Best and Worst Parts

Here's a good topic. List anime you like and then name the best part and the worst parts about it. By the way if you have "Nothing" to say for Worst, then don't use that anime. Makes the topic too boring if you ask me.

I'll start:

Yu Yu Hakusho
Best: Story, fight scenes, great villains, great cast.
Worst: Genkai "comes back" sort of ruining the death. Last saga feels A BIT rushed. Animation in some episodes really bad.

S-CRY-ed
Best: Action, characters, story, highly enjoyable soundtrack.
Worst: Some episodes take 3 views to understand. (it might be the dub though)

G Gundam:
Best: Fun, imaginative. Great designs, characters, and music.
Worst: ULTRA Cheesy at times.

One Piece:
Best: Great epic, funny, straight out bizarre
Worst: Some parts really drag out, flashbacks are too long for my tastes.

Dragonball/Z:
Best: Action, memorable characters
Worst: LONG fights, HORRID filler (anime), Goku and Vegeta pass everyone in strength making everyone else utterly useless.

Tenchi Muyo!
Best: Funny, great animation, character designs.
Worst: Too damn long to finish something so short. Washu wasn't in it until episode 5.

Tenchi Universe:
Best: Has complete story, still funny, still good character designs, Katsuhito and Nobiyuki got to be IN the story for a change.
Worst: Animation isn't AS good. Washu wasn't in the bikini episode. >_>

Outlaw Star:
Best: Awesome characters, story, funny, designs, music…
Worst: Animation changes from episode to episode, sometimes for the worse.

Bubblegum Crisis (original):
Best: Freaking awesome soundtrack. Animation is great, and still holds up. Great Japanese voice cast.
Worst: Short. Some parts in the first couple of episodes drag a bit. The dub voice acting.

Ranma 1/2-
Good: Bizarre story, great humour.
Bad: Repetitive, no plot or character development
Worst: THE ENDING.

Inuyasha:
Best: Koga, Totosai, Miroku
Worst: Everyone else

Naruto:
Best: Good character designs, interesting characters, some pretty unique techniques, some pretty awesome fights
Worst: More interesting characters just left in the dust for the sake of the bland main characters, Naruto NEVER CHANGES, Sasuke is a dumb bitch, the Chase Sasuke arc dragged out, the Grandma and Sakura vs. Chucky fight was way too long and really boring, and ROCK LEE NEVER GETS TO WIN. GODDAMN.

Fullmetal Alchemist:
Best: Pretty cool characters, very unique concept, pretty good story
Worst: The anime feels waaaay too dramatic sometimes and kind of goes off on its own tangent, and CHARACTER DEATHS.

Rurouni Kenshin:
Best: Kyoto Arc, pretty awesome characters, good development, great plot and backstory.
Worst: Goes a little overboard with the development and flashbacks sometimes (What I mean to say is, I think its unnecessary for every goon that Kenshin beats to have a long sob story), anime magically transforms into utter shit after the Kyoto Arc (Feng Shui fighters? c'mon), and animators chose not to follow and animate the final arguably the greatest saga of the series (though in their defense, at the time they'd have no idea how good the story is).

[Senshi Mizaka]

Evangelion:

Good: Some entertaining characters and battles. And an interesting plot.

Bad: Gets confusing towards the end because of the religious symbolism. Shinji is a whiney wuss who never changes. (No offense, AWB1) And please don't get me started on the ending.

Fullmetal Alchemist

Good:Can't think of anything
Bad:Worst manga to anime adaptation ever made anything you saw in the manga only 45% of that happens in the anime even if these parts do happen they're altered in some way i.e. Scar Killing Shou Tucker, Al Hurting Ed's feelings after he thinks Ed created fake memories for him.

Naruto

Good: Voice Acting (original & dub) & music
Bad: New Opening(s) & Ending(s) for the dub,Mispronouciation of certain names(dub),Godawful/Contradicting filler episodes/Arcs.

Hellsing

Good:Music & Animation
Bad: Samething as FMA, they really dropped the ball on this.

[Doskoi-Pandaman]

Death Note (Manga
Good: Very good writing, excellent tension, a good view of an Anti-hero/justice seeking protagonist
bad: veeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrry drawn out at time
worst:near and mellow that whole angle kinda sucks, L was waaaaaay cooler.

[Satsuki]

Naruto
Good: Great characters, good drama/humor, fantastic music.
Bad: Fights get drawn out and boring/repetitive, sadly fell down the black hole of shonen mediocrity.

Bleach
Good: Great art with funky style, imaginative weapons, great and entertaining characters, jaw-dropping plot twists.
Bad: A little too stereotypical shonen, especially in the fighting. Not enough development for some of the minor characters.

One Piece
Good: Perhaps one of the greatest shonen epics of all time, great humor, extremely memorable and sympathetic characters.
Bad: Artwork isn't for everybody, beginning is very slow and a little boring.

Fullmetal Alchemist (anime)
Good: Fun and sympaethic characters, interesting plot, great drama.
Bad: Got too bogged down by the drama and the ANGST. Kinda lost the science aspect of it. (and no Ling!)

Yakitate!Japan
Good: side-splitting humor, wacky characters, genuinely interesting food facts.
Bad: Sometimes the jokes just don't work or go over your head, Kawachi always seems to get a bum deal.

Honey and Clover
Good: beautiful artwork, good humor, impactful musings on life and love.
Bad: A little too "deep" at times, relationships don't get fully worked out in the end, Hagumi is WAY TOO young-looking and childish for an 18-20 year old.

Worst: The Ranma cast stars in a horror-action-type shonen.

Worst: Naruto, and the forced feel I got from it

Good: Beginning is very, very captivating. Same goes for main plot events.
Bad: Dragging out, hard to understand, and EVERYONE WHO'S BISHONEN IS IMPORTANT. WTF.

Bleach:
Good: Cool battles and Hollows. Comedy gold.
Bad: Predictable plot and too many bishonen+fanservice. Main villain not interesting (Aizen=stereotypical Bishie!Evul!PowaHungry!guy)

worst: watanuki, and sometimes the story is too complicated (for me at least =P)

Turned into DBZ….I don't really agree with that.

I agree that the fighting sort of resembled it, but they DO state that S-Class is the highest class and those last fights are S-Class fights...they don't just magically out of nowhere pass that level like they do in DBZ all the time. Also the last saga is just like all the others, the previous ones built up to it. YYH, has a nice planned out story, DBZ was planned out up to Freiza, but it had to keep going so thus "New stronger villians" kept appearing.

I'll try one, although to be honest OP is the series I've read the most of, and that's only the equal of 9 books.

Hellsing (from vol. 1)

Best part: Character design, somewhat 'edgy' feel. The whole relationship between Alucard and Police Girl is the key to the latter.

Worst part: Looming feeling it's gonna become very heavily religiously-symbolic, to the point where you'll have to carry a bible for reference.

Yusuke really being the ancestor of TEH DEMON KING or whatever was one of the stupidest plot twists ever.

[Retro]

Dragonball:
(Original)Best: Great story and retelling of Journey to the West, Fun characters, the Dr. Slump crossover and great battles
Worst: Anime has one to many fillers, drawn out in a few areas (the first martial arts tournament for example), series lose a bit of it charm in the final arc.
(DBZ)Best: Love the Sayian, Garlic (You read right) and Cell Sagas.
Worst: Long DRAWN out battles and story elements (especailly in the Freiza Saga), some characters introduced only to never really have much of an impact in the series, too much focus on Goku and Vegeta (practilly snatched the spotlight away in the Buu Saga) as well as the whole power level deals. Not much of an ending.
(GT): Best: A nice blend of both series style, short story arcs, closeure. Worst: Writers couldn't seem to fully run with their plot, last battle could've been a tad more epic.

Inuyasha:
Best: First few stories were fun when they were just taking on random demons and searching for jewel shards….
Worst: ....Then he comes Naraku and he becomes too much of the focus of the series. What worse is how long they drag out most of the storyline only for him to get away and become more powerful. Plus not alot of character depth.

One Piece
Best: Fun characters, interesing settings, great battles, tons of varity, every character (even minors) has a purpose in the story and grows over time.
Worst: Story arcs (especially Skypeia) can get a little drawn out sometimes and the anime could cut back some on the fillers.

Ruroni Keshin
Best: Anime improves on the manga (the parts they adapted anyway), great characters, story arcs save for Kyoto aren't very long, and cool battles sequences.
Worst: Everything after Kyoto in the anime is filler (never got around to adapting the rest of the manga I heard), and I REFUSE to accept the ending in the OVA.

Yu Yu Hakusho
Best: Interesting premise, great characters, cool battles, hardly any filler (which is ironic if you read the manga), anime drasticly improves on the manga.
Worst: That I prefer the anime over the manga (LOL). Never got around to last story arc due to Toonami pulling the plug on the show (why they move it there in the first place?!)

Tenchi Series:
(OVA) Best: Love it, first serious anime I got into, Washu! Worse: A tad too weird for me (which is saying something), ended on a cliffhanger though I heard recently they were finishing this, Kiyone not offically canon in this one (sob).
(Universe)Best: A complete story which toned down the weirdness, second fave Tenchi girl: Kiyone!, dug the second half of it. Worst: Some corny episode here and there.
(In Tokyo)Best: Found Yugi and her backstory interesing, a lot more comical, liked the new designs, love the final battle. Worse: First few episodes are blah, Sakura wasn't much and can see her use coming a mile away.

Shaman King:
Best: Funny and interesing, liked some of the designs, great fights, second half really kicks up the plot.
Worst: Hao (a.k.a Zeke) is this version Naraku,

! the manga doesn't have an offical ending.

Best: Intriging plot, cool characters, great action with a blend of science
Worst: Ed isn't much in a real fight, too much angst not enough comedy, the manga has better storylines am sorry to say.

DragonBall (manga)

Good - Nice story, Fun Characters,
Bad - You really aren's given anytime to enjoy a character
(namely the villians) due to the fact that their appearances are limited drastically (Pilaf/Colonel Silver),Some parts or fights tend to be on the short side & can sometimes be over a bit too quickly which keeps them from being completely memorable (Muten Roshi vs Daimao/Vegetto vs Super Buu./Goku traveling on Snake Road,Piccolo & Gohan training.)

Yu-Gi-Oh! (Series 2)

Good - Memorable Duels, Great Arcs, likeable characters (not to a great extent)

Bad - Because of them dropping the ball on the first series and deciding not to Remake it it causes the 2nd Series to suffer a bit i.e. The First duel between Yugi & Seto feels a bit hollow due to fact that they covered the Death T-Games in the first series.

YYH seemed to rip off Z so much that it didn't even need to have Majin Yusuke 2. I liked it, but it was definitely a case of "Simpsons did it."

I think I would've liked Naruto a lot more if it focused on pretty much any other character. The main three are just the weakest, imo.

FYI Sakura is the weakest pre-3yr gap one thing makes you wonder if Kishimoto will continue giving other characters bigger roles like in the "Hunt For Sasuke" arc.

I meant weakest as characters. I think Shikamaru, Rock, and Neji should have been up front, since I feel they had the most potential.

I knew what you were referring to and I was just stating that Sakura's character is weak I mean during parts of the Chuunin Exam arc her character gains some strength to it but after that and until the Gap her character goes back to being weak.

Sakura's gotten a lot better, true, but a part of me feels like it's too little too late.

And I find it highly annoying that Kishimoto spent so much time developing his side characters (one of the big reasons to read/watch the series) then does almost nothing with them come time skip. Even if Team Gai got into the action in the Save Gaara arc, they didn't SAY anything! They only got that one joke at the end!

I know! It was like a waste…

Although, I don't know if he could do more with Lee. I mean, after his fight with Garra, what else is there? His past, his dream, and his insane dedication have already been established firmly by that fight, so a repeat of that would be overkill methinks. It would be interesting to see how he'd react if somthing serious happened to Gai or Sakura though.

However, I would like to see him WIN for once. JESUS! ><
