Chapter 846 - Egg Defense
-
A moment of silence for King Baum.
He died (horribly) for our sins.
-
Poor homies, they were not spared.
-
What is the deal with all those DF(?) powers?!
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Can someone do something about the double thread I meade it, I just wanted to start the discussion quickly.:P
-
This single chapter features some of the best female character designs (villain-wise) Oda's ever done. Bravo, I was truly intimidated by the swordswoman.
Also, finally, a tiny glimmer of hope. This is insanely desperate.
-
What is the deal with all those DF(?) powers?!
The book one seems the most interesting. (bukku bukku no mi?)
You are able to put people inside some sort of fantasy novel world.
Or is it an illusion?Smoothie's power is just disgusting. Wringing the water(juice?) out of people and then drinking it.
-
We have someone who can take you to the World of Mirrors, now one that can take you to the World of Books.
That is some Jojo shit there.
-
Pedro will join as the new Sanji of the crew. Joking aside we got a cream man that burn things with sweetness and a book man that trap you in illusions, oh and let's not forget a bara woman that turns you into juice. I think somo DF are reaching Jojo levels of bizarre.

Finally a top tier female pirate, not hideous and a huge bounty.
I hope we learn what's on the other two Poneglyph. -
So… Brook and Pedro are probably gonna make Big Mom change her mind about the "I will forgive the strawhats" huh?
And I guess Jinbe is the only one who can free Luffy now, wherever he is (I would like him being locked up though, just to have an impel down dejavu)
-
I'm getting Neil Gaiman vibes for some reason.
-
Great chapter, much better than I thought it would be when I saw the spoilers!
Loved the last two panels. -
And oh, is Amande a snakeneck?

No Bobbin?
Boyoyoyon!
-
Another meito, cool.. but oda should specify what type of meito.. we still don't know what type of meito are the durandal, pretzel, and this fish sword.
-
Only downside to this chapter is we got a ton of main course but no Pudding. :(
-
I just realized Big Mom's hat is also alive. Of course it is :D
-
Wow, what I predicted (hoped for) just jumped out on the first page. Would have liked to see the actual electrocution and BM pirates reactions or something but at least the plot is progressing faster.
Glad to see BM can be reasoned with to some degree. The plot still isn't past the point where she and Luffy could part ways as not-enemies.
And btw, that interaction on the last page was just cool. Something I've been missing from OP for a long time.

That's exactly what I was thinking while reading the chapter. Oda usual female designs are becoming more and more repetitive to the point it is just the same character with a different wig (and I think that is symptomatic of way more than just "character design"), but Big Mom Pirates for sure are going on a complete different way - with the clear exception of Pudding.
And not only design-wise, this was a very unusual chapter in the sense that every character on a "position of power" was a female (Amande, Smoothie, Galette and, of course, Big Mom). I am pleased.

All the strawhats will make it at the same time. The exploding treasure, nami being nami, luffy being luffy, sanji deciding to escape, chopper not wanting to be a pet, brook stealing the stone print, and very likely the rest have caused some distraction outside her territory.
-
That's an army of yonko for oyu. What a great power. Even the unkown guys have a solid haki. They're so powerful even without sweet commanders not to mention Big Mom herself. No wonder why Marines afraid of yonko.
-
Nice chapter! A bit of expositions here and there. Although, from narrative point of view, I don't think Luffy will be forced to get out of that place until Sanji arrives. So I'm expecting that it's really not over yet.
-

She literally spoke with it in the chapter Ichiji and Niji arrived.

Yeah, real impressed how they tired out and beat up a tired out and beat up man. :ninja:

Tired out ? If you say so…

So many information, WOW!!! So, according to Robin in chapter 301, there are 2 types of Poneglyphs, those who contain information and those who contain hints of the location to other poneglyphs, the one on Skypiea told to Robin where the ancient weapon Posesidon was located and she confirmed that it was an "information" ponelgyph, thus it's safe to assume that the ones who tell the location of weapons are classified as the "Information" ones. By what we learn by Tamago on this chapter there 30 poneglyphs, the Road ones are 4, the "information" poneglyphs who tell both history and both the location of weapons are 9, and the others are 17. Robin in her journey, until now has found 3 information poneglyphs, at Alabasta, Skypiea and Fishman Island. If now they manage to steal the content of the ones BM possess, she'll have read 5 out of 9, and 2 Road ones. And it's never been stated if she found some of them during her 20 years after she escaped from Ohara, so she could have even read the text of others. And at Raftel all those 9 texts together can be used to unravel all history. HYPE!

Tired out ? If you say so…
If fighting for 10 hours with a yonku commander and then sit and get beaten from a pal of yours, doesnt clarify for tired out, i dont know what does.

Luffy was tired out indeed. But not ministers. The guy told that they tired out beating a tired out man.

To be honest, even though he fought for hours he also kept eating for hours - and we know how Luffy works. This basically means he kept recharging the whole fight and was at 100% at the end.
If he was beaten up, it was because of his clash with Sanji (and while I don't think that "fight" would have weakened him, we saw how Luffy fought poorly against Lucci in W7 when he was shaken because of Robin, so it's not impossible he is currently unable to fight properly because of everything going on with Sanji).
-
I'm in love with the Smoothie. I would let her wring me any day and then drink up my fluids. :ninja:
This chapter was amazing but where the hell was Bobbin?
And Amande omg savage. Hopefully now Oda can show that there are some insanely strong females out there. I think demon lady would fall head over heels for Zoro if he was here :)

Oda did show Nami telling Sanji Luffy was at his limits for a reason. He was in a poor state after Cracker's fight and got even worse after Sanji's treatment.

she indeed find one during a flashback if memory serves me right..but we have no idea what was on it

what's with the cover page? Pen name is Oda?
help sandman…

Holy shit what a dope chapter. One of the things I love most about One Piece is DF powers and other unorthodox fighting skills but this chapter had everything. Two awesome female characters (Amande and Smoothie), I think I saw about…..5 new DF powers this chapter off the top of my head? And poneglyph info to top it off.....beautiful. That panel of Luffy after getting blasted was epic. I told you Luffy was going to get captured and not get killed/saved.
This chapter was amazing. Good job coming through with the greatness after the break Oda.
-
This chapter was amazing but where the hell was Bobbin?
He was right there when Lola's name was revealed.
-

He is in the panel with everyone asking for Lola.

So why didn't Luffy go into Gear Fourth mode and then proceeded to exterminate everything?
The only possible answers are:
1. He was already quite worn out before the battle.
2. He's going to do that next chapter. -

He's on the top left corner.
He did nothing tho.. I was hoping he would be a sweet commander with the way he was introduced.

OK chapter with cool designs…
Still somehow Pedro is fishy... And we still do not now who is the traitor of the mink tribe

Yeap…. female terror!!!

I didn't realize it was the hat :( not used to have talking inanimate objects.
-

Meant tired him out with their numbers and abilities even more than he already was.
Look, I've no doubt they are as formidable as you say, we agree on that. But this victory over Luffy and Nami here was nothing special in my eyes.
-
I'm sorry but I'm not sure I can trust Big Mum with her promise. And the fact that she asked Luffy to be captured alive increases the doubt I have already.
I wonder if Nami and Luffy will be taken where Jinbe is.@Dr.:

We don't know if both Big Mum's poneglyphs are road poneglyphs one, do we ? Robin also said that they need to be brought to Raftel, I hope it was just what is written on them that needs to be taken.
-
so if you're under a book you see it's contents? the book luffy was in was called "Suspense" i think.
-
Luffy: "Damn, I've been beaten by a book again! Like that one time I tried school…"
Actually feels a little unfulfilling to see Luffy taken down from just a little bit of the battle, but I understand why it was done that way.
But Sanji, dude, if you're making requests, what about just asking if you can leave with them (and Pudding) after you're married? You can even help with the cake or something, make an exception to your "friends only" rule if you're so grateful. -
Look, Luffy made a promise to Sanji, the only way they're taking him away from that spot is if they kill him or if they knock him unconscious.
He's neither unconscious neither dead yet, so it isn't over.
As for what the outcome will be, things look to nice to be true, with Big Mom saying she'll let the Straw-Hats go. It seems obvious to me that Luffy will go Gear Fourth and beat the enraged army to a pulp (maybe Jinbe will butt in out of nowhere to help), infuriating Big Mom enough to want Luffy dead no matter what.

what exactly is fishy about pedro?
