That Paulie has some kind of rope Devil Fruit? Everyone just assumed he didn.t but it never really came up. I think it would be cool if he did. I know everyone thinks all these DF users all the time would get lame, but I think the crew could use more DF power and Paulie wouldn't seem as weak to me if he did.

I don't think its possible for Pauly to have a Devil's Fruit. When the Frankies first tried to rob the strawhats, Pauly is the one who accidently stopped them. I seem to recall at that point he went into the water for a little while, and since he didn't sink like a hammer.. But I'd have to find that chapter and read it again to be sure.

No, I don't think Paulie has any Devil Fruit in him.
If he has one, he would've used it when he was fighting CP9 or even when fighting Luffy, since those fights were really serious to him

i'll leave this topic here, but i still don't get what's so important in discussing whether paulie has a devil fruit or not. we've seen him fight, we've seen him beaten up badly by the cp9, why should it matter if he does have a devil fruit?

somebody enlighten me on the matter.

I think poor Paulie is right now getting a bum rap. We haven't really seen him truly "fight" yet. He's part of the mob that attacks Luffy, he then takes on Kaku and Lucci by himself (and survives), he then goes after Lucci with his pipe-hitch knives attack and is taken down by the same move that befells Zoro. How does that make him weak?

i think the rope fighting stuff he does is pretty cool and if it was a devil fruit ability it would just undermind it big time and would add plot holes, cuz afterall if he had a rope devil fruit ability why didnt he turn into a rope to escape cp9 or why didnt he turn into a rope when him and iceberg are left in the burning mansion!

and besides, if he even did have a rope devil fruit power it would just be alittle too weird <_<

now, now, dont get me wrong. i just think that speculating whether pauley has a devil fruit or not is rather pointless at this moment. we've seen him get pissed off because iceburg, the person he admires, is going to be assassinated, we've seen him fight when he's angry, we've seen him getting beaten up once, we've seen him return and got a rematch with lucchi, and we've seen him almost get killed again. i'm not saying the man is weak, but think about this:

come on now, if he did have a devil fruit ability, wouldn't he have used it then? i don't think pauley is that stupid to not use it, especially after getting beaten up once, and especially after realizing that he couldnt win (remember he said "i thought i could win" after getting beaten up by the skull and the bull). if he's ready to sacrifice his life to protect iceburg, at least use the power if he does have one. if a few chapters from now pauley showed up alive and said, "by the way, i have a devil fruit power that i just haven't shown you, lucchi! aiyaaahh~!" then one piece would be down there with the other horrible manga that has never made it to the surface. lame, i say.

a discussion like this is like discussing "what if luffy beat aokiji?" or "what if luffy refused to fight usopp?" and is more appropriately put in the general OP section. it has already happened; aokiji beat luffy and luffy fought usopp. so there is no point in talking about what had happened otherwise. it's NOT speculating; it's… wishful thinking, daydreaming, if you will. if you still want to talk about it, though, you can utilize the general OP section.

this section is for manga discussion, yes, but by discussion i expect PLOT discussion, CHARACTER discussion, THINGS THAT MAY HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE discussion, MYSTERIES THAT HAVE OCCURED discussion. if you want to make a thread discussing what pauley might do if he survived the fire and meet up with lucchi again, be my guest. if you want to create a thread to talk about whether lucchi and pauley can ever be friends again, after what happened, be my guest. if you want to create a thread about how pauley came to be iceberg's apprentice, sure, go ahead (plus the fact that we've seen little pauley with the snot getting all excited on umi-ressha's first departure). if you want to discuss about the parallelism (or lack thereof) between tom and iceburg with iceburg and pauley, please do. if you want to discuss how pauley as an apprentice is similar to franky as an apprentice, go ahead. these are the threads that (at least to me) would seem to promote MORE interesting discussion.

and we all know: a discussion is NOT just answering i think he does, or i think he doesn't. if you want to talk about something that has only two answers, that would not be a discussion. that would be a poll. and poll should (again) go to general OP. besides, if you want to add comments on why you voted for what you voted, a poll thread allows you to do that. and adding comments to why you think he does or he doesn't, is NOT discussion.

that being said, that's just what I think a discussion should be. i don't close or delete a thread just because of what i think. if a thread seem pointless to me but people are interested, then i'll leave it be. much like this thread.

He just has skills. Pauly's ain't rigging/mast foreman for nothing, it's his job and area of knowledge. We have seen him fighting more than Tilestone or Lulu though, those guys really were just pawned.
