@Dixxy:
Except that all of the routes start at Reverse Mountain, not in any of the blues.
It's a big world. An uncharted current in a small corner of East Blue to the Grand Line isn't beyond reason.
@Dixxy:

@HiroVoid:
Is it just me or is it kind of weird that all of these people somehow ended up on this one island from east blue?
Not really. If the route to that island starts in East Blue, then obviously that's where the people using it would come from.
It's totally a spoiler, but I'm not participating in the spoiler discussion.
Yeah, all those screenshots came from disk two of the set. (I think it was Season 2, Voyage 2?) There are a few from Whiskey Peak I'll need too. Not too many though because I don't like the Miss Wednesday design.
One of these days I'll get around to rewatching disk one of that set and put more screen caps up.
OP 1- We Are!- Basically encompassed the whole East Blue Saga, remember that moment when it flashed spoilers of the upcoming bad guys/story arcs?
OP 2- Believe- Also has a flash, only it was for the Whiskey Peak saga (and Apis).
Showing flash frames of big bad profile shots doesn't count. The bulk of We Are is just the Straw Hats fighting random pirates and Believe's catch is recaps of the crew's past.
OP 3- Hikari E- Basically spoiled the twist about Robin joining the crew and was used mainly during the filler portion.
They included Robin in the opening when she joined the crew. Just because they started using it early doesn't matter.
OP 4- Bon Voyage- Was the FIRST opening to include all the "outside of the Straw Hats" plot elements in the series. The five elder stars, Buggy, Ace, etc.
Profile shots are always there and they still don't count.
OP 5- Kokoro no Chizu- Foxy/Aokiji/Water 7 spoiler
OP 6- Brand New World- Enies Lobby spoiler
Now those two count. They use footage that directly references events happening that will happen in the show, sometimes even pulling footage directly from the episode.
So for reference…
A quarter second flash of Arlong's mug in We Are: Doesn't Count
Clips from the Davy Back Fight and the Enies Lobby battles: Counts
OP 7- Crazy Rainbow- Whhheeeeeee. Let's animate colorspreads.
Oh, but Mihawk and Ace were it it! That's totally… spoilers... for... no, it's just like the first four.
OP 8- Jungle P- The first OP to include the new ship and Franky, and filler arc/Thriller Bark spoilers.
Jungle P is totally about Thriller Bark, so yeah, that one counts.
OP 9- We Are Remix!- Because it's a reversioning of We Are it does show how far the crew has come and the Oz battle spoilers.
If not for the completely random Oz clip (which I had forgotten about) it wouldn't count.
OP 10- Share the World- Amazon Lily and Impel Down spoilers
OP 11- Impel Down and Marineford spoilers
yeah, those count.
So yeah, six out of 11, more than I thought (I forgot about the Oz and Imperial down stuff in We Are Remix and the new one), but still far from EVERY.
Okay, but how the hell is that any different than any other opening before and after that have some similar traits. Like We Are, Believe, To The Light, Bon Boyage, Map of the Heart, Crazy Rainbow…
...All of which consist to some extent of the traits you attacked Brand New World for. Yes, not in the same way, but similar. They all show "profile" shots of the crew and show them hanging out. I don't get why BNW is the only one you hate for those reasons when it's in all the other openings.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not mad or attacking you about it. I just plain don't get it, is all. But we've all got our own opinions.
"Nothing we haven't seen before or done better previously."
It's not just that the opening doesn't do anything new, it also doesn't do anything well. The absolute best part is the sub-character profile shots and that's only because they synced them up with the music nicely.
The rest is either bland or bad. Specific annoyances include…
The first clip in the opening is incredibly poorly drawn.
I dislike CGI Going Marry shots
and I especially dislike SD Ships 'sailing' on a map.
The dullness of the first part is only exemplified by the awesomeness of the last.
Luffy in Gear 2! Hell yeah!
Zoro fighting Kaku! Sweet!
Sanji in a kicking war with Kalifa, whoa!
Awesome shot of Sogeking shooting something!
Nami hitting somebody with lightning!
Franky trading blows with a giant egg thing!
HOLY !@#$ WHAT THE HELL! WAS THAT CHOPPER!
A nice imposing shot of Enies Lobby
Then finish with a badass stare down between CP9 and the Straw Hats!
More 10 times more epicness in the last thirty seconds then the previous 1:20. Awesome, but that doesn't make the whole opening good.
How was BNW generic? I don't get it.
Straw Hats running
CGI shot of Going Marry
Profile shots of the Straw Hats
Profile shots of the sub characters
Straw Hats running
Straw Hats hanging out
Stupid boat graphics 'sailing' on a map
That is everything that's in the first two-thirds of that opening. Completely and utterly standard opening traits with very little to make them unique.
The last thirty seconds are a wave of awesome and epicness, but the everything before that is just utterly uninteresting. Nothing we haven't seen before or done better previously.
I'll bite. What's everyone's beef with Crazy Rainbow?
The biggest beef is a two-fold problem that has nothing to do with the merits of the song itself.
1. It was the first of the 2:30 openings, which made it drag out longer than people were used to after hundreds of episodes of 1:50.
2. It was used FOR-EV-ER. Seriously, I don't know how many episodes this opening was used for, but it was a !@#$ing lot.
Brand New World, on the other hand, gets way more praise then it deserves. The last thirty seconds of it are really really good, but the first 1:20 is just boring and generic.
ALL of the other openings were in context with what was going on in the series while Crazy Rainbow was just a huge distraction.
Huh? The first opening that had anything to do with what was going on in the series was Kokoro no Chizu.
So far only Kokoro no Chizu, Brand New World, Jungle P, and Share the World have tied into the show's story. That's four out of twelve.
Jesus, that opening was even worse than Share The World.
Wow, I'm thick. I never thought of Sanji's "Nami-swan!" as him adding a 'w' to -san. I always thought he was calling her a Swan. You know, like the bird.
I got that "Robin-chawn" was a baby-speak way of saying '-chan', but it never occurred to me that he was doing it for both.
I will not watch the stream until they make it universal. And not suckµ.
fansubs ftw funi
Nobody cares. Shoo.
I think to save the headache, Funi will probably end up going with the "It's MISTER Three," route in the dub. It works just as well and saves the trouble of trying to detranslate a cross-language joke.
It is pretty cool that they left the joke untranslated in the sub though. I didn't even notice it until I read this thread.
Latin translation please, thank you.
Luffy: Tu tres.
Mr. Three: Haud, ego Mister Three!
I realize I'm probably not even close on the grammar, but that's the general gist of it.
Wow, overreacting much? How do you know they aren't working on it?
What part of 'no indication that they are working on it' didn't you understand?
Geez, just calm down and wait. At least they give us the episodes for free.
Ummm no. They aren't. That's kind of the issue here if you haven't noticed.
Jesus Funi. It's a !@#$ing video on a website. You don't need to hack all of the internets to get your !@#$ working.
Five days and no indication that anything is even being done.
I think Sanji said it, but Zeff never confirmed it.–
I'm not sure if Bleach's attitude towards filler should be commended or discouraged.
On one hand, it's certainly disruptive to the flow of the show to just stick filler arcs in the middle of regular arcs.
On the other hand, you've got to admire the balls on them to just say "You know what. !@#$ it. We're gonna put a filler arc here. Don't care if it makes sense or not."
It'd probably really annoying, but the filler they've put in since they started doing this has actually been pretty good, so whatever.
Okay, this is getting old. It's Wednesday already. I find it very hard to believe that whoever's in charge of putting up Funi's videos hasn't fixed this yet.
This is why Funi should do the smart thing and let Hulu or YouTube host their stuff.
I'm freezing at :01 seconds on both my laptop and my PC. Come on, Funi, get your crap together!
I hate the way they do their videos. Just put it on YouTube or Hulu already!
I think the overly long Buggy Crew stuff was simply to pad the episode a bit. Frankly, I would have preferred more random scenes of Imperial Down. Or even better, more Garp/Ace conversation.
I cannot imagine Funi starting Season 4 anywhere but at the start of Davy Back. G8 is the end of the Skypiea arc and has nothing to do with anything else. Besides, you don't just randomly switch to widescreen in the middle of the season.
@Karate:
You burn people like a four year old.
Flame you? I'm not here to flame you. I haven't even been trying to flame you. You're not worth the effort.
You may think of this as some epic war of words, but I'm just poking you to watch you spaz out like a Tickle-Me-Elmo with turrets.
@Karate:
Your argument is some terrible "I CANT WATCH ANYTHING TWICE BECAUSE IM AN OLD FART" schlock.
My argument is "I don't have the inclination to follow One Piece in two different formats just to catch the trivial differences between the two".
The time/benefit ratio simply isn't high enough to make that worth it. If I had all the free time in the world, sure, then it wouldn't matter. But I don't. Those trivial details are not so important to me that I'm going to go so far out of my way to hunt them down.
I don't know why this offends you, and I don't particularly care. You're nothing but a forum troll anyway. If it's not one thing, it'd be another.
@Karate:
It's going to take an act of Mod to end this, so yeah, you better.
Ahhh, okay.
Change in this sense would be a noun you muppet
Making drastic an adjective. Drastically would be your adverb
This is true. Change does work as both verb and noun. I was thinking of change as a verb, but used Rin's word 'drastic' for the example. I should have changed it to drastically or just gone the adjective/noun route. I am shamed. :(
It doesn't change my point though.
@Karate:
Hahaha, what was that supposed to accomplish.
Amusement at your expense.
@Karate:
So you never ever watch movies again.
Sadly, very rarely.
@Karate:
Yeah so anyway, I'm probably older then you and I'm in any case not 13, so why do you think I would believe your bullshit about "time".
Doubtful. Even if I were to believe you are in college as you imply, I'm well beyond that age. :: so oooold. :(
@Karate:
The fact that your following the anime over the manga is the first retarded step in a long line of retarded roads here.
Reading comprehension fail!
@Karate:
I know I don't really post in this section, but you should know you're at least in over your head even if you don't know who I am.
The burn level your capable of is not sustainable for one.
He he he he he he. Oh man. You are just too much fun. Listen kid, you can posture all you want. We both know that's all it is.
I mean, look at you. Big guy with an attitude. Ooooo scary. You attack people with random insults and curses just to pretend you're the big dog.
But let's face reality here. You're nothing but insults and swears. You can't respond to a valid argument with anything but mindless barking. Hell, you're so scared of me that twice now you've tried to bluff me away.
Poor little puppy. All bark. No bite. You're not making me angry. You're not even hurting my feelings. You're just… amusing. Like a shiny new toy.
@Karate:
If you can't follow sarcasm to save your life you have no chance here.
Now if you're so busy fuck off already.
Well gosh, I sure don't want the big scawry meany to hurt me. I better wun for the hills.
Is that what's considered a burn now on Arlong Park forums? Changing people's posts with 3rd grade "u live with ur mom" jokes?
Hey, you work with what you've got. I'm trying not to confuse the kid with anything he wouldn't understand.
Let me try
FIXED FOR YOU!!!
LOL LOL LOL
OWNED
Dick jokes? Really? And the laughing isn't funny, just obnoxious. Have some self-respect. Trust in your jokes.
1/10. I'd give you a 2/10 for effort, but I really don't think your heart was in it.
@Karate:
-Me, posting from my mom's apartment in the middle of high school midterms week after spending a whole weekend preparing an informative speech for second period English, writing a Luffy/Usopp slashfic, and getting high while watching Apocalypse Now for a paper and doing my chores
Fixed for you.
Anyway, yes, I do have time to watch One Piece, because I make time for it, because I like watching the anime. I have no inclination to make additional time to follow the manga of a show I'm already watching. Likewise, I don't spend my time watching anime of shows I'm following through manga. (of course, two of those manga had anime adaptations by Bee Train so that's pretty much turned me off on the whole deal…)
@Karate:
Don't even fucking respond to that, you're done.
You are adorable. I think I'll keep you as a pet.
Again… no. Though it's true that sometimes certain words can take on specific, non-traditional meanings among certain groups, this is not one of those times.
Change is change is change. The definition of change doesn't change for small changes just because big changes have happened in the past.
Again. That's why adverbs exist. If you want to say this isn't a big, drastic, dramatic, significant, or otherwise important change. Fine. But you cannot say it isn't a change.
@Karate:
Yeah because that's the only worth a story has, a one time go through, then toss it aside like a condom.
Great argument doofus.
Ahhh, that explains it.
Don't worry, once you grow up and have to move out of your parent's house and get a job, you'll understand all too well the meaning of "I just don't have the time."
Look, I wouldn't call this a "Change" at all. When you say "Change" people think of drastic alterations.
No they don't. They think it means something isn't the same as it was. Scale has nothing to do with it. That's why we have adverbs.
Drastic = Adverb
Change = Verb
Bird Bird Fruit to Tweety Tweety Fruit. Mole Mole Fruit to Diggy Diggy Fruit. Heavy Point to Weight Boost.
Since it uses the exact same words and doesn't alter the meaning AT ALL, I'd not call this a change. A change would have been "Gear Second" to "Gum Gum Pump Up" or something, it's just a SLIGHT reordering of the words… while still using the EXACT same words.
None of that matters. You cannot say it isn't a change just because it isn't a big one.
You mean other than not wanting to spend the time reading something you've already seen?
The fact that you put the word in quotes is pretty telling…
Seriously, I know Oda named the attack "Shark On Darts", and I get why "Shark" and "Darts" is there. But The "On" makes no sense…
Fishman brains have a tendency to read certain things backwards and translating their particular grammar is always a challenge because fishmen never waste anything, so what normally would have read 'Darts no Shark' came out 'Shark on Darts' instead of simply 'Shark Darts'.
It's a fishman thing.
1. 'Gear Second' is a name. It doesn't have to follow the rules of English grammar. Christ, 'Brain Point' doesn't even make any goddamn sense, but that's what they had better !@#$ing use.
2. To translate is to turn from one language into another or from a foreign language into one's own. You cannot translate English into English. One would think that this would be obvious, but apparently it's not.
3. Lip flaps don't really matter. In fact, it's kind of weird how anal U.S. dub companies get about them. They will put far more effort into lip-syncing a dub than the original production company does when making the show in the first place.
Rainbow Mist, Ocean's Dream, and !@#$ING GOAT ISLAND all need to go.
When One Piece ends it will almost certainly be released in a complete collection on an X-Gig flash card or whatever format we end up using by then.
Movie 6 was boring as hell, which oddly enough still puts it at the mid-way point as far as One Piece movies go.
Movie 4 is the best, hands down.
I official called this episode of One Piece. Schinler List: One Piece Edition.
Care to try that again in English?
I think we'll see a steady release schedule till the end of Skypiea and possibly through Water 7/Enies Lobby. We're still talking years before they even come close to catching up.
Got it, just had to turn off Ad-Blocker
I can't get it to play! :(
It doesn't matter WHAT the One Piece is. It could be a corn cob pipe. That's not the point. The point of the One Piece isn't what it is, it's what you have to be able to do to get it. More than anything else, the One Piece is an idea.
Oh yea brook, can't believe i forgot him too.
"Men love to see panties"
That wouldn't be an issue with Hancock… :happy:
so what if i am.
Well it would explain a lot.
if you think Robin's boring like Vivi, ok. I dont really care.
An odd way to put it.
its a one piece character thing to keep going even if it means death. They all do it. Vivi is not special in this way. It doesn't make her at all interesting either.
They'll fight to the death in battle, but rarely do you see that sort of persistence in a situation that you can't swing your fists at. Few One Piece characters have been pushed to the brink like Vivi has and for all the talk about her whining she never quit doing everything in her power, no matter how small, to achieve her goal.
Please. Luffy kicked her ass. He didn't even use any named attacks.
Pfft. But Vivi has blue hair and obviously knows more about fashion.
This is the part where we just post random statements completely unrelated to what we are quoting, right?
Vivi had to deal with a shichibukai (and failed miserably). Robin had and still has the entire world.
Vivi attacked Crocodile and abandoned the fight to save her friends. Robin tried to kill him, knew his weakness, attempted to exploit it, and got stabbed for her trouble.
Which one failed miserably?
Are you high?
Robin practically WAS Vivi in Enies Lobby. Single minded girl stuck in a hopeless situation but utterly refuses to let other people, especially her friends, risk themselves for her. Completely willing to shoulder the responsibility of her problems until Luffy convinces her to trust in him.
The only difference between Robin and Vivi is that Robin gave up and Vivi does not quit. She decides she needs to do something she will do anything it takes to get it done no matter how big or small. She will fight for it till her last breath and even in the face of impossible odds where the only option left for her is to scream at the top of a clock tower she will do it.
She could give Luffy a lesson in sheer willpower.
Yes, Robin is clever, vindictive, morbid, and outrageous. When she's not bearing the weight of the world on her shoulders.
We rarely saw Vivi outside that situation, but when we did she proved to be wise, fun-loving, maternal, and incredibly forgetful when it comes to the small (or even large) details.
I like how you keep making these statements without qualifying them.
I'm still baffled as to how we got to this discussion and why it's in the Funimation section.
Where exactly do you think those screenshots came from?
almost everyone instantly loves her right off the bat without her ever…doing anything.
Care to explain this statement? I can only think of two instances where Vivi meets people.
The first is her childhood friends, and Kozah beats her up the first time they meet.
The second is the Straw Hats, and they only take her because Nami wanted to extort money from her.
You're right, Vivi did whine a lot and I can see how that'd be annoying. But really, what else could she do? It was kind of a pressing matter. It'd be nice to see what she'd be like without that weight on her shoulders.
Not due to her country, just do to the kind of person she is.
Spandam: Would you declare war on the entire world!
Vivi: No! Wait! We can talk this out!
Luffy: Sogeking… make that flag burn.
Vivi: We can negotiate!
If Vivi were to have stayed on-board, she would have had to commit completely to it. It would have been awesome to watch that change in character but it would have required a lot of work to be believable.
