A big thanks to tokoro ataru for translating the first few volumes of Kinnikuman. seriously, I salute you.
I just bought galactic wrestling for $5 today at gamestop. due to some scratching, audio's off, but the gameplay is fine. I'm actually enjoying this game for a while.
-
Read about that. Hope it comes up somewhere to download at some point.
And I'd like to add to the thanks for Ataru. You deserve major props for releasing your chapters of Kinnikuman. You are my hero.
Edit: Also forgot to mention, if you live in the UK, Godaiger in my Kinnikuman MAL Club spotted an article in December's Fighting Spirit Magazine for Kinnikuman's 29th anniversary. Only a brief two pages, but really sweet to see in an ordinary MMA/fighting magazine. I've provided his scans in the spoiler tags, but I'm gonna try and get my copy next chance I get.

Anyone know where I can DL Kinnikuman Nisei chapters? Like all of them.
-
try irc. you'll probably be able to find some volumes translated, and some not translated.
From my exp, the translated ones I read from irc was translated like the americanized anime, with name changes like dik dik instead of gazelleman.
-
yea, I've been trying to find them too, but I don't know how to use irc.
-
Now the US comics are hard to find..Luckily Vol1 is only 3.00 plus tax.
Whats the rating for the series?
-
OK….
Wat? -
OK….
Wat?is this Kinnikuman 1, Nisei vol.1 or is the a new series?
great..now ultimate muscle 1 is now 35.00.why?
-
New series apparently: Kinnikuman Lady. From the looks of her, she'd be a typical clumsy happy go lucky douch…
-
haha, I read it as Kinnikuman: Ready.
Btw, it's probably not a new series, but just a quick spin-off, like the Ramenman manga. Maybe focusing on a female wrestling tourney?
-
(translator of a good chunk of Kinnikuman and the two chapters so far of Kinnikuman Lady pokes head in)
It's basically an alt-universe involving Meat waking up in a parallel dimension where all the male Choujin are female. (at least from the two chapters we've done so far) So far it just seems like a retelling of the original with fanservice…nothing to sneeze at sadly. It's on an online service that Shueisha runs and they occasionally release the print volumes.

Episode 1 of the original anime…
-
@Kaba:
Episode 1 of the original anime…
MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN.
I have searched like everywhere for Torrents. There is like literally nothing
for KN & K other than a crappy Porugeuese Dub of the 4KIDS version in Wmvs.I can't wait to watch this. I hope more comes from the same place.
Thanks, Kabba -
Be sure to stop by the forums at Little Rubber Guys and Hokuto no Guns' official forum to let them know what you think of the episode. They've promised to do the whole series. Let's give them all the support we can!

And while you're at it, don't forget to post about the translation and scanslation of the original, particularly since I've finally started the Throne.
-
You mean the manga? :wassat:
It's already available for easy viewing on One Manga.

What I'm saying is that the translator for Team Kinniku, who translates this and puts it on One Manga, is me. And while they're still scanlsating through the end of the Tag arc, I've already started working on the Throne, going back and forth with KochiKame.

Oh, I see what you mean.
To tell you the truth, I'm quite behind on the current scanlations right now. I've only recently finished the 188th chapter and I read only one chapter per day.
So, it's doubtful that I'll be announcing the throne arc of the scanlations anytime soon.
But I'll definitely be updating this thread when it comes to new episodes!
BTW, for Kochikame, were you the guys who did chapters 0-4? I couldn't believe the scanlations before only covered chapters 490+!
P.S. Any chance that chapter 180 will be reuploaded with the missing pages anytime soon?

I'm just going in the order that the manga goes volumewise. So for the moment I'm moving on to vol. 2 after I finish the first volume of the Throne.
-
Get it while it's hot!
-
Nice, thanks for the link again Kaba !
Do you know if they plan to sub Nisei if they get around to it ?Also, what the Fuck, Kinnikuman Lady, I'll hafta check that out !
-
I'm not sure about Nisei considering that fansubs of that show already exist. It's possible though.
HnG did express that they would like to fansub the Ramenman anime after they've finished with Kinnikuman.
-
Well, I greatly appreciate your work, Tokoro Ataru. (is all caught up on onemanga)
And I enjoy the series but it sometimes seems so… corny? random? hax? all at the same time? Like how spinning turns back time, but only for some people. And how when Terryman fought asuraman, he "broke" both his arms by like running into a wall or something. O_O And then gets killed to death in the tag-team finals, but then gets better.
It's good, just... dated...

What I discovered with the series is simply this amidst all my yelling and screaming: Kinnikuman set up the rules for the manga (mostly shonen) of today. They didn't exist prior, so this would set up stuff that series like DB and even all of today's series (we know Oda and Kishi were both fans) would utilize. But unfortunately…when you look at some of what they did, it was trying too hard to be an "American comic-based manga", particularly with questionable moments like Iron Sweat...or the Hell Missionaries doing the "Superman bit" of reversing the Earth's rotation...or the bit in the Gold Mask arc where Buffaloman's arms are suddenly used by Terry.
-
OneManga is into the final arc of Kinnikuman, with the battle for the throne. It's actually really good. I've wanted to see the end of the original for a while.

(pops head in) Yeah it's good but really inconsistent in some ways. (that and every time the infernal Doctor Bombe pops up, I go crazy with the nonsense he pulls…luckily the scanslator hasn't gotten to my scripts yet for when Warsman returns) (pops back down)
-
hey Kaba Kaba Fruit! fancy seeing you here!!
Thanks for linking to our episodes! You'll be happy to know that episode 5 has just gone in for encoding!Fancy meeting you here, Wimmo.
As for where the scanslation project is: we're just finishing up the first round of the Throne, while I just finished the semi-final fight with Satan Cross. (going to take a bit of a break over Thanksgiving before continuing further though)
-
Oh! Hi there Ataru!
Hows your busy translation schedule keeping you? I'm really enjoying your work on the manga! Keep up the excellent work!I'm currently translating episode 6 and have also started translating the first movie so I know what it's like to be busy with various projects at once!!
-
I'm just finding this series. While it's get to see shonen history like this…it's pretty crazy how dated it is, like what was said above. These guys would make the head of anyone who ever complained about a fighter taking too much damage explode. They make Bleach's Kenpachi look...well normal.
Still, the crazy bullshit in these storylines is enjoyable on some level. The last fight with Robin Mask and Marposa was great.

I think the key regarding Kinnikuman is this: this started before stuff like "Hokuto no Ken" and "Dragonball" (heck, it started a half-year before even Dr. Slump) and helped to establish the "rules" and standards of Jump action series. A lot of the series was made up as the duo went along so there are a ton of inconsistancies and very WTF moments. (two words: Iron Sweat) But if you bare that in mind, it's still a fun, wild and importaint shonen series to read.
-
I was wondering, when VIZ stopped editing out the nudity and what not, did they go back and take out the edits from the previous volumes as well for future re-printings?

Sadly I dont think they did. They usually dont do that type of stuff and I dont know how popular the Kinnikuman manga was over here anyway. You can always read it online though.
-
Quick face flash: the final script is up on Mangahelpers. The original Kinnikuman is done courtesy of…well, me.
-
Found this thread.
I've been reading Kinnikuman from the beginning. I'm currently on Volume 4.
So far, the series is pretty amusing. And I'm aware things get more serious later on.
I'll keep reading.
-
im reading ultimate muscle vol 18
Jeager vs ricardo was a good chapter match and look forward to reading ricardo vs kid muscle in vol 19
-
Any idea where I can read this?
-
bumping this thread, anyone know where I can read the new kinnikuman Nisei chapters?
-
They got new chapters? I thoght it ended in the manga when kevin mask won the trojan crown. loved ultime muscle anime. even if it was the 4kids version.
-
Yeah man like three arcs after that. To find the chapters is proving hard though, and the translations seem impossible to find.
-
Yeah, Nisei kepst going with the Demon Seed arc and the (just as long if not longer than all of the original Nisei) Tag Team arc. (last I followed it was getting more convoluted though with certain Crown elements introduced and just going in a really weird direction though) It's just that no one wanted to animate/translate it further than that.
At least I did my job with the original. (even if I don't know if anyone will finish scanslating it)
-
Well, as of yesterday, it looks as though the scanlations for Kinnikuman have been complete. (At least, I assume so, unless there is a whole 'nother tankoban after 36.) Thank you, Stranger/Tokoro Ataru for your wonderful translations and Rodry Bones, Kazuhiko, and the others for completing the scanlations! Kinnikuman definitely has some weird and annoying moments, but it was a fun read, and Robin Mask is definitely on my favorite manga character list now. (My preferred annoyance would be this: After all the BS with Super Douchebag and his teammates getting having prior knowledge to specialized fighting rings with hidden tools and junk, as well as shortcuts to bypass any traps or tests in the castle, and Kinnikuman's team getting no knowledge of these things, the only unfair advantage that that a****** Harabote apologizes for is Phoenix being able to use Omegaman's corpse as a tool since he wasn't removed from the ring. This especially after Harabote starts counting for a ring-out when Kinnikuman goes to comfort Bibimba. I mean, I know that the Idol Choujin pull out some advantages like the Anoalo Staff and the Defend Suit, and Omegaman's corpse was likely the worst example, but it just irks me each time Super Phoenix's team gets all these hints beforehand on the battlefields, and the good guys don't, without a good reason for it.)
-
Actually, it seems we only have one more volume to go until the series is completely scanned
EDIT: Wiki says the series is 37 volumes, that's why I just assumed the series wasn't complete :/
-
Thanks to everyone who helped scanlate this. Corny as hell, but god did I have fun.
I loved the asspulls, the bullshit, the flat-out continuity contradictions, the manly tears, the friendship power, the power levels, all the battle shonen cliches that I would roll my eyes at anywhere else. There's just a sense of earnestness about Kinnikuman, which I guess comes from the fact that these weren't cliches when they were writing it. They were making this stuff up as they went along, and it's great.
-
You guys may not know this but Yudetamago revived the original manga and I was wondering where I can find raws.
-
With Kinnikuman finishing it's scanalation, I wonder if anyone will scanalate Kinnikuman Nesei?
-
Are there any scans of that 39th anniversary chapter floating around, where Kinnikuman fights all his old allies one more time, and then gets married? Because I found a random old Jump copy I have sitting around, with that in it. And if the internet needs it, I would be glad to try and scan it.
