'm currently home from college and in the Southern United States. It's getting pretty hot, with bursts of rain and there. So it's not too welcome during the day, but does make for good walking weather at night.
-
RE: Neighborhood Watch (Name Subject to Change) - A Mafia Game
Just alignment for me, if you can call it that.
Thanks for clearing that up. Assuming it's the same for KI, then I have reason to believe that one of you is insane, if not outright mafia, beyond just speculation. Though I'd like to wait one more night before revealing why to make sure I'm not jumping at shadows.
I'm still on the fence between Huschel and Kmo. On one hand, an Artificer that role does seem somewhat strong for this set up, and lying about having a lockpick would make sense if he is mafia. But I'm not sure why he would claim nothing was stolen from him when that's so easy to disprove, especially after multiple people have come forward as thieves.
Snip
Haven't heard from you yet. Got anything to say?
And on the other hand -
Okay, truth be told, I think that the one who stole from me was you, actually. I too had a Gun, which I could use to kill or give to someone else. I could also steal, which is what I did. So, yeah, pretty bad that Mafia got it now. I am not sure who the other mafia is though. From my POV, the ones who are NOT mafia are in decreasing likelihood…
So, I am pretty sure now that whoever stole from me is the second mafia (or if it was indeed Huschel, then the first Mafia -.-) Stealing a gun and not admitting to it is pretty much confirmation in my books.
Also, if anyone likes proof, you know me, I always try to leave breadcrumbs. Here is my second post of the game...
If Kmo is telling the truth, then we need to find whoever has that gun, and our mystery thief is 200% guilty. If he's mafia and lying though…then there's a chance he still has the gun, chose not to kill last night, and will now start killing to make this nonexistent 3rd thief appear to be the culprit, putting all of us on a wild goose chase. Coming forward about the gun makes me trust him a little more, but not enough to vote for Huschel yet.
Also, just to think about the absolute worst case scenario here: What if Jabber and KI is our scum pairing, and they're both intentionally lying? It would be a super reckless strategy, but in that case, one of them now has Kmo's gun, and if we just go ahead and lynch Kmo or Huschel while they shoot someone tonight? That's two townies down, and if we lynch the other suspect to see if one of them is an insane cop they can use the gun again, which would end the game. This would only be an issue, though, if someone dies tonight after the lynch and whoever we voted for doesn't flip mafia.
At the completely oppose end of the spectrum is if KI and Jabber are both sane, honest townies who got super lucky and Kmo and Huschel are both guilty, with all their arguing so far an act to try to salvage the situation. But again, I highly, HIGHLY doubt KI and Jabber are both sane cops, and not just for statistical reasons.

RE: Neighborhood Watch (Name Subject to Change) - A Mafia Game
Ok, wow, holy shit this is a lot to take in. Sorry for joining a little late this day but I've been trying to read through all the day's occurrences and think about what's going on. And just to make things clear on my end, I did not steal anything last night, nor did anyone try to steal from me.
So, just to summarize all the claims for now:
- KI got a guilty read on Huschel
-Jabber got a guilty read on Kmo
-Jabber's item was stolen by Shuhan, who has claimed as a thief
-Kmo's item was stolen by an unknown thief
-Kmo has claimed as a thief who stole a lockpick from Huschel last night
- Huschel has claimed as an Artificer
Is that all correct?
It seems unlikely that there would be three thieves in this set up unless one of them was mafia aliened.
@Kitsune Inferno and Jabberwok: Did either of you learn anything about roles, or just alignment?
@Huschel: Who seems most suspicious to you at the moment?
@kmohyudin: You said you don't think that Huschel is the third thief. In that case, who do you think is? And does it seem likely in your opinion that they would be with the mafia? How worried should we be if your item is in the mafia's hands?
Right now, if Huschel isn't lying about his role and Kmo isn't lying about being robbed last night, then I'm thinking the unclaimed thief would be with the mafia, since right now someone is keeping quiet about having what sounds like a really good item. And their partner is Kmo/Huschel, one of whom we lynch today to be on the safe side.
-
RE: Neighborhood Watch (Name Subject to Change) - A Mafia Game
I also think lylo on day three is the better option. While stuff like three mafias with a stacked town or one really strong mafia could be possible, two mafias seems way more likely and balanced for this set up, and we don't have a ton to go off of. Plus, after the first night, we might learn enough to have a much better idea of who's scum.
Question for all, what is your opinion on voting out an inactive player?
I'd personally prefer not to unless they're 100% inactive. This is a relatively small game, and offing someone likely to be town could easily tip the scales in the mafia's favor. Even someone who doesn't post too often can still read posts and join to lynch when there's a convincing argument.

Wait…your apartment came with a coffee maker? That two-bit weasel told me I had to buy my own! Bad pluming and cold showers are one thing, but messing with one's ability to produce coffee is crossing a line. I'm starting to see the appeal of joint ownership...

RE: Pokemon BDSP, Arceus, and other Spinoffs
Oh man, Pokemon Pearl was the first video game I ever played, so I'm super excited for the remakes. And this might just be the nostalgia talking, but I'm really glad they kept the top-down layout of the original games since what's stuck with me the most about gen 4 is just the ambience of exploring and traveling through Sinnoh. Trekking across routes 216 and 217, pushing your way through a blizzard, with that amazing soundtrack playing in the background, to finally reach Snowpoint City was one of the moments that made me fall in love with video games as a whole, and without major graphical overhauls or tons of development going into the environments I think this is the best way to preserve that feeling.
Also cautiously optimistic about Arecus. I haven't played the last few games, but all this has definitely reignited my interest in Pokemon.

RE: Fan the Hammer: A Mafia Game
I either wasn't a part of or don't remember this last game,
It was the one where somebody thought it would be fun to play mafia without any actual mafia.
I did actually have fun thoughThough after reading everyone's thoughts I can see I may have jumped the gun with trying to set up a reporting system, but I still think at least the hypo-cop set up would be beneficial once we have more information.
And I'll wait to hear more from Sky (and also Kitsune) before deciding if I'm going to lynch anyone.
-
RE: Fan the Hammer: A Mafia Game
Swordy, are you talking about hypo cop or something else? Hypo cop requires the assumption that everyone is "hypothetically" claiming cop and that they provide a report each day. This is to mask the true cop, who can start freely clearing people without having to claim, such that if they die we can see their report history. I think typically all hypo reports are townie because, especially in a small game like this, most cops would immediately come forward upon a guilty report.
Maybe I'm super rusty but I'm not quite sure what the point is of having everyone list only who they visited, and not just that but give two names, one being fake. Sounds awfully confusing.
I thought it could work where anyone with a special power could just mention who they "visited" during the night, so even if we lose a doctor or a jailer we can get some clues after they're gone. Townies without such powers could say random people to throw off the mafia. Though I'm admittedly not as experienced as most players here, so feel free to criticize if you think there are reasons why it wouldn't help us.
I also don't really understand No Swords' plan. What happens if some (or the majority) of us are boring townies who don't get to visit anyone? And for those who have something to claim, won't making one true and one false claim make things murkier by making everyone more suspicious?
My thinking for the two people thing was that if we each report on one person, who we supposedly used our power on, then the mafia could figure out if someone's a doctor if they failed to kill the person someone else said they visited, or figure out the jailer if they got jailed by a person who said they visited them. Also, it's how we did it the last game I was in. Though on second though, if most of us are giving fake reports anyway, that could make things murky enough for the mafia not to know who was truly responsible for what, so one report per person might be better and less confusing for sorting things out.
-
RE: Fan the Hammer: A Mafia Game
I'll take number 2 to go.
And to establish something for the town early on, how about we each say who we visited (used powers on) each night and report who that was the next day? And to keep things from getting too obvious about roles, we could each say two people we visited, with either the first or second being the true one for each report. It was helpful in the last game and would leave a paper trail if a powerful townie bit the dust, and even though most people and those lying mafiosos would be making it up, it'd still be an extra resource.
