Neither Luffy, nor Zoro, nor Sanji, nor Frankie can…

LOL wow. It took me like an entire minute to notice Usopp. Also, his pose reminds me of the "Kilroy was here" graffiti.

Hmmm….so they turned the 10 page, flipbook style scene of Sonic circling Saitama into just one page? I can imagine their reasons for this. Perhaps that style didn't translate to print well. But I still can't help but to wish they left it alone.
I would just import it if the taxes weren't so absurd. Shipping something from outside of Brazil makes it's price goes up almost 150%, and it's ridiculous to pay almost the triple for something. I really hope for a brazilian release (which is unlikely) so then I would just pay almost the double for it.
And even though you say it won't affect scanlations, just look at Cross Manage. I guess it's case is an exception though, since it was released at SJA way too soon, but still…
If Viz does an English print release, you can just buy it from The Book Depository. They have free world wide shipping.
Can someone link me to the page where Mocha is up and about? I'm not seeing it.
I believe Usopp will always show fear throughout the entire manga, but that doesn't make him a coward as long as he steps up when it counts.
I watch the anime simulcast on Crunchyroll for this and I really love it. A few episodes drag, but overall, the music and the voice acting….it's all so great. Teared up more than a few times.
I really hope Funimation is already working on licensing this. I want to own it really bad, and not 3 years from now like with Strong World.
@RobbyBevard:
I dunno, I was kinda hoping it would get shaken up a little, for a few eps at least. Especially after they had several episodes showing Ranicorn pregnant building up to this.
Still, I'm sure they'll show up from time to time.
I'd be okay with a shake up too. Jake stating moved out definitely would have changed things a lot. I just couldn't help but worry that the development might break up the adventure duo of Finn and Jake. If things didn't turn out the way they did, and Jake had to continue to take care of his children and continued to live with Lady, I can't imagine he would be adventuring much if at all.
Jake's kids are pretty cool. I like Jake Jr.'s voice. I was a bit worried this would change the dynamic of the show, but it seems that won't be a problem.
I'd like to have a new opening too. If only because the opening animation still reflects Fishman Island with Hody and what not. It's time for a change. Perhaps Toei had their hands full with the movie and stuff.
@nodensuke:
This is going to get closed/moved soon, but oh well.
It doesn't work like that, at least for me.
I'll buy the original release to support the series and then just read a really good translation on line.
I can't stand certain things about Viz translations and won't buy their release because of it.
Well, if you buy the Japanese volumes, I wouldn't expect you to buy the English volumes too.
I personally can't read Japanese(if I could, I would buy the originals too). And since I can't read Japanese, I cannot say whether or not Viz's translations are wrong, except in famous cases like Zoro's name, which is just one letter and doesn't bother me at all. I'd wager that most people that use that one letter as an excuse not to buy, weren't really serious about buying in the first place.
It's just one letter. Just change it in your head.
I finished reading my Yen Press edition of Thermae Romae volume 1, and it was great. One of the most enjoyable new series I've started in a while. Very fun and interesting. I can't wait for May to come so I can get ahold of volume 2.
That was pretty cheesy, but also really satisfying. I like those "where are they now?" type endings. They wrap things up nicely.
I couldn't make heads or tails of the story from the first chapter, but I really like the art. I have a feeling I will have the same opinion after reading the last chapter too.
I got the first 8 collections for Christmas. I'm going to do a One Piece anime marathon soon.
@CCC:
So I asked the event staff when I should enter the viewing area if I wanted to see the One Piece presentation at 4pm, and they said "Now. Hurry. RUN." (it was 11:30 am). So I did, got a decent spot, and I stood there for five and a half hours, forgoing anything and everything else at Jump Festa. Stood through the Hunter x Hunter presentation (yawn… the voice actors were practically reading from a script), Medaka Box (same thing), Toriko (a bit more interesting! Toriko, Komatsu, Coco, and Zebra's VAs actually had a bit of character to them, and Zebra's seemed really sleepy/high), and then finally One Piece. I practically started crying when Oda finally came out and he was like 60 feet away from me (out of emotion and because I couldn't feel my legs anymore). The only "juicy" info is what's already written in this thread, but it was still fun to see them all interacting, and the energy of being surrounded by thousands of other die-hard fans was really something.
Pictures/video recording was absolutely forbidden, but it doesn't matter because I somehow lost my camera anyway.
Might sound like a weird question, but did Oda look healthy/energetic/happy?
This episode reminded me of The Power of 3 in that it had a forgettable antagonist/plot, but good dialogue and character interactions. It was just nice seeing the Doctor be the Doctor again. And I like Clara so far and I'm intrigued by the mystery behind her.
I believe those are drawn by twitter user @nishiponi who, if I am not mistaken, has indeed been featured in the SBS.
Was that black and white cover featuring Beyond Netero and his gang a fake or was it the undercover or something? I like this one with Ging better, though what's with the cat?
One of my all time favs. I wish it would get licensed in English. I'd love to have it in my collection.
Don't hate Skypiea and don't really love it either, it just hasn't been that relevant in the long run and just has some really draggy parts, especially the priests.
What do you mean by "relevant"? Yeah, it was mostly a story contained to that particular island, but most of the arcs are like that. But the events of Skypiea had plenty of carry over to the rest of the story. If you count Jaya(I do), then you have Luffy's first meeting with Blackbeard(BB missed the chance to capture Luffy and instead went on to capture Ace(hugely relevant in the long run)), and even the first glimpse of Doflamingo's reach with the appearance of Bellamy.
Then you have the history of Shandora, which ties into the Void Century and the Shandora poneglyph, which tell the location of Poseidon(which we just recently got to see in person). And Gold Roger's message which solidified Robin's drive to tie the poneglyphs messages together.
Usopp got dials that he used to make weapons for himself and Nami, which were huge powerups for them both.
The crew also got a lot of gold that ended up paying for their new ship that will take them to the end of the Grand Line.
Not to mention, Enel escaped to Fairy Vearth, and though this is just speculation, what he found in those ruins regarding Moon people descending to the Blue Star seems like it will be incredibly important to the history of the One Piece world.
And if nothing else, the time they spent in Skypiea gave Robin time to gain interest in the Straw Hats and justify her sacrifice for them.
If anything, Skypiea grows more relevant in the long run IMO.
Unless that's not what you meant by "relevant".
But yeah, I agree that parts were draggy. Specifically the Priests challenges/survival game.
Really? 60%? That's farther along than I thought. I would have guessed like 53%.
I just started watching this show. Marathoned it on Netflix. It's one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. I was dying at last nights two episodes.
Lol,
thisnext week's PSI Saiki Kusuo was Saiki going to Jump Fest.
The author kissed Oda's ass like nuts, commenting on how awesome his art is etc, etc.
Was he being sarcastic or genuine with the ass-kissing?
Volumes 1 and 2 sold about 40,000 copies a piece in their first week. I guess that is pretty decent for a web comic's debut week, but I was hoping it would be a little more popular and grab the attention of Viz so we can get it printed over here.
Another time line discrepency for Strong World is that in chapter 493, Brooke says that the fight with the Flying Fish Riders will be his first as a Straw Hat. So Strong World couldn't have happened before that and it couldn't happen after, so therefor it is not part of the same storyline as the manga.
And while I haven't yet seen Z, I don't see where it could fit in the manga storyline either. Though with this Z's Ambition filler arc, you could consider it anime canon.
Is there a thread on 2ch where I can see the color spread? redon saw it, so it must be posted somewhere.
I'd be a mid tier character in Dorohedoro. Yeah, I'd probably die a few times, but there is a high chance of being healed by Noi, resurrected by Kikurage, or maybe even Nikaido going back in time to save me. I can't explain it, but even though it's a shithole, this universe speaks to me and I want to live in it, so the deaths would be worth it.
Or maybe I'd be a mid tier character in Kongou Banchou. Even though lower tier good guys get to do something cool in this series.
It's a double issue in the sense that half the magazine is released one week and the next week the second half is released, or at least that's how I understand it. So one of those weeks will include OP and the next won't.
No, a double issue is one full issue for a two week time period. It just means that there is a week break after a double issue.
if you include japan, I agree. OP's numbers in Japan are crazy.
if we're talking about the rest of the world (outside japan) then DB and naruto are more popular and of course I don't mean that they beat OP in overall sales.
But why do you discount the sheer numbers of Japan just because they are located in one relatively small place? Like I said, people are people. Fans are fans no matter if they all live in the same place or are spread out evenly throughout the world. The total number of fans of One Piece, regardless of where they are from, surpass Naruto's.
The way I see it, fans are fans no matter where they are from. Whether every fan lives on one island, or they are equally interspersed throughout the entire planet doesn't matter. So you can add Naruto's world wide fans together, and they still won't be more than One Piece's world wide fans even though Naruto fans may cover more regions.
Interesting enough and related to the discussion at hand, THIS ARTICLE says that Dragon Ball has sold "over 230million copies world wide", and that isn't even as much as One Piece has sold in Japan alone according to THIS ARTICLE(which also shows Dragon Ball's Japanese sales). So if these articles are accurate, it seems One Piece has already surpassed Dragon Ball, which is far more popular than Naruto.
Zoro got knocked out by a Yeti Cool Brother. He would have gotten taken out by Airless World just like everyone else if he was in the same situation.
! I hope Togashi didn't tire himself out drawing those backgrounds. He should save some energy for the main plot.
I want to buy this manga in book form. Someone should start a Twitter movement letting Viz know that this series is gaining a following.
On the topic of who CC may have been modeled after; I once saw this documentary on warfare and it gave a small focus to Fritz Haber, who was known as the Grandfather of Chemical Weaponry. Now, that itself isn't really much to go on, but the documentary also said that he was a friend of Albert Einstein and when Haber started experimenting on people with deadly gasses, Einstein spoke out against him and broke their friendship. This kind of reminded me of how Vegapunk denounced CC's work recently in the manga. Well, I guess that's not much to go on either, but it's still kind of interesting to me.
Movement wise.
You may not notice it, be several spreads move with the eye as you scroll down a single page, and also when click to go on a next page. It actually does take advantage of how a viewer looks at a page on the web.
I've actually noticed this while reading 'I Am a Hero' on more than one occasion. The mangaka has used similar, cinematic, flip-book-esque scenes that change slightly over the course of a few pages, and it really looks cool reading the scanlation online, but it wouldn't really be as effective if you were reading the physical, paperback book. Especially with two pages side by side.
Such an awesome and cinematic chapter. Too bad only one more chapter till we are current and have to wait. We've been spoiled with these quick releases.
I think I kind of have to rephrase, onepunch man is a gag manga and by nature I don't think this will lead anywhere interesting from a story point of view without changing into something else. I've looked at a few of the chapters ahead of the original and as war as I can tell it retains it's really ridiculous directions as intended. Now I enjoy this work quite a bit, but part of me wants to see murata drawing something of a different nature although I couldn't tell you what.
I felt the same way, especially after reading just the first few chapters. I though that Murata's talent would be put to better use on a more ambitious project. But Onepunch-Man has surprisingly gotten better with every chapter, so now I don't even really think about it anymore. I just look forward to the next chapter.
Here is two more epic animated gifs. Though they are from the next chapter not yet scanlated, so you may want to wait to look at them:

This series NEEDS to be turned into an anime.
Doubutsu no Kuni(released as Animal Land in the USA) volume 6 was released a few days ago by Kodansha USA in America and I was surprised to find an awesome Zatch Bell side story as an extra. It was really nice to see that. Too bad Viz never even finished releaseing all the volumes, but it was good to see Zatch in action again.
I think there's been a misunderstanding. the new version drawn by Murata is also a web comic. So he was saying that there is no actuall scanning or cleaning of pages. Just erasing Japanese text, translating, and pasting English text. And that's why the scanlation team has been so quick about it.
Becauce i'm a student of several cooking classes, I feel anally drawn to say this. Most of these people have way too much hair to be in an actual kitchen.
(One of the rules we're taught in cooking class is keep your hair short, or at least tied back or under a net/ That way there's less chance of any of it ending up in your food.)
Your statement reminded me of that chapter where Toriko was eating a meal while getting his hair cut. I was cringing the entire time. Nothing worse than finding a hair in your food…
It's pretty fun so far. The fights have potential to get ridiculous fast.
Question for sandman or anyone that saw the movie:
! What is the context of Robin's revealing outfit? Like is there a justifiable reason for her to dress like that, or is it just shameless fan service?
Because racism is an issue that Oda clearly wanted to explore in his story, while sexism is not. From the very beginning of the manga we see that racism in the One Piece world will be a big thing. If Oda didn't want to tackle racism, he wouldn't have included it. Unless you think Oda wants to take on sexism in the future, this kind of prejudice has no place in the story.
Just because one issue gets an in depth focus, doesn't mean the rest of the issues that don't should be unrealistically idealized. And Oda brought up the topic of gender inequality even before the topic of racism with Kuina. Whether or not Oda will go as in depth or even follow through with that at all, I cannot say. But he clearly didn't forget about it since he brought it up again just a few chapters ago through Tashigi.
Does anyone else have any issues with Funimation's video player? Like minor frame skips every several moments?
