Franky's Father

So what do we know about Franky's father?

1. Was on the Grand Line
2. Abandoned Franky, because he was too much to handle.

Now for Franky to have reached Water 7, but his father to not have lived there. I believe Franky's Father must have been a Pirate. A mean pirate, willing to get rid of his own son. Plus for Franky to be how he was as a kid, you would think he would have some negative, pirate influence to make Cannons and such.

Well, anyone else think it may be possible that… Buggy the Clown is Franky's father?

-Both are humourous.
-Both have Blue Hair
-Both have similar facial structures
-Buggy's best thing is the Buggy Bomb. Maybe even Franky made it as a kid?
-CuTTy Flam : BuGGy
-Buggy has stated he was on the Grand Line before.

So it was just a thought. But wouldn't it be interesting?

Just by reading that makes me think about Usopp's past, since both Usopp and Franky have a pirate for a dad. XD

Hey, do you think that both of their dads are on Shank's crew? Maybe Rockstar is Franky's real father. :ohmy: Rockstar doesn't look like he would abandon anybody, though.

Haha…never thought about that before. That would certainly be an odd plot twist. But we don't know who anyone except Usopp's parents are, and Robin's mom.

Shanks is 37 today, I think, so 20+ years ago, he'd be in his teens – Franky was with Tom for a couple years before G. Roger was executed, so that would make . I presume Buggy would be the same age, so unless that dorky little brat of a clown got lucky (very lucky), I doubt Buggy would be Franky's father. Interesting theory, and you never know with Oda, but I'm leaning towards a happenstance deal.

That, and the fact that Franky is 34 (12 years old 22 years ago). Unless Buggy flashily got down to business as a toddler, he couldn't be Franky's flashy father.

I've always had this odd thought in the back of my head of Spandain being Franky's father.. I got that when I noticed just how many physical similarities they share. I could make a better picture were I at home, but I'm not, so this is a quick picture I threw together.

Just look at the shape of the face and the nose, as well as those kickin' sideburns. And then, of course, the very similar way they hold their eyebrows and mouth. It just seems too similar to me for them to not be related in some way, I don't know. Nor do I know if anyone's mentioned this before, if so, sorry about using the same idea.

Nurlock, at least I didn't never noticed the similarities before and now that you mentioned it, yeah they do look a lot of like each others. But Franky's face has gone through a lot so it's a bit hard to tell. Could be just a coincidence, Oda's style doesn't necessarily vary enough from character to character, yet you also could had just hit the jackpot. Very nice.

Parents abandoning Franky because he was nuisance sounds a bit too rash but it's still quite plausible in a pirate world. What it also could had been is them saving Franky from pillage, plunder and rape of some random pirates which assaulted the ship they were on. You know, like the archeologist threw out the books, the parents threw out Franky so that at least he could have a chance to live on.

But I've a feeling we will never know.

Hahaha, that is such a whack theory that I really love it. True the age would speak against it, but then again if Buggy would have got a son at a very young age it would be only more of a reason to leave him behind because he wouldnÂ´t have any idea how to be a father at such age.

And letÂ´s not forget the temper of the both. Just compare BuggyÂ´s temper to when Franky begins to lose it when he thinks of what the Strawhats did to his Franky House and Franky Family.

And not to mention the noses. Ok, Franky doesnÂ´t have this red nose, but as a cyborg he doesnÂ´t have a normal nose either.

This theory is fun. Not that it has to be true but if it would be like that IÂ´d have no problems with it. :laugh:

Well yes Tom assumes that but this could easily be a false track from Oda. I mean such a behaviour fits pirateÂ´s more then noble WG agents, but then again the WG has also guys like Spandain on their side.

IÂ´m not saying that Spandain is his father, itÂ´s just that normally you donÂ´t go around say "such a rotten behaviour is WG agent style". At least not at that part of the story where Tom made that comment. :biggrin:

Well, all I hope is Franky gets some kind of twist.

Since he will most likely be a Strawhat, and his past was revealed… They need some kind of connection involving him in the future.

Luffy- Most of his past is unknown. Too many connections to name off.
Nami- Had her whole arc. Arlong and his island.
Zoro- Had his flashback, and his future meeting with Mihawk again for the title.
Sanji- Had his arc, along with his flashback.
Chopper- Had his arc, along with flashback.
Usopp- Had his arc, along with flashback. Also has future of meeting his Father.
Vivi- Had her arc, a long arc. She is no longer part of the SH.
Robin- Currently having her arc, had her flashback.

Franky- Flashback, nothing to look forward to in the future, plot-wise.

Do I really hope his father, or someone related to him appears. Franky who was abandoned by his father, you would think would want revenge.

Well, I wouldn't say it couldn't be, because for some reason or another it could, but is there really a need for that? Just as with many other scenes we haven't seen any confirmation for, the best idea is to trust a character, especially pure/role-model/father or mother-figure ones as if they were speaking on Oda's behalf, because they really are.

IÂ´m sorry but where is Franky different from Nami, Sanji, Chopper and Robin in your list? You say that thereÂ´s nothing to look forward plotwise for Franky and yet for Nami, Sanji, Chopper and Robin you didnÂ´t bring any example of how they are different to him. :blink:

In the end I'm a bit more interested of how Franky spented those four years off the Water 7, and why he decided to come back, than of who his father is. Unless he's somebody important, of course. Still, I don't think we ever would get an answer.

Before he was abandoned I'm pretty sure he lived most of his life in the sea though. Remember the line after he had survived from the sea train, and he had came across with an unoccupied ship: This is a place I'm comfortable in… He might had grew up on a ship, from a newborn, and that's why it's feels like a comfortable place for him to be. Now if this has any ground behind it, his father might have been indeed a pirate, or at least, he had made living on a ship (a shipwright too?).

Well I mean, I'm one of the people who also believes you could make an argument for Kuina being alive (or should I say, be allowed to ^o^) so yeah, I also agree that it could be taken another way.

Does anyone think Franky's aging halted when he turned himself into a cyborg? The robot parts wouldn't be able to grow with the body, would they? Unless he rebuilds himself every couple years.

If franky really wanted to he could make himself look young for the rest of his life but seeing as he changed his appearance to suit his age he may just add on a white beard once he reaches the age of 60

Sorry, couldn't resist. However, Spandam being his father would be quite like Star Wars, and I know Oda has to be influenced by something. I mean, the main enemy is the father of the person…and we all know Franky hates him. Just a thought. If that makes any sense.
