This honestly didn't surprise me. "Zolo" has been the only name ever under the magnifying glass, but I won't go trying to zombify that horse for the Lord-knows-how-much-teenth time.
Wow, I can't believe Viz actually used "Oh come my way". I've heard that phrase a lot here on the forum, but this is the first time I've seen it officially used. When was it first thought up?
Bon Kurei says it quite often in his song. "Oh come my way" is part of the lyrics, along with "Okama Way."
Also, I don't mind "Portgaz", although I would prefer "Portgas", but it seems that Viz is getting kinda weird with their S's and Z's. In the latest FMA they called Kimblee, "Solf J. Kimblee". Most of the time the fansubs and even Funimation used a Z. I guess S and Z are interchangable, but it's almost like Viz is trying to spite the fans.
In that case, it isn't. It's just retard translating on Viz's part. For FMA, they couldn't decide on whether to go with Ishval, Ishavar, Ishbal or Ishbar. They went through about two or three different names until sticking with Ishbal.

I know. What do you think about the edits in One Piece? I for one don't mind them, having started my OP experience with Viz's editions and then finding scans.
So glad that I entered into the fandom through Viz/Shounen Jump rather than 4kids. I don't mind many edits that've been seen along the way, though one that rankles me a little is the Logue Town thing.
Dialogue could always need a brush up in some places though.
And when this manga closes out, and Luffy's arm stretches back to deliver that last punch, I wanna feel the crunch of the dream coming true.
Yeah and typos are annoying. I much prefer Sanji's crap lines over the regular ones because it just sounds funnier to me.

Really? Oh, nevermind then. This is the second issue of Jump that I've purchased (ever), and from the character bios in each issue, it looked like they referred to them as Cursed Fruits.
Also, the fact that Captain Smoker IS Smoker is awesome, too. I guess Viz decided not to follow along with 4kids' antics.

Also yeah, I've only read 5 (scattered) volumes of Viz HxH and it's one of their better translations imho, though a couple of the romantizations are very different from scans.
Eyeshield 21 and Death Note have/had awesom work, espicially Death Note considering the massive amount of dialogue there was only a few typos in the later three or four books and that's solely on the text retoucher guy person man.

I don't really think so. I believe their more like the Omnibuses one sees for Negima and Tsubusa. Now if Viz Big were like the Kazebans espeically the RK one I would get it in a flash but I just think it's the first three volumes of whatever manga it is.
Edit: Never mind. It does look like a Kazeban but I don't think the paper will be as nice as a true Japanese Kazeban is.
No, these omnibusses combine three regular volumes into one which means they will be nearly 600 pages each, which is probably twice what the Kazenban are over in Japan.

I still don't quite get why Vagabond is getting the Kazenban treatment here when its not even over yet in Japan. Maybe its just a means to further hype Inoue when Slam Dunk starts its Jump run. (just as long as it isn't Naruto I'm happy)

What annoys me about the smoking is that I got an issue of Shonen Jump once, and it had a little message about how Viz doesn't condone underage smoking. The only character in that whole issue of Shonen Jump that smoked was Sanji. And he's 19.:getlost:

I would like to know what the fuck happens to Shonen Jumps between their printings and being sealed in the plastic. All Shonen Jumps I have (least the ones in the last 2 years) have what looks like food stains on the pages, like orange splotches on a lot of pages.
This issue was really bad tho. Beyond most of the black having white streaks through it, some of the pages like when Bon Kurei was with the Straw Hats has a perfectly even line of dots going down the page, one line is purple, another is yellow, another is orange.
Seriously, this shit is a mess.
I got my issue today too and I was surprised they actually kept Ace. I was sure they'd call him Trace but nope, they used the original name. And they sorta mistranslated Bon Clay's style. They say he practiced Oh Come My Way style instead of Okama Way. I could see why they changed it though(I guess they couldn't use Okama and Okama Way kinda sounds like Oh Come My Way).

I might actually enter the Devil Fruit contest, although for an alterior motive. My entry'll look like this:

When I said Jump, I meant the GNs. (since Gutsoon did release it at one time before going under)
I'm not surprised they kept Ace myself. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that "FUNimation were planning to use the Viz names" and Ace was on the list of names they were going to use (though I may be wrong. It was about a year ago and I could have misread something).
anyone know why VIZ is waiting till the 2nd half of 08 before they start releasing Slam Dunk?
