I had a terrible day today. My apartment building burned down. All my stuff ruined by smoke. The fire seemed to have missed my apartment according to my landlord. I'm now staying with family friends. All I have with me now are just my wallet, apartment keys and the clothes and jacket I had when I went to work. It won't be till tomorrow the firemen and police said that I'll probably get to see if anything of mine is safe.
This was just a very terrible day for me today.=( =(
I'm guessing they have no idea what started it do they?
Did you have any valuable stuff or anything in the apartment because maybe insurance can pay for it.

Sugar, obviously that is some terrible news, hope everyone invloved was alright and if you have any one piece stuff, hope that survived too.
They're not sure at this point what started the fire but they believe it started in the boiler room and worked its' way up.
I have no apartment insurance as far as I know but I had quite a bit of stuff like new computer, tv, bed, 2 dressers, entertainment center, chairs, table, the usuals. I have 4 OP figures, 4 posters (one autographed by friends I made at a con) and 4 mangas. I'm hoping they are allright.

That's horrible. I'm so sorry that this happened to you. Hopefully you didn't lose anything that was really valuable. Do you have any idea of where you want to live now?

Everyone is all right. Only three people, including me, lived in the small apartment building. The fire apparently started after we all left for work after 7:30am.

Wow, that stinks I know how you feel about something happening and your valuables being gone or burned down it sucks cause all the great stuff you buy over the years are gone in one second.

It was good that everybody walked out ok quotes normyk. It sucks that everything turned out the way it did, but crap happens to everybody (even to the best of us sometimes).

Oh dear, what a thing to happen! Thank god, nothing happened to you. I hope something good will turn up to erase this horrible event.
My theory is that for every bad there is a good, so whenever something bad happens something good is just around the corner, kind of like carma but different in a way. So if something this bad happened to you then you are due for a really good thing sometime soon.

Tomorrow is when I go see what damage has been done and if anything can be used again. Still from what I saw in person, what my landlord saw and what I saw on the news, I can't believe that my apartment was somewhat spared from the disaster while the other two apartments (4 in all, 3 occupied, 1 being redone), were destroyed from what I heard. Some of my friends are saying that I had a guardian angel watching over. I even think it was the 5 figurines I had sitting on the computer workstation might have been my angels (4 OP and 1 Naruto figurines)
But I can't for sure say anything yet till I see the inside of the building tomorrow. I've been crossing my fingers that most of my stuff is safe.
And on a good note, I might be getting a new apartment in the next day or so. Hoping on that too.
Really bad news everyone. I got to see my apartment today and the entire building had severe destruction from the inside. My apartment wasn't hit by the fire but was destroyed by knee-height water damage. Most of the stuff was destroyed. New computer, PS2, entertainment center, chairs, tables, tv, dvd player, bed all gone. Some things like my digicam, OP merchandise (posters, figurines, manga), backpack w/ folders and binders of anime/cosplay stuff, cd player, cds, PS2 games and dvds (complete Nadia dvd collection 1&2 destroyed) survived. They stink of smoke but that should either be easy to clean or will eventually disappear.
I'm now calling my Temari and Luffy figurines my guardian angels cause they didn't recieve a scratch or damage of any kind.
On a good note, I have a new apartment and will be moving in on Saturday. My folks are helping me out by buying some new stuff, my sister and brother-in-law are sending me money to buy a new computer and my uncle is also sending some money.
And the fact I'm alive is always good.
That doesn't sound so bad. Looks like things are going to work out for you.

well if the fire is the owners fault then sue then settle and get the money for your stuff back =) (unless he justs gives you money for your stuff)
