April Fools' Joke

it is necessary for us to inform you that this forum is currently undergoing a massive and complicated legal issues and may be forced to shut down in the near future.

within the past few hours, there have been shockingly unpleasant events that happened to the admins and members of the AP board. we received news from a source we cannot disclose that battle franky had been taken in for questioning by authorities in penrith for distributing illegal RAWs of one piece in this forum. oceanizer had also been taken in for hosting illegal RAWs and MP3s in http://raws.kefi.org/. jonas and WZ could not be contacted, but we're assuming that similar incident might have happened to them as well, since they are the site and board owner, respectively.

as for us that's left, we don't really know if this is a part of a worldwide collaboration to crack down on the illegal distribution of RAWs and MP3s (remember we've heard that three men in japan had been arrested for similar cause), or if it's just due to violations of terms of use, since hosting companies always have a clause in the agreement which states that the hosting should not be used to distribute copyrighted materials. we do NOT know much details about what is going on, as i have just heard about this very recently, but we are expecting the worst, which is the complete shutdown of this forum and arlongpark's mainsite. if this does happen, and we somehow managed to get a new APforums up, we will NOT be hosting RAWs or even distributing links to RAWs to prevent this from happening again.

some associated sites such as KF and NULL have not experienced this, as far as i know, but it is quite possible that they might be forced to shut down as well. i will NOT claim anything since i know very little. i just felt that it is my duty as a fellow moderator to inform you forum members about this and be as careful as possible. i have been unable to get a hold of konis from NULL and dythim from KF, so i do not know anything about their situation.

again, we advise that you be cautious when browsing this forum. i have been unable to gather information on whether or not they might get member information from the database (if it's at all possible, i have very limited knowledge about how forums work) since i have limited privilege as a moderator. please do not jump into conclusions. other moderators or i myself will try to keep you guys updated regarding this matter, when we hear more about this.~~

If not for Arlong Park, I'd probably have let OP drop when it fell off 4kidsTV. I would not own any merchandise; I wouldn't be waiting for the promised Arlong-design action figure, and there certainly wouldn't be nine books of it sitting on top of my tape deck and a tenth in the mail. OP's a lot more fun when you share it with like-minded friends.

The media companies have to tread a fine path between killing off a community which can become as much a draw as your product itself (admit it: OP is more fun when you discuss it, or share fanart-fanfic…) and protecting largely hypothetical sales (will every scan reader/fansub viewer turn into a paying customer? Ha!)

Still, I'm not fully convinced that this is an April Fools prank. But if it is, it's not funny in the least. I'll wait and see what happens.

It's not fake. It could happen to anyone. My cousin has always been in trouble with the law over various things. A few months ago, it got so out of hand that he was finally taken by the A.S.S.H.O.L.E. After several hours, he was released, but totally changed. He's been watching his ass ever since. Those guys are brutal.
