Whjat would happen if a merman ate a zoan fruit? Would they have more than the standard three forms? Like, a fish/animal and a human/animal? It confuses me.
Throughout this month, we will be testing new features (like search) so you may experience some hiccups from time to time. We'll try to not be too disruptive...

hmm.. another thought.. i thought those eating DF is useless under water.. hmnn. but merman are capable of breathing underwater.. they would stay alive though even if they are not able to swim.. i mean..

They CAN move (Luffy covered his mouth when Arlong threw him in the water) but since they lose their strenght there's not much they can do…

About whether DF users will sink underwater is a bit of a debate. You see, when Higuma threw Luffy into the sea, Luffy was flailing around on water and crying for help, saying he can't swim; he did not sink. Yes, Luffy already ate the fruit.

Yeah they'd not be able to do alot underwater… but since their like 28937593793[whatever] X stonger then a human maybe it wouldn't cramp them as bad and they COULD move? if they got a zoan that was anotherr type of fish… as odd as that is it might be to their advantage..
if it was the humanhuman fruit.. well there would be a very unhappy merperson? XD
mermen still confuse me.. like the one in the DBF match who was half giant half mudfish... I mean... wtf...

I've always thought that if you give a merman a devil fruit, they'd end up with about average human swimming abilities. Many people might counter, "Well, then there's really nothing bad about them eating one, is there?"
Think about it. They are so much stronger underwater. If you take that strength away, not only is it embarrasing (imagine what Arlong would do to you!) but it's like cutting off a professional runner's leg and telling him to walk it off. There's no way they'd be used to that little strength.
Anyway, about Mermen eating Zoan fruit: I hope so. That'd be soooooooo cool. 6 forms instead of 3? And imagine if they ate a Rumble Ball!

Here's a crazy thought. What if there were a devil fruit that turned you into a half fish creature? Would the "water rule" still apply. if it did, that would kind of suck.
