None of the programs feel the same! Even after you get everything reinstalled that you used to have, it still feels like someone else's computer :(
Oh well, it's mostly back to normal after one solid day's work. :| :| :| :|

Did you lose all your old files? That always sucks. I make sure I burn all my stuff to DVDs just in case. Otherwise, I enjoy a nice, clean hard drive, it's like a fresh start.
I lost a good chunk of my stuff. A few month's worth of music downloads (everything since the last time I updated my ipod), any manga scans that weren't on my backup drive, all the games and any translations I didn't have on my webpage… Most annoying of all is just trying to track down all the FTP logins and crap that I used for 2+ years without remembering what they are and stuff.
That, and I had a Tokyopop assignment to turn in today. Good thing my boss is understanding.
But yeah, from now on it's backing up FTW
You work at Tokyopop? :steve:

He's a translator.
Take a look at the credits in a volume of "Beck" and you'll see his name.
I usually back up all my important files and .exe files for apps like MSN and stuff. It just saves the hassle of downloading them. But yeah, having to reformat really sucks. :/
Yay, just installed a DVD-Writer… can backup like crazy now :D
Had to format my laptop too last week.. the virus that is called "norton anti-virus" had wrecked my Pc and it's semi-impossible to remove the damn thing too. But dunno, I always like a format.. it's like a fresh start =)

I had that same thing on my first laptop.
I LOVE formatting my hard drive. (Actually I use some tool to re-image my hard drive.) I do that almost every other month, if not every month. Otherwise I feel my computer is dirty with all those virus my AV may not be finding >.>
Good thing I only have applications on the boot drive; everything else is in different partitions/drives. (ie. Manga, IRC, Winny, installers, documents, FTP info, browser bookmarks, etc, etc.) I'm so prepared XD
… But I don't do that with my laptop. If something happens on my laptop, I'm screwed.
I been down that road…a lot.
Been there. Of course a backup of our old system was included on the drive, but it was a pain to have to reinstall this and change the stupid defaults, but really it only took about 2-3 days. It's cool again and 8999999% better than the last one.
My computer would crash and everything would be deleted off my computer every month, a year ago I got MacAfee tho and guess what? Never happened again. But now I only got 1gb free space and I got zero cd's. I only got 16gb to start with anyways.
