So can I still say, "Welcome to the Arlong Park fold, enjoy your stay and etc?"
After I read the rules, I'm still wondering if I can say that or not. Since my statement really didn't apply to the rules that you posted.
Ummmmm….
Please just give the new members a nice warm welcome, offer help and suggestions if you like, ask some friendly questions about them if you like, and that's it.
I really don't think this could have been any better worded.

Ok, I believe that you are saying yes. I just didn't comprehend what you defined as not a welcoming statement or not.
Use common sense. It helps a lot. :happy:
Greet them like you'd greet someone in real life~ (That's best I can put it)
Ha ha, I just imagined…
In the airport:
Hey, welcome to the United States! Make sure not to violate the laws!
Hey, welcome to the U.S.! Hope you enjoy your stay. Here have a cookie made of human flesh! hits person with branding iron You're now a member of the Sierra Club! Oh, and don't forget to read all the laws and make sure you follow them!
I feel singled out. :(
:trades in branding iron on home tattoo kit:
Welcome to the Cuckoots Clan!! Currently in Imperial Valley, we are racists and kill mexicans who come to San Diego. Luckily, I have an american plaque!!
No way, they creeped me out. they were burning a guy nailed to a cross (he's mexican) and then ATE HIM!!!! :shock: Man, that's sick
I feel singled out. :(

I'm not singling you out…I don't want to see any more "religious cults" here either. XD Your branding was fine in the beginning but it spawned all sorts of other things. Edit: There, I expounded on that rule a bit. ;)
FoxyKaizoku, what the hell are you talking about?
Well, if you're from Mexico, try to go to San Diego or US with a mexican plaque, the "Cuckoots Clan" will hunt you down and try to kill you.. I know, it's weird
They have a small summit where they hideout and shit
And this has to do with the thread how?
And please do heed the rules, I already had to edit your last post in the intro forum.
You know, I never saw B1B's branding as a religious cult thing. He collected souls; he was a soul collector. It was more like a hobby. Eh, I'm just stating my opinion for no reason.
So we can say hi and that's it? We can't offer them food? We can't beat them up? We can't give them useless gifts? We can't make them feel that this is a forum where you can have fun and not a super-strict military school like most other forums?
You would have to be really wierd to see someone give a friendly welcome and think OMG IT'S A STRICT MILITANT BOARD!"
Use common sense, I left a lot of room for being friendly and creative. But no, you can't beat new people up, sorry.

Even Militant Boards have welcomes. It's not all drill sergants screaming at the top of their lungs.

Okay.
Question: why the news rules? I'm going to laugh my ass of if someone was offended by the "convert to Odaism" thing, or if someone was upset because someone typed punches you in the face as a reply to a post.
Wait, isn't B1B a girl? o_O
Hmm…. how do I greet people in real life for the first time?
"Welcome, you squid-bastard"!!
Bounty's a dude,
Anyways, I usually greet people in real life like 'Good Morning' and give them a firm handshake.
As for the new rules, I don't mind it myself, nice to have the forums change, besides things were starting to get a lil old with everyone being a Emotionless Cyberman whose soul has been sent to Arlong and also seems to have a large collection of whatever everyone else gives out.
I'm really uninformed…
We can't make them feel that this is a forum where you can have fun and not a super-strict military school like most other forums?
Really strict boards don't have intro threads. :o
Thank god. That shit was getting old. Even if pirateneko's comic about jango was really funny, but yeah good riddance.
This is the deal - Intro forum is for the new people to make their presence known, and for the current members to make them feel welcome. It is not for the board member's amusement, or to use as an excuse to post random things that aren't allowed anywhere else. Not everyone was doing that, many times the threads just got too out of control where the person introducing themselves hadn't even been in the thread for a long time and people were just using the threads to goof off in.
Also, like Taboo said, just think of how what you do when people introduce themselves in real life. What do you do? Probably not jokingly threaten to beat them up or try to get them to join a fake cult or whatever…theyr'e too new to really know what the heck you are talking about.
Maybe we should do the newbie adoption idea that we used to do on another board, where older members can adopt newbies and make friends, and show them the ropes around the board.
@B1B:
I feel singled out. :(
aww, I still cherrish my branded ass B1B. :)
@cosmic:
FoxyKaizoku, what the hell are you talking about?
ha ha, you read my mind. Still bizzare even after explained. sounds like the KKK, but isn't that kind of thing ilegal?
@jango:

eaww, i got demon butcher cooties.
@cosmic:
It is not for the board member's amusement
Um, I come to AP for amusement. :P ha ha, ya ya, I know your trying to make a point, sorry, I had to say it.
I actually enjoyed all the silliness when I joined. Though, not everyone has a wierd sence of humor, and from what I heard, certain things were going overbored. If certain things are bothing people, then it is not fun for everybody, and that defeats the point of AP. So, I understand.
Yes AP is for our amusement (within certain boundries) - but my point is the intro thread is not about you, the older member and how you can use it to amuse yourself. There's plenty of other threads to do that. Not everyone likes that kind of behavior, so forcing it on people that you don't know isn't really wise.
"yes mom" wonders if she knew I was teasing, or if she just re stated my other comment to verify. :)
I knew you were teasing, but you brought up a good point so I wanted to clarify it. XD
I'm actually really glad this is gone, too. I never actually made an introduction thread, but if I had and I got branded, robotized, or whatever, I probably would not have come back to this site as readily, thinking that people always acted like that one hundred percent of the time. I have nothing against these people, because now I know they can be at least moderately serious at times, but if that was my very first impression not only of those people, but of the board itself, it wouldn't exactly be a good one.
To put it plainly, this is my interpretation of this new rule, be it what the mods intended or no: This form of welcoming has the potential to scare people away, even if it's one person in 6 billion. I'm pretty sure that not being attacked by cults (be they jokes or no) is not exactly a reason for someone to be scared away, and it makes more sense to me to go with the route that will get us (and keep us) the most new people.
Guess I better turn in my stuff too. turns in the exploding-chainsaw bazooka, numerous knives, recipe cards for gerbil skins and ox nards, broken light brights, deep-fried broken light brights, solid gold condoms, and Odaism and Usoppism phamplets
So long, old friends.
If i joined and had all that crap thrown at me, I'd probably leave right away.
My anti-branding spray has no purpose anymore…..I'M RUINED! sulks
I always hated the whole copy/paste, rinse/repeat introductions. I mean, why bother welcoming someone, if it's in such an impersonal, souless manner?
"thank You Come Again"
Well i'm branding myself as a Jack Ass, plain and simple.
Hi everyone !
I'm Dr. Fred (yeah like the one in Day Of The Tentacle ) !
I'm french and I wanted to see your vision of one Piece.
So I'm gonna spend some time around if you don't mind !:ninja:
I'm a huge fan of One Piece, my favorite character is Sanji (don't blame me, he's a perfect french stereotype !).
I spend some time on Photoshop, at work, and I've been doing some colorisations since last year on my spare time…:happy:
I'm also a member of the Project-Lorenor Team, a great french scanlation team !
So See You !
Welcome Dr. Fred, although you should have made your own topic in the Introduction forum.
My own topic, just to say hello ?
Ok, I'll see that !
Hm, guess its' time to close this thread.
