Anyways gonna catch the film dubbed in just a few hours, already watched it subbed but interested to see how it turns out on the English side (non dubbed songs non withstanding)

You’re still holding a grudge from a freaking forum situation from YEARS AGO.
How petty are you? No one is going to take that seriously now. Especially when I’m not doing anything wrong. You’re the one insulting, not me.
-
@MooseAP Because you haven't changed a damn bit dude lmao, something everyone else can clearly see
I'll keep it blocked and move on, there's no changing someone so stuck in their pessimistic viewpoint
-
Read your post after you blocked me again, so I’ll say this and no more.
You don’t insult someone just because you think they’re the same as before. Especially when that person has not insulted you. And for that, I can’t wait for you to be reprimanded. Stay blocking me, and don’t proceed to ever speak to me again. We don’t need to interact. END.
-
Finally got a chance to hear AmaLees New Genesis dub, god it’s really good. Just makes it all the more upsetting she wasn’t used for the songs in the film.
Hell, I’d argue it would be even better than the sub if they did. I haven’t watched the movie itself subbed admittedly, but from the tie in episodes Utas seiyuu sounds fairly distractingly different from Ado. I think the dub could’ve been more immersive with all the lines and vocals done by the same person.
-
I woulda said no to this to anyone other than Amalee (or some big time pop star celebrity) since she really does do a good job with Ado’s music… which I was afraid no one in Crunchy’s team would be able to do justice.
Alas, wasn’t meant to be - but at least we can get covers. Maybe someone can splice the English songs into the movie although that might be tricky since most of the songs in the movie are not in full.

You really oughta be happy it's doing this well rather than acting like this, willingly setting yourself up for disappointment. It did better than My Hero's latest film, a series that is indeed very popular in the US, I don't care how many more theaters it had in comparison they were both similar releases at a similar time in the year and did around the same ballpark. Crunchyroll and Toei are happy, so I really just think you had your expectations in the wrong place man. At the end of the day too, what grip does Twitter have on you to be so ready for people to mock you that you were dreading it? Anime fandoms on there are packed full of teenagers and young kids who screech mid and pick fights with each other over stupid nonsense everyday and no life it, it's not the real world.
Seconded! Nicely said, Skippy!

Lol.
Only for Friday, and barely. And Black Adam was already on its 3rd week.
Black Adam is going to win the weekend and by a good amount.
-
Dude, people are frustrated with you because of your lack of balance. You’re stoutly negative, often when the situation doesn’t call for it. You’re not even expressing valid criticisms, just saying negative shit and moaning.
The film did better than I expected, two days in. I’m shocked it’s on par with MHA, which has merchandise in Walmart and is way more popular in the states (or so I thought). Everyone reading: don’t be distracted by Moose’s grouching. The film is doing very well for an OP film in the states. OP is definitely on the upswing here. :) Huge thanks to all the marketing and the dub speed-up, no doubt.
-
So you guys want a f**king echo chamber, is that right? Just endless sucking off this mediocre result. Because you guys have low standards?
Sorry, but I’ll never give you that. I will never be pressured to be forced to think what you guys are thinking. Because what I feel is REAL and I will never lie about that just so you guys aren’t annoyed.
I thought you were better than that. But here you are trying to make me feel how you feel about these results. C’mon dude.
-
Bet he made some strongly worded reply to this shit too

Still talking shit, I see. You literally just blocked me. Why do you keep unblocking me.
-
I don’t know folks, I’ve been here for a while, quietly. I don’t think Moose is being nearly as unreasonable as in the past. I’m no mod, nor is this worth their time, but maybe we need to take just a step back and accept that things are going fairly well and be happy that the series is doing well. Maybe not gangbusters, but certainly not shabby.
Now no one go accusing me of white knighting or taking sides, I just prefer discussions to arguments in this thread, since what can there really be to argue? We keep getting the dub, we keep mostly enjoying it and it’s always worth discussing, not fighting over.

Thank you. I know I’m not.
This is all them unable to get past their grudges of old.
Now now, that goes for you too. Leave it.
-
As long as I get to keep posting my thoughts. Nothing wrong with that. I’m not the one insulting anyone.
I too want to discuss OP but that doesn’t mean it needs to be a circle-jerk of positivity. And I shouldn’t be reprimanded just because “I go against the grain”.
So, I will continue to post what I feel. And I won’t confront or insult anyone, which I wasn’t doing to begin with. They just need to back off me. And none of this strife would exist.
-
I agree generally that some folks here flame anyone who lodges valid or arguable criticisms; I definitely feel like I’ve gotten some of that over the past two years, though not much before that. That’s a valid thought you feel, I think. But your antagonistic tone and stubborn reluctance to admit gains and success makes debating with you exhausting for everyone. It’s relentless pessimism, and I worry that that will carry into your own life and make you a very unhappy person. Being “against the grain” isn’t good in and of itself, and that’s a childish binary to hold.
I also agree that someone who spent years flaming and attacking people shouldn’t get immediate respect and forgiveness when they come back slightly toned down. Dude, the sins of your past aren’t easy to overlook for people who were subjected to it, and your outlook and rhetorical strategy hasn’t changed despite your tone being slightly better. We’re not circle-jerking positivity here. Something positive has happened, so we’re excited about it. I’m sorry you’re not pleased by nearly ten million dollars at the box office for a previously failing property. It’s objectively a great improvement. Your expectations are set way, way too high, and your language “OP shits the bed again” and using all caps to insult the franchises’ modest success and gain is exhausting for everyone here.
I’m not at the point of blocking you yet. But I’m tired of this discussion now. Take the rest up with a therapist, mate.
-
It’s a forum. Not real life. Let it go. And stop taking that stuff so seriously. I’m not a villain or anything.
Let’s just talk about OP and its American presence without being pressured to follow what everyone else feels about a given thing. Or be consumed about what happened with a given person in the past. We move forward, not backwards.
Ok? Ok.

What was Stampede's box office?

@Crystalice1 said in Funimation DVD Discussion IV (Please Check First Post for FAQ):
What was Stampede's box office?
A little over a million. Just search any films you’re curious about on this site. It looks like Red did way better than the last MHA film, if the “opening” column is to be believed.
-
We have received a theater release of every recent One Piece film, with Red having the widest release of them all.
The dub continues to release new episodes every four weeks, and will be entering Wano perhaps by January.
One Piece is back on Toonami.
Red was the #1 movie in America on Friday.
How anyone can think One Piece is not doing well in America (or on an international scale) is just baffling to me.
-
Ah fine.
I dunno what came over me. I was going off the hilt and… I mean, you guys didn’t deserve that.
What say you we all have a truce?
holds hand out
… and start over.

True, although in the end I don't think the disconnect is too bad since her singing is supposed to literally be magical.

Woot woot! Seconded!
-
In My defense, I know it’s doing great internationally.
It’s in America where I wish I could do better. I want it to at least match Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer.
-
By the way, I’m willing to bet all the arguing scares away forum users. If nothing else, I’d say we cool it for that reason.
-
JJK and DS are like thirty episodes. Way easier an entry, so makes sense those would do better for a film release. No big deal. It beat MHA, and that’s fantastic.
-
Well like I said, I’m not the one trying to argue. I just want to post how i feel. You guys are the ones who get all bent out of shape about it. So yes, as long as we have that understanding - let’s stop bickering over how “I” feel, shall we? M’kay.
-
Yeah but I bet the next DB or even Naruto movie would do gangbusters and they’re not exactly short series.
I just don’t accept these excuses. But sure, if you say so.
It is still odd to me that the latest My Hero didn’t do better than that. Something must be off when it comes to that movie because it doesn’t track with how well MHA typically does here.
-
The real crime here is that this dub wasn’t union, so the dub actors probably got paid next to nothing for a multi-million dollar film.
-
For what it’s worth, on twitter, the voice actress for Uta is very excited that Film Red beat Black Adam for at least Friday. She said a lifelong goal has been attained.
(…even though I’m sure the majority went for the sub showings buuuut I won’t be that cruel . )

Lol. How do you not see any problem with your attitude. Clearly you must, but you have no intention of fixing it and relish being unlikeable.
-
I’m me through and through. If you don’t like
me, you don’t like me. Bada bing, bada boom. It’s just a forum full of randoms I’ll never meet in my life. I don’t care. I’m just here to talk about OP.Like I said, I won’t tell her that. But it is facts. Facts don’t disappear just when you decide to be nice. shrug
-
From Stampedes 1.2 Million full run to Reds 9.5 million weekend run, that's an awesome jump!

Out of curiosity, what's stopping you from doing it? They are facts after all?

Anyways, I started my Reverie cutting project with the one episode we have out. It only took me five minutes to edit down the episode to like 12 minutes. Editing is always fun. Only question is whether I'll have time for it in December, and whether I'll be in town and near my computer when the set comes out.
I'm not doing any pacing cutting besides cutting the flashback/recap scenes, so don't expect anything fancy like One Pace. Just making the arc watchable. I'll let y'all know when the full cut is finished and available through PM.
@MooseAP, I actually just watched a film called BANSHEES OF INISHERIN, and the thematic conflict is whether to care about legacy or "being nice." And of what value "being nice" is. Watch it; the themes might get through to you a bit.

I’m glad folks are enjoying Red, my wife is only caught up to the dub and Stampede nearly spoiled enough when we watched it, so I’ll watch it on my own on Blu-Ray. We’ll for sure catch the next film in theaters the way things are going.

Hah. My wife is in the same situation, but I brought her to Red even though she hasn't seen Stampede yet. She covered her hears and hummed when Luffy jumped on stage and some rando shouted, "It's the fifth emperor." Thankfully, she didn't hear it, though that's only like fifteen episodes out from where she is now in the dub. The only other spoilers were Zeus helping Nami (he's still a cloud 100% of the time), all the alive characters (which I explained were because the movie takes place in a hypothetical scenario where all the SHs are together between WCI and Wano; she knew the chronology didn't make sense so didn't feel spoiled by characters being supposedly alive), Snake man Luffy, and a quick flash of G5 at the end. We decided those last few spoilers weren't a big deal, since she's seen a bit of G5 Luffy on my phone wallpaper anyways, and it's literally only a few seconds of him on screen at the end.
So yeah, rest assured you can take her if you don't mind those spoilers above.
-
The movie is doing pretty well in my opinion, It already out gross the anime movie, Belle from earlier this year. Which is really good. We should be happy with One Piece growth between the last couple movies. Since before the release of Film Red, Gold and Stampede were limited releases. The series is doing pretty well now, then years ago. I mean seriously, One Piece got a 24/7 channel on Pluto tv. Which is pretty big in my opinion, since the only other anime that have it is Lupin the Third and Naruto.

This post is deleted!

I actually did watch that and I felt absolutely nothing.
…
Anyway! Went to my local Walmart and noticed they had a Film Red advert. That’s pretty neat.

So the trap that Cinder set for you is this: You do care somewhat about kindness in spite of facts.

Never said I was a demon. That’s you guys projecting that to me.
Like I said, I’m no villain.

@Zephray didn’t know G5 showed up, even if it’s brief, nice to have that to look forward too!
When Pirate Warriors 4 came out she noticed the one scene where it says Luffy has a 1.5 billion bounty, I told her it was a translation error haha. She didn’t notice Zeus in Stampede either, but that’s not a spoiler for her now at least.
-
The idea that this forum "isn't real life" is naïve. These are real people, and this forum is more of a community than, say, Twitter, where people can leave hot or insulting takes, then bounce without repercussion or anyone remembering them. Just try to temper yourself a little more. Don't be so stringently negative. Maybe we'll get used to you, but it isn't likely with how you've been acting so far.
-
Never take the internet so serious that you get personally offended.
Having said that, I will continue to post my thoughts. As long as I don’t insult you guys, nothing wrong is being done. Let’s move on, shall we?
-
Man that dub was fantastic! Outside of the unfortunate lack of dubbed songs, all the cast really killed it and AmaLee and Foronda specifically killed it, amazing performances - props to the team
-
AmaLee had so many more lines than anyone, and yeah, she did a great job. You can tell she's putting her all into it; dubbing isn't old hat for her. I remember the chanting and extras feeling a bit too stilted and corny, particularly in that first hour, but no issues beyond that. Bart's actor is hilarious and perfect as always, but none of the other actors stood out to me too much.
What was it that Shanks says at one point? "There's no such thing as peace or justice in this world"? I don't buy the evil Shanks theory, but that very pessimistic line made me wonder if Luffy and Shanks will have a moral disagreement at the end of OP that will lead to a big fight.
