All of them have to compete. Those who don't will be seen as unfit to be the king's children and subsequently executed.

Yes, on both questions.
It wasn't hard to understand the general line, the stuff Wagomu summarized, but there's a lot of static interference in between.

I love Togashi's dedication to logical reasoning. This was a great chapter to read. Some predictions/thoughts:
- This is gonna be a bloodbath. It's not only a battle for succession, but for colonization. He who stands atop it may as well call himself king of the world.
- Kurapika's gonna have to kill some more people. He fell in love with Woble.
- Halkenburg seemingly is the liberal savior of the New World but his connection to Tserriednich–a tyrannic despot drunk on avarice--puts his motives in question.
- I understand why Togashi wouldn't want Gon to be in this arc.
- That pot is weird and unsettling. I wonder what those guardian beasts actually are.
- Kurapika's way of getting Biscuit on his side was pretty hilarious.
- Good to see some familiar faces, but I can't see them all making it.
- That cityscape background really is classic HxH–reminded me of the Yorknew arc.

I doubt Gon is going to be completely out of it.
It's possible some of those super potent plants from New World can restore his Nen.

The weirdest possible outcome is that things go according to plan and anyone that can be reasoned with stays in the fake dark continent and only select few go on to the fuck everything land.

also glad to see hxh back, I would never imagine in my lifetime that people would hate expositions from a first/third person narrative. I could've sworn people criticized bleach for lack of text (among other things)

By dropping blood into it, each prince gains a Nen Beast Stand and probably some abilities. The boob monster from the previous chapter was one of those.

The pot is a nen charged artifact that gives members of the royal family wild nen-stands (beast made of nen) for them to prove their power through the physical representation of their spirit without any pesky training.
The nen stands are supposed to be not controllable for its user, they have to negotiate and tame them through old fashion ways.

Gotta say, it's not so much that the stuff being explained is complicated, is the fact that Togashi complicates it. Needlessly? Who knows. It's part of his style.
He likes to explore every single ramification of every single line of thought of every single potential action. . .but sometimes you, maybe, just maybe, gotta be a bit more succint when explaining things? Considering you might have a mountain of things ready to be explained and expanded upon? So if you add 4-5 pages long monologues about why A is better than B every single time, maybe, just maybe, this might go on forever and never get anywhere?
I don't know. It wasn't that bad, though, I remember far, FAR worse.

I'm just not sure why the requests are anonymous, I'd think that who you're working for would be the single most important factor to put in.
That's a rule of the competition, which I imagine they imposed so that no prince has an advantage for their reputation or just to prevent assassins from getting close.
As for why someone would accept the offer, there seems to be enough information out there for them to know they'd be working for a prince and what that might entail. Plus, the pay's good.

Since Manipulation is closer to Conjuration, I could control their trajectory I guess. My emission would be also high so I guess I could throw farther? The deal is, I would have an unlimited set of knifes.

Gon can't use Nen anymore, so I guess he will be benched until Togashi pulls a Rock Lee on him.

I was a conjurer, not surprising. My personality is between Conj and Manipulator. Put a lot of thought to it at one point and decided I would conjure a backpack with multiple functions including a transmuting pocket that destroys the object inside (e.g. rubber ball) and gives that to one's aura for 5 mins (allows one to bounce following a fall), the main pocket would function in a similar manner to Owl's power. In the HxH universe it seems better to have utility and stay out of trouble or you end up like Pockle.
I always enjoy reading other's ideas, there is a lot of room for creativity in this universe.

Really didn't like that quiz. It's like the creator thought of the "right" answer to each of the questions and just picked different ways of enacting them.

As I expected, the chapter is way easier to read with Viz's typesetting. The translation seems better as well, especially with Kurapika's thought process.
It was a really good chapter.
Before that chapter, I expected Gon to somehow be hired as one of the bodyguards. Now, I'm starting to think that Gon won't join this arc anytime soon (hiatus not included).
And btw Togashi's TOC comment, while half a poop joke, confirm his health issue which seems to be in the past now. I choose to believe him and hope he's now healthy enough to have a long run (enough to really kickstart the Dark Continent Arc).

When somebody is for a long time in bed and without ability to stand then intestines actually do work differently..
Guy can be sick, he can play dragon quest, he can draw his manga. He lives his life not to satisfy others but rather to live his life best he can.
Just fact that he didnt tied everything when Gon meet Ging is enough of proof that he is doing new arcs out of love for his creation and fans.
Working less is often solution to a lot of problems in life, if I would earn as much as Togashi I would love to enjoy life quite a lot while continuing on working on manga.
Not everyone has to be Oda who is another example of somebody who gives too much into his work(or rather was I hope) and who gotten to pay with his health for it.I am really happy that I get at least few more of HxH chapters. Its rarity is what makes reading it even more of a delicacy than it is.

I had seen it. It is not pretty. But these people refused to stop working and paid the price, unless is something very rare, with total bed rest most back injuries should have been cured in a year.
I'd say this time was half and half. He is both injured and unmotivated to have a weekly schedule. But I think that we aren't supposed to talk about this, so let's drop the subject.
