I think either Barto or Jinbe/Luffy will take it this year
Yep. Barto's currently the man to beat, though I think Robin has a decent shot at it too (big in-story momentum, like Barto). Being a former winner hurts her alot though . . .

Koala: If you're having dull matches I feel bad for you son, I got 99 votes and beat the croc by 1
Reminds me of Dryish having to break Luffy vs. Jinbei last year.
Which, oddly enough, is the next match.
Wait, if it's Supernova….then.....well there you go.
The hosting mod gets the tie-breaking vote (I think), so yeah, its still really up in the air now /sarc
And we have a tie! Now it all comes down to the tie-breaker . . . So Super, which animal do you like best?
The character who beats Doflamingo in his own arc wins the tournament. It's the new tradition.
I though it was the "A Character that only previously appeared in a flashback gets a minor appearance in-story, and somehow cruises over much stronger veteran contenders" path.
Or Bellamy could stay in Dressrosa. It's not like the Rikus are going to kick him off the island if Luffy considers him a friend. Unlike Jinbe, he's probably too small of a fry for the WG to care about, and Dressrosa's almost certainly going to wind up as part of Luffy's territory when the arc is over.
Though I do find the idea of him joining Barto hilarious, especially if he winds up a Luffy Fanboy as well.
The last crew member will be an attractive woman. She'll have been familiar with the SH through the Newspapers and bounty posters, however in the arc where she joins she'll get permanently blinded somehow before she meets the full crew.
She'll join the crew and think Sanji's wanted poster is his real face.
Yes… Yes...
Crush him, Robin. Let Sabo die in darkness and despair...
First, Zoro was dealt with, now Sabo is being dealt with... It is a good day for me.
!
I didn't think anyone would be able to get me to vote for Doflamingo, but Barto has somehow done it.
Well, on PH and DR Brook was pretty cool (no pun). At least he doesn't have any questionable moments.
Zeff got surprising amounth of love lately for a man who once struggled against Tashigi of all people.
Character popularity can be pretty fickle sometimes. Last year's champ was a flashback character who hadn't appeared in the manga in 10 years, and he only won because the Tontattas had a bust of him on Green Bit.
This year he lost 60-40 in his first match against someone he beat handsomely last year.
Luffy will fuse with Bellamy DBZ style using Law's DF to combine their stretchy/elastic powers in order to beat DD.
The "Oh no, he used completly ordinary bullets on me, liike he did on Corazon" kind of backstory?
I'm not sure. It could be his way of saying "You're a pathetic rookie", especially if Law knows he has something better he could have used.
I mean, despite what DD said back on PH, he's been acting like everything going on is beneath him. His attitude towards the SH/Law this whole arc has been "Aww look at da widdle kiddies pway pirate".
Also, lead bullets.
Okay, one: It's stupid because most bullets would be lead, considering the period.
Two: Did they just implied that Law was weakened by lead poisoning?! Oh for fucks sake…
My guess is that it has something to do with Law's backstory with Doflamingo. Law treats it more like DD was flipping him off than poisoning him.
Also, if Law was able to remove the "candy" from the kids at PH after they already ate it, then I assume he could do the same with lead on himself.
The question might seem stupid but I just noticed :
Why is Jinbe traveling inside a bubble-ship ? Is it usual for fishmen to travel that way ?
It was because he was dropping Caribou (not water-breather) off at G-5. He wasn't just gonig to leave the ship there.
It would be unimaginative if they were just square invisible walls.
You're literally calling the most imaginative application of a power unimaginative.
Yeah. Hell, I hope he uses it even more creatively. Make one a few meters in front of Gladius so the next time he chucks his bombs they explode in his face. If he tries to run anywhere, make a barrier at knee height in his way to trip him. If he ever gets airborne, use the barriers to keep him off the ground and off balance (since we've seen him move them in the Colosseum). Box him in
His DF has almost as many creative practical uses as Robin's, without the weakness of making more potential targets. Hell, Robin might be able to make hands off of his barriers, for some nice team synergy.
Hey, I've been thinking: since certain DF abilities trump other, usually more powerful abilities in surprising and unexpected ways, does that mean Kidd would have an advantage over Isshou since electromagnetism is a stronger force than gravity? Honestly, I'd love to see them fight, to see how that would play out. (Also, Oda, if you could do Weak and Strong Nuclear force DF's, that'd be amazing).
How would either of those work? I guess the Strong Interaction force fruit would mean you kill people by hugging them them death brutally? Its billions of times stronger than Gravity but only works over exceptionally short distances
EDIT: I guess a better idea would be having massively powerful death-grip.
I had always anticipated Chopper's numbered chapter would come after some internal struggle dealing with him being animal, man, or monster. After he came back post timeskip fully in control of monster point that idea lost a bit of steam. If at some point down the line we run into a character capable of removing devil fruits, going for Chopper and turning him just back into a regular blue nosed reindeer could still make for a lot of drama with his membership of the crew.
I assume the reason Chopper and Robin don't have one is because of other factors in the plot. Giving Chopper a "the Fifth" at the end of Drum would have spoiled that Vivi wasn't joining (since Oda already established a first-on-the-boat numbering rule since Nami was "the Second"). Robin was unique in that her "I'm joining the crew for realz" moment was in the middle of an arc rather than at the end, and calling that chapter "the Sixth" would have basically spoiled that the crew would make it out alive. While that sort of thing is usually a given, it would be bad artistic form to directly confirm that the crew rescues her before it happens.
Good to see the Pink man on top. He got robbed last year, its only fitting he gets to have revenge this time.
This match is starting to feel like a D&D group. The pompous dashing hero and the sneaky thief get all the love and attention, while the reliable healer is stuck in the background.
CHOPPER FOR CHAMPION! Vote for the reindeer that keeps everyone else going!
Jinbe himself doesn't appear to have Haki (CoA at least) as he relied on his FK to hurt Luffy.
It might not be possible to Haki-imbue Fishman Karate attacks because of how they "hit" their targets. Though if it works against logias like it did against Luffy, Jinbe probably never bothered to learn it since he didn't really need it.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I don't recall BB having a fishman on board though.
Sanjuan Wolf is probably a fishman, or at least a good stand in for one.
VOTE FOR FRED!
This right here is probably my all-time favorite campaign. It makes me smile every time I see it.
After Luffy becomes the Pirate King, everyone will go their separate ways. Inspired by Usopp who formed his own crew, Chopper will form his own too. However, Marines will call Chopper's crew as the Zoo Pirate Crew (points to those who get the reference).
Beginning members will involve animals that he's met while traveling with Strawhats,=
Carue, the super speed spotted duck
Eyelashes, the perverted camel
Scissors, the perverted giant crab
Ucy, the fighting bull
the 'major muscle' of the crew= Sarume and Laboon
stealth and spy= Mr.13 and Miss Friday
The anime just had a filler arc crew with that concept (sort of).
I don't know who Shoujou is, so…
I will skip that to post one of my new theories.
You know it's quite suprising how Luffys hat can maintain it's condition, despite it's so many decades old and it isn't exactly being kept in a wardrobe. It just doesn't makes sense. So in my opinion Luffy keeps replacing his strawhat. So when time comes when Luffy have to return his hat to Shanks he will take out suitcase and open it to reveal a rotten colorless chunk of straws, which Luffy will throw it to Shanks and essentially hit his face with it for Shanks being confused for some reasons unknown.
The Straw Hat "ate" the Immortality fruit. It never ages or degrades unless directly harmed (like by Buggy).
It's also One Piece, and is really from the Void Century. The Luffy-Shanks-Roger chain of hat-giving goes all the way back.
Call me "Ugly" again. See what happens.
The reason DD is still alive with his head cut off is because he's really a Pacifista model T-1000.
Is it ever explained why Hody doesn't just die from the after-effects of the drug?
Compared to the others, he consumed MUCH more, yet he was in the exact state as the rest of them.
I don't think so. Though to be honest I sorta figured he had hit his saturation point early on and all the drugs he was taking after his "transformation" did jack simply because his body couldn't process them anymore. If each pill really did double your strength he should have been able to juggle planets by the end of that fight.
@Buggy:
Also, who put the seastone cuffs on Kyros? All of the DD family members have DFs, no?
DD has a String fruit, I could see him using that to slap Cuffs on someone without touching them himself.
Those pigeons will never escape me now!
What country are you from exactly? I'm going to guess India (from your avatar), but I'm not entirely sure.
But the part of sand or dust negating Trebol's sticky body is actually plausible.
After all if wetness (water/blood ect) can counter Crocodile's flowing sand, then makes sense that something like fine solid particles like sand, dust, …heck even dirt.. can be used to counter a sticky substance. .
Sounds like a job for the hero Usoppland!
@.access:
To be fair, IIRC Robin's morbid imagination wasn't there at first. It was something Oda came out with only after she joined. Or not… my memory is not very accurate when it comes to Alabasta.
Her morbidity was sort of hinted at when she "impaled" Vivi, but we didn't really get to see it until Skypeia. Mostly because we never really saw her relaxed until she joined the crew.
Big Mom's was already defeated by . . Momo. His artificial dragon form is the single most powerful Zoan in the world.
The popular opinion with Wolf is that he'll take on a mechanised Sunny, piloted by Franky.
I've never understood this idea. Wolf is hundreds if not thousands of times bigger than the Sunny is, mecha or no. If we were talking about regular Giants or something it would make sense (and I really hope something like this happens when they get to Elbaf), but I think wolf needs a much more radical approach.
I think someone with legs join. Think about it… So far each SH has legs.
I think the next crewmate should have a pulse cause all the SH so far have a. . .
!
DAMMIT
The next person to join the crew will be 9th member of Luffy's crew.
The next person to join will be the 8.5th member of the crew. Law will, at Luffy's request, will recreate Centaur Luffy with Kinemon's legs.
Roger wasn't the real king of the Pirates, just a handyman on his crew. The real one got toyified by Sugar, and everyone just assumed that since Roger was always present when someone mentioned "King of the Pirates" that it was him.
So, uh, what do we make of this?
Luffy recognizing that getting the Mera Mera no mi is less important then helping Law and the rest of his crew fight the DD pirates? It was a nice and subtle bit of character development for Luffy. Not that it mattered with Deus Ex Sabo showing up later to tag him out though.
EDIT: Oh sorry, I thought that you meant something different. Still, its entirely possible he means the rest of his crew too rather than just Law.
Blackbeard's unusual body condition that allows him to have 2 devil fruits also makes it impossible for him to use Haki.
And he will be defeated when a Redshirt Marine shoots him in the face with a gun.
"Huh. Why didn't we do that before?"
I'm gonna take Pimp-walking to a whole new level baby
Sabo has the "Agent Agent Fruit". He can possess people like Agents in the Matrix, and therefore everyone can be him.
Best: Acting Class. Our Teacher played a lot of improv games with us, and kept a running list of the highlights and funny quotes that she gave to us when we graduated. I still have them and go back over them when I'm in a crappy mood.
Worst: An otherwise meaningless 3rd grade project on ancient Greek History. My teacher assigned people "For" and "Against" certain issues in a debate and I was unlucky enough to get assigned with arguing against gender equality. Now, being 8 and determined to find some angle to get a good grade (and due to knowing about the birds and the bees already), I made a well-crafted and rehearsed presentation that was basically "Women should be at home making babies because its a more efficient division of labor".
Did I mention this was filmed? People were still making jokes about it through high school.
I really wonder If Oda have a pattern for choosing the next nakama cuz I've seen all type of shit in this thread. Color, names, animal themes, sad past, dreams and the list goes on.
Probably not. I get the feeling most of that stuff is him making shit up after the characters are already set, though I would be he's already decided on all of that for whoever our last member is.
Sugar is from the Void Century. The reason the WG was able to erase that history was because she turned everyone involved into toys.
Eh, the opening didn't spoil as much as some people think. Its got a lot of scenes that are obvious if you know what's happening, but are mostly incoherent if you don't. It was really only that Fujitora is a sword-wielding Admiral, Luffy will fight in a Colosseum, Bellamy is still alive, and Robin will be in the Gulliver's travel scene with a bunch of little people. Pretty much everything else is either meaningless without context (A meteor is going to hit an island) or already assumable (Law and DD are going to meet, and the admiral Akainu sent after them will wind up there). No actual plot or reveals were spoiled, and the whole sequence feels more like an extended "stay tuned next time for" bit.
The only thing I don't like is that they spoiled
! Violet working for DD. They even have a decent reason to not put her on the splash with the officers, since she jumps ship the same chapter we found out she was working for DD in the first place.
Man, I got to stop smoking so much Oddish before heading out.
SOON
. . . They will invent screens with more than 500 pixels! And then you can actually see my menacing face!
