So Viz got rid of the "Pirate Summit" fiasco, huh? Ah, well, they did keep most of the original meaning. But Pola… Come ON. By the way, Flame Flame Fruit? Seriously? Because if so, then that means that 4Kids translated that name better then Viz when they called it the Flare Flare Fruit. (Mera is the sound effect for something bursting into flames, i.e., flaring up.)

So basically I only just got my Jump but was still the only one to notice the completely awesome BOWGUN ON FIRE edit in Yu Yu Hakusho?

@The:
The proprieter of Spider's cafe and the alias of Ms. Doublefinger.
Okay, I thought so, but I wasn't 100% sure.
-
Not sure if this has been brought up before but I just noticed today that the first volume of One Piece is in its tenth printing as of Nov. 2007. Didn't it reach it's ninth earlier that year?
-
Yes sir, it did. This is awesom news for me as I've been keeping track of that sort of thing for a while now. Hopefully Viz will begin using Zoro again…soon...maybe...hopefully...
-
I kinda doubt it…despite getting uncut DVD's, the edited TV dub is still gonna be the most watched thing, so they will wont to keep continuity.
Maybe in the future when CN and Toei starts letting Zoro and such in...but I doubt it.
-

I'm not quite sure what I'd think if that happened. On one hand, "Zolo" does sound really freakin' stupid, but I also hate inconsistency, so I'd rather they keep it as it is. (But then again, they DID use Zoro at first, though none of my graphic novels have that spelling in them.)
-
Reprintings could fix that.
-
The only thing about the Repriting thing is, that'd make the value of the "Zolo" ones go up, since they're limited.
-
Viz could just change it back to Zoro and say it was a spelling error. A 3 year spelling error. That'll cover their asses, right?
-
Well hey, more money for those who own the Zolo printings.
-
@Yuugi's:
Reprintings could fix that.
What I meant is, I wouldn't want 16 volumes where they call him Zolo, then randomly changing to Zoro at volume 17. And I sure as hell won't bother buying them all again just to get some consistency. And even with reprintings, it's not like all the old releases will just dissapear. They'd still be around, just like it's still possible to find older printings of any other series. (I know that my copy of Volume 4 is older than my other volumes, as it has the old black cat-logo Viz used before.) They should just stick to the spelling they're using.
-
Zolo! Time to golo!
I always thought 4Kids changed the name to Zoro just for the sole purpose of that line.
I can't see Viz changing it back to Zoro though. The printing error thing was just a joke I was making anyway.
-
Got my issue.
The Bleach art edits continue to make me chuckle. Grimmy no get to flip the bird. XD
I wonder why they don't edit the cleavage in One Piece while they do in Bleach, probably cause of OP's artstyle.
Speaking of cleavage, the movie 8 ad made me lol.

Hagiri's handgun got edited into a completely awesome BOWGUN ON FIRE. They didn't even erase the darn thing's barrel.

when has SJ.com put the manga online? They've had their "online manga section" for a while now. Most of it doesn't even work for me though, not even on their updated version of the website. They really only have the first chapter though or even less for the series' that are on there. It's really more of just a sample for people to see if they want to start reading the series'.

Simon Says is listing Volume 19 as coming out in October. So that's like a grand total of three books this entire year.
http://www.simonsays.com/content/book.cfm?tab=1&pid=628609
They're also going to release the first Bleach artbook the same month as well. Hopefully Color Walk II comes out next year.
-
Well, with how Viz's OP covers are…safe to say volumes 21 and 22 aren't gonna fit together and form a bigger picture.
Unless they do something special for them, which I doubt.
-
So that's like a grand total of three books this entire year?
Fuuuuck. Didn't we used to get four?
I really, really hope Viz just skips over Skypiea and release it via graphic novel format while in Jump they serialize from Davy Back Fight and onward after Alabasta.
-
I don't see that happening unless OP gets popular like Naruto and Bleach.
-
Well hey, that's just the way life is.
-
@Brad:

I believe it sort of alternates each year. While Japan gets either four or five Viz goes by three or four due to the fact that they release Jump monthly. It's just something I noticed while looking through this page.
-
I just saw a "limited edition" version of volume 1 with a holographic cover in a Virgin Records store. It used "Zoro". It said it was one of the first 500 printings of the volume, so I guess they just found some left over ones from 2005 in the back room and decided to put them out.
Anybody else see these? It was rather odd.
-
I saw some of those holographics covers of Yu-Gi-Oh but that was years ago. I have noticed that the local Waldenbooks has stocked some hardback copies of Bleach and Naruto Vol. 1.
edit: What the hell? Amazon's has those limited edition books listed for release in 2010.

A new shonen sensation in Japan, this series features Monkey D. Luffy, whose main ambition is to become a pirate. Eating the Gum-Gum Fruit gives him strange powers but also invokes the fruit's curse: anybody who consumes it can never learn to swim. Nevertheless, Monkey and his crewmate Roronoa Zoro , master of the three-sword fighting style, sail the Seven Seas of swashbuckling adventure in search of the elusive treasure "One Piece."
Uh, what? It must be some error, amazons made mistakes before right? I mean, how likely is it that they'd actually re-release it?
EDIT: Why is that the only version of Vol. 1 on the entire site?
-
Yeah Amazon is just run terribly. Simon Says is a much more reliable place and it lists the Limited Edition as being released back in 2003 and with no copies in stock.

Well, with how Viz's OP covers are…safe to say volumes 21 and 22 aren't gonna fit together and form a bigger picture.
Why not? The covers are practically the same as the japanese ones… Or do you mean that because they tend to make them a bit smaller than the japanese ones, and therefore they might not touch the edges of the books?
-
I was taking about how 21 and 22 aren't in a box, but actually come out to the sides of the cover. Maybe Viz will do it like that, but I'm not sure.
-
I honestly don't know what to bug VIZ about anymore; if I should put all my energy into getting "Zolo" back to "Zoro" (There is NO FUCKING REASON they shouldn't: 1- They were the ones who started with Zoro in the first place, 2- Now that FUNi's in the reigns, it's only a matter of time before they're the only ones calling him "Zolo" 3- …..Come 'ooooooooon) or to get them to start releasing the novels faster (I'm not looking forward to entering Thriller Bark in my late 30's. Hell, by then the series might have finished! Oh, and as for this "OP isn't popular enough" bullcrap, it also isn't NOT POPULAR enough to merit at least a sped-up schedual. God Forbid more chapters in ASJ?!)?
I just wish I could get them to sit down with me face to face and have a spirited debate on the whole matter. Sending in E-Mails or Letters are too easily ignored.
-
Viz is just being too conservative regarding the whole OP situation. While they literally jump ahead with something like Naruto, OP now just starting Alabasta and still being in the deep of it by the end of this year just feels wrong. It just shows you that the series is just the "forgotten stepchild": Viz doesn't control everything like they do with Naruto, Bleach and Death Note, so as long as they do the bare minimum to satisfy the fanbase instead of growing it with mass releases, they're happy.
-
Viz drops Hikaru no Go from the Magazine and will replace it with Slam Dunk.
-
CRAP!
Now I'll have to wait longer for HnG. Shoot!
As for One Piece, it get's 3-4 chapters a month, THAT'S GOOD! HnG and YYH normally get but two and Bô^7 and GX get but one.
-

All of AP should just create a video of everyone giving all the things they're doing wrong and why, and what to do about it. And then show everyone saying how much they love OP to show that it is popular.

Viz drops Hikaru no Go from the Magazine and will replace it with Slam Dunk.
Dammit, Dammit, Dammit! HnG was like the only manga I look forward to reading in there. I don't want to have to get the graphic novels.
-
Viz drops Hikaru no Go from the Magazine and will replace it with Slam Dunk.
That's awesome news. I really dig Hikaru no Go, and I don't really collect the magazine. So hopefully this means quicker releases after Volume 13 comes out. It's been a pain with the long waits between volumes.
I also really like Slam Dunk, but I'm okay with them putting it in the magazine. It should help it gain more exposure in the west, while Hikaru no Go has already received plenty of that.
-
I was taking about how 21 and 22 aren't in a box, but actually come out to the sides of the cover. Maybe Viz will do it like that, but I'm not sure.
But why do you think that Viz won't keep it like that? They haven't actually changed the layout on the covers before, just recolored the logo, removed the Kana on top of it, and added the volume-number and all that stuff on the bottom. And despite volume 21 and 22 not having the typical box-design, they're not exactly the only books where the image touches the edges of the cover.
-
I'll post the cover in a bit, to issue 64 I mean.
-
Sort of surprised they're replacing HnG with Slam Dunk, but its such a big series in the original magazine and Inoue is such a well known mangaka that somehow it makes sense. At least HnG could come out sooner now.
-
Four Naruto, two One Piece/HnG/Bleach, one Bô^7/GX/Gun Blaze West Preview/YHH.
-
What the hell are they doing with Yu Yu Hakusho?
It's been over in Japan for over a decade, so it's not like they've got to wait for new material. The anime has been over in the US for years.
Seriously, Viz. I'm not saying you have to go Graphic Novel with it, but at least release more of it. Is 3 chapters a month really that much to ask?
-
Well, chances are Viz is busy or what have you.
-
@Yuugi's:
Four Naruto, two One Piece/HnG/Bleach, one Bô^7/GX/Gun Blaze West Preview/YHH.
Seriously? This issue is going to be skimpy. The least they could have done was have had either One Piece or Bleach have 3 chapters and the other have 2. And Naruto will only have 4, instead of 5 too… I know they have to fit it scheduled to the manga volume... but seriously. This is going to be a pretty small issue.
-
There's a preview chapter this issue and Naruto has to stay on it's bi-monthly schedule so all the others get screwed in one or another you know business as usual.
-

It all totals up to 14 chapters, though. Viz could easily fit one or two more in the issue.
Like, additional chapters of One Piece and YYH.
-
Well, being only 376 or so pages long of course they could of fit in more but the thing is they don't care so long as they get their volumes in one or five issues.
EDIT: Toh Toh is the romanization they went with, as well as Erumalu.
