RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
Doubt Benjamin would allow the soldier to get anywhere close, knowing he encountered Halkenburg and then losing communication with him.
But I wonder what was the suicide show for. Maybe to have someone witness that the soldier was still loyal to Benjamin and took his own life. I suppose that is enough, really.
I assumed it was to test how if the soul transferrs back on death and he had him suicide in public so that no they can't claim that halkenburg killed the bodygaurd.

RE: Chapter 922: Supreme Commander Kaido of the Animal Kingdom Pirates
Iirc when kinemon first cuts the smiley explosion at PH, the explosion still happens but everyone inside the explosion ended being fine. The reason I suggested Okiku as a potential candidate for saving them is because Kinemon tells her to go back so there's a chance she went back to the castle in time.
-
RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
Suicide bombing Benjamins He-Man Women Haters Club wasn't an option for the first test no?
I suppose the problem with that is that Benjamin's people could have nen abilities that incapacitate and interrogate him or whatever. In the world of nen your opponent most likely has an ability that just so happens to be the perfect counter to yours.

RE: Chapter 922: Supreme Commander Kaido of the Animal Kingdom Pirates
I'm guessing either shinobu did something, or Okiku can cut fire like kinemon

RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
I forgot does the winning prince actually go to the new world or do they get to go back to kakin?

RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
Luffy was completely unable to controll his rubber power so yeah, dont see the failure in vegapunks df yet
Iirc it was mostly a lack of fighting ability on luffy's part rather than any inability to use his power to turn into rubber. I think luffy's fruit was also completely uncontrolled unlike zoans where it applies without conscious attempt at applying it.

RE: Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)
For me personally straight up fight scenes aren't particularly that interesting, I much prefer the Garou or Saitama fight scenes. Even the S class hero battles are fine as long as it gives a decent view into the character and their morals etc. The best bit about speedy flash fight for me was the conversation between them of speedy killing those who sent assasins after him and the rest could have been packed into a much shorter fight and i'd be equally satisfied. Of course this is just my opinion and I know other people enjoy the fighting scenes(they do look amazing tbh) a lot. I'm fine with the slower pace and it's just a matter of personal taste so w/e.

RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
I don't think it was a Failure. It was Cesar's jealousy towards Vegapunk that made him say that it was IMO. From what we have seen it doesn't look like a failure at all.
I think it has the same flaw as smiles but severely reduced, it's hard to control. Momo can't change his forms even though even child chopper could swap between the forms fine. DF's are never really shown to be hard to use the base form as far as i remember.

RE: Theories That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread v.2
The person in fox mask thing is hiyori. No reason why except that it's one of the few shown characters in Wano that could fit the bill.

RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
Im one of the people who really like the involvement of kaido here at this point. It's ike when enel came down and wiped out a lot of the forces in Skypeia. Or when lucci and CP-9 wrecked zoro and luffy. Or when crocodile came in the desert and defeated luffy with ease. I think as long as next chapter kaido does something significant to show off his strength of why he's a yonkou it would make him feel more present in the arc. It would be kind of disappointing if all he does is something like offscreen shutenmaru and tell jack to find the SH's though.
-
RE: Chapter 921: Shutenmaru
Im going with the "kaido is a dragon not dragon zoan user" theory.
1. They keep specifically not calling kaido a human/person which they never did for any other zoan user.
2. It's quite likely that dragons existed in the OP world at some point considering ryuma and vegapunk trying to create artificial dragons(and them specifically being referred to as artificial dragons)
3. Kaidos dream of a zoan army would be more interesting if he's basically not a human himself and hence he wants an army of half humans as well -
RE: Notions That Don't Deserve Their Own Threads
If he was suicidal back then too, maybe he thought it would be the end of him. Shanks may have talked him out of it or said it wouldn't work and he believed him.
I assumed it was because Kaido was kind of like Doflamingo and wanted chaos by starting a bigger war by attacking both the WB pirates and the WG

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
His flames are actually blue and his quirk is officially called Cremation.
I did not know that, I guess it being blue does make more sense in terms of it being hotter.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Wouldnt touya have been on quirk registry as a black flame user? I can't imagine there would be too many people with the ability to freely create black super hot flames. Even if he wasnt on the register I would assume someone in the family would recognize his flame powers

RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
Mafia bosses have to make amends for their members immediately unless they are away, or else war breaks out between the groups was what the pages were saying right?
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Great fighting ability not compensating for a lack of power was exactly what I was trying to point out and why power creep is a concern for the series.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Yes mirio landed a punch in the start but in general against a quirk he mostly defended against by phasing, I don't think he would lasted 15 minutes. As I said it's just my opinion that mirio did not show the aptitude to be able to fight against overhaul for that long without his quirk.
The point of quirks having actual strength level is that no matter how much people like tail guy learns to fight it's unlikely hes going to reach the level of the stronger quirks without some op interpretation of what a tail can do. That can end up with these characters being sidelined, especially since he's not the only one learning to fight and plenty of villains themselves could learn to fight.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Well I just dont understand how mirio was able to get close or do anything at the point where he lost his quirk. I might be remembering wrong but when mirio lost his quirk iirc he was at a considerable distance and couldn't really do anything do overhaul beyond dodging and I don't see how he could dodge overhauls attack for long enough without his invincibility quirk. I personally just don't buy mirios combat aptitude to be able to survive overhaul without his quirk for that long.
Strong quirks might not completely compensate for the lack of ability to fight but almost the very first scene in this manga shows that ability to fight/effort alone does not make up for having greatly inferior/non-existent quirks. It has been a reoccuring theme in the manga that not all quirks are equal.
Tbh outside of the noumus there hasnt been much powercreep on the villains side so as long as more super powered noumus don't appear most of class A can still contribute. -
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Theres really no indication that mirio had the martial arts skill to do anything when overhaul decides to create spikes out of the floor without his quirk. Im not sure there is possibly any amount of fighting skill that allows a normal person to do anything about it. I have no problem with people being beaten due to exploiting their weaknesses but in a medium range fight against overhaul without a quirk lack of fighting experience isnt that big of a drawback.
Edit: My main concern with powercreep in this series is more that characters like sugar and tail guy end up falling behind without some really op interpretation of their abilities. Like i cant see tape guy being more than backup and restraining villain help in the future.

RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I was actually wondering can laser guys laser actually do any damage or is he literally just a giant torch?
As for the fact that make-things-girl has no limits on her power I don't really give it much thought. Quirks and actual power levels are really just balanced on how the author feels. Mirio without any powers somehow held out against overhaul for quite a while. While it was cool seeing how overhaul was getting his ass kicked by mirio when he had his powers, holding out without any powers just broke all suspension of disbelief. Right after we had a super noumu stronger than the level one hero appear out of nowhere. There are people like ice and fire and has-a-tail guy in the same class. By the end of the manga im fully expecting hands guy to turn into crocodile or something.

RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
I also thought it was unique to certain types of nen beasts to try protect their master directly, like halkenbergs
-
RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
Nen beast are meant to work differently to normal nen though. Since the ability itself in this case really only works after death it shouldn't become stronger after death. Also since the king kept retrieving the bodies I think in this case the nen of the dead princes possibly powers up the victor of the sucession war. The strong devotion/grudge bit went out the window when hisoka got to use it as a free res.
-
RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
If the only way to survive is to win the war then maybe kurapika will end up dying this arc.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
All might with plus extra writtten as a caption
-
RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
Regardless of togashis general story design issues, I think its fair to criticise this arc for not having any real interesting hook at least from my perspective. The spiders and hisoka + kurapika is imo the most interesting aspect but its being practically sidelined for "watch kurapika try survive magic nen attacks from a bunch of princes with little depth while under specific social rules".
-
RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
Exactly it's not that it's physically impossible to keep track of the characters, but that they don't have anywhere enough development or interest to cause me to do it naturally by just reading the chapters.
-
RE: Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
Theres less to get invested in in this arc tbh. Its a bunch of annoying princes with kurapika trying to get as many of them to survive. Its like trying to get that dog from fallout to survive, we all know that quite a few of them are going to die.

RE: The Promised Neverland
Yeah Im not buying the humans being deadlier than bayon and co. Its an army of supersmart kids who killed multiple demons, in their home turf, defending against someone they knew would attack, with a hidden ally somewhere as well just in case things go bad. Especially when they just have bullets, one of the most non-lethal weaponery in a fantasy setting.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
It's kind of wierd how aizawa keeps giving off the impression of the most experienced hero despite actually being not much of an active hero.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
How did someone like dog tail get into class A over say vines or beast dude in the first place?
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
One thing that worries me is that I hope they don't go down the route of making shinso lose in the class B team, just to push the point of how class A is more experienced with working as a team. I also hope some of the class A teams do end up losing to their class B opponents (including maybe even dekus team)

RE: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part II: Do the Dio Walk!
Part 6 had some of the wierdest events
! Green baby? Magic incantations and ribcages? Riding a dolphin to escape the resetting of the world? The fact that the main villain wasnt evil? The fact that dios sons were magically at the right place at the right time? Absorbing the green baby to get new powers?.
! It had other weird stuff but the other things were just classic jojo bizareness -
RE: The Promised Neverland
I know theres demons in this world but i wasnt expecting magic considering the rest of the setting uses logic to explain everything.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
If eraserheads initial fighting performance was anything to go by, that restriction can be functionally bypassed pretty easily. Just need to switch targets rapidly enough that it feels like hes brainwashing everybody at the same time.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Except that the WAS a real reason that they don't use the Eagles, Sauron had no idea where the ring was. But if suddenly the Eagles, the eyes of Mänwe in middle-earth, started carrying some people towards Mordor it would be a no brainier that those people have the ring and so he would send all of his forces against that. The Eagles constantly saving Gandalf's bacon can be over-sighted as they doing a solid for a friend.
Also I love, how low key Mina is shipping AllNight.
Presumably if they actually brought shinso along the villains would just stop talking and then he would just be a deadweight due to having no other physical capabilities with his quirk. This is assuming he can't just brainwash through a speaker.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Why don't they just use shinso is probably going to be like a "why didn't they use the eagles to fly to mordor" situation. You really can't go wrong adding shinso to every situation, even AFO would have lost.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I assumed OFA was still scared of All Might up until the school attack when he realised that all might got weaker and so decided to mostly hide himself.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Theres not really any reason for afo to sell nomus to terrorist groups considering he is the biggest terrorist group and seems to have no problem with funding unlike the yakuza dudes. Selling them at that point is just another risk for them at that point especially considering the power of the nomus and the difficulty in creating them.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Well realistically you would assume that there would optional hero mastery license type stuff available outside of the courses. When the black mist guy from the lov teleported away I remember there was a comment that it was a pity that he was evil since teleportation quirks were rare, which kind of suggested some quirks had alternate routes or fast tracks to becoming a hero. Hawks was just picked up and made a hero on the spot iirc
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Even without him getting a power-up from it, it would still piss me off if deku ends up having an important lineage. Deku being unremarkable in every way but personality is a part of what he symbolises imo
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
You know I always thought that one for all was as broken as all for one since from the initial description from all might it seemed like all quirks of the user pass on hence the super strength quirk being passed on from the original. Either only the original passed on an extra quirk or everyone after was quirkless/had a strength enhancement quirk.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
I think having dabi add nothing t the endeavor situation was a bit of a disappointment. Right now is the moment where dabis relation to endeavor actually adds the most tension. Just feels quite odd to ratchet up the tension of "what will dabi do to these nearly dead heros" to immediately make it pointless the chapter right after since the answer was nothing. There was really no payoff to the cliffhanger.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Not a fan at all of lov getting another teleporter
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
Skip the quirk erasing bit and we have a deal. Death is the best quirk erasing skill
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
The first nomu actually survived all might barrage but was captured by the authorities since he was basically like a pet and basically didnt resist at all. Dabi might collect this one and then they need a hero team up to finally kill it.
My completely random guess is that dabi basically couldn't control his quirk at all and endeavor took him down by force to stop him and in the process burned his entire body. I would wager theres a 100% chance that if endeavor was part of the yakuza mission then he would probably burn eri to solve her going out of control.
-
RE: My Hero Academia II - A true Hero
All the signs seem to point to dabi being endeavors abandoned son, but seeing as a lot of this arc is trying to redeem endeavor I feel like the twist will be something with less punch
-
RE: The Promised Neverland
Case in point she got impaled by a professional murdering demon and it didn't even incapacitate her.
-
RE: Onepunch-Man (redrawn version)
I like king because hes a view into how saitama would be treated if his accomplishments were properly recognized, he doesn't go out of his way to put up the farce as much as just get repeatedly get lucky/unlucky and he has more depth to his character than just being a lucky fake.

RE: The Promised Neverland
! Disappointed that emma lived with no reasoning given.
