Star Ocean: The Divine Force is surprisingly... pretty decent. I was shocked they were even releasing another one after the previous game bombed (and was clearly extremely low budget), especially with news that tri-Ace is on the verge of going under, it might be the last Star Ocean for real this time. And despite the low budget being obvious in the character animation and phoned in voice acting (plus the HORRIBLE UI decisions), the art direction is gorgeous, the story is okay enough as of the halfway point, and the gameplay is stellar. They revamped the Star Ocean formula and it's really paid off thus far. Battles are fast, fluid, and fun. Mages aren't a total waste, and each fighter and mage alike feels completely different from the others. If this is the last hope for the series, it's a pretty solid note to go out on.

@Hakase Second trailer posted an hour ago:
I'm going to be playing this one aren't I
But where's my DQ3 :((((
-
I'm very excited for this. Despite what they said about improving party interactions and the story I'll put my expectations mostly into it having excellent combat and a banger soundtrack again.
-
So they finally annoucned console release for the Pixel Remasters, including a physical edition that contains all 6 six games on Switch and PS4. Yaye!
...only from the SE store.
...for 75$ plus 25$ shipping.
...for a limited quantity.
...and they released this at 1 AM.
...and it was sold out in 20 minutes.
What the hell square? Why are you making it THAT limited? THAT hard to get? That's obscene!
Oh wait, there's still the deluxe version! For only 225$! That... includes a vinyl record?
It's not quite as bad as the 15,000$ FF6 statue but its really dumb. Seriously leaving money on the table for no apparent reason.

I replayed a New Game of FF7R.
It was euphoric.
I can't think of any modern game I platinum'd and then played through from start to finish on a fresh save, and enjoyed it even more than my first playthrough.
It's an absolute triumph.
Oh, then I restarted Intergrade and it's even better!!!!!
Whatta win for SE!

Speaking of Final Fantasy games, did anyone play Stranger of paradise? I’m not sure if that game is supposed to be good or bad but it was meme’d the hell out of
-
Judging from the feedback I’ve read it’s a bit average not excitingly good but not this is beyond terrible either.
-
@Shiebs I couldn't play it. The BGM does this pulsing fade in and fade out effect that makes me feel physically ill. I thought it was just me or something wrong with my speakers but I found a few other people who it affected the same way. Nothing was ever done or patched afaik.
-
@Greg oh damn I hadn’t heard about that, I can’t believe they wouldn’t address that, especially such a big franchise like Final Fantasy
-
That was the game that was actually a prequel to the original game, right?
-
@Johnny-B-Decent I think so, I never played it but I’m pretty sure from what I did hear that was the gist of it
-
@Shiebs Yeah, apparently the heroes are Garland and the Four Fiends....or will become so.

To be fair it’s a prequel spinoff whose reception was tanked due to its meme status.
They can afford to not fix a legitimately problematic issue that would make people sick

It's so completely absurd to have Jack running around demanding to know where Chaos is, calling things bullshit, and blasting Limp Biskit(?)
I can see why a western audience would meme it up but those things probably didn't land to Japanese audiences...
such a strange game.

@MetaMario Also, it's kinda weird how a more modern-ish setting that the game has then becomes very traditional High Fantasy.
